For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

BBBbee - boots are great. I want some...

TooTicky · 27/10/2007 15:59

Has everybody seen the new photos on my profile?

Hello Bee, how are you? Those boots are scary. Cool, but scary.

Boco, they are not true friends if they make you drink evil concoctions.

Bocoreepy · 27/10/2007 16:01

You're a woman of many...sides? Bee, avenger shoes and spongebob knickers.

It wasn't actually nesquick, it just tasted like it, it was called tequila rose or something - it was bad. I did have a fun evening though - shows how often i go out - i was really confused that we were still being served at 12.30. New friend came but didn't drink - the other 5 did, a lot. So first two dates with new friend and i took her to harrowing shows - and this time was probably far more harrowing than anything yet - oh the self loathing is going to kick in as i remember the shite i was talking.

TooTicky · 27/10/2007 16:12

Who is it that roasts beetroots? Is it Franny?

womblingalong · 27/10/2007 16:18

hello!

BBBee, we miss you! The boots are very avenger like, I am sure you look cool.

100, venice sounds just dreamy, can't wait to go back again.

Poor Boco, have you a very sore head? I just can't do drinking any more, it just kills me to have to deal with all the kid stuff the next day.

Toot, am very impressed with cooking before breakfast, and amusing imaginary conversations with 100, I find it far too difficult to have amusing RL conversations!

LL, your halloween name is v creepy! I have no inspiration for mine, v v poor show methinks.

Franny,

My vote is no to T shirts, would have mine covered up with jumpers etc, so prob no good.

Bocoreepy · 27/10/2007 16:37

How about Zomblingalong?

lionheart · 27/10/2007 16:39

Those daleks are just fab. TooT.

FrannyandZooey · 27/10/2007 16:47

Zomblingalong is good, esp for someone with a hangover

100 I love hearing about ds too and I was thinking the exact same thing as you were about having people be admiring about one's children, but I cam to the exact opposite conclusion. We don't see my mother very much, and dp's almost never, so i need a small community of people who DO say admiring things about ds because I think it is a necessary and pleasant thing in life. And I was going to start a thread about it.

we are going to a party and we don't really want to. Not because we don't like the people but because we are shy. And we won't really know anyone. I rang the one friend we have in common and said "are you coming to X's party?" and he said "what party?" Oops/

Bee I can imagine you in the boots and I hope you will wear them to the meet up. I am sorry I have not emailed you back properly but I just haven't got round to thinking about it, I am not trying to ignore you

How was the sea?

lionheart · 27/10/2007 17:04

DS1 has caught the surf bug.

Croyde was not so bad but I am not much of a caravan type person.

lionheart · 27/10/2007 17:05

Did I miss important stuff?

womblingalong · 27/10/2007 17:12

Am quite into zomblingalong, or zomble even, ponders, hmmm.

Have been bulk cooking queen again, have made chick pea and potato curry, aubergine bharta, (yum my fave), mung dahl, 3 different types of lentil dahl and vegetable pillau. Phew!

lionheart · 27/10/2007 17:17

They are both good, I think.

TooTicky · 27/10/2007 17:33

Womble, your cooking sounds wonderful. What is aubergine bharta?

BBBee · 27/10/2007 17:35

franny - don;t worry my sweet - you have put in loads of work and I have not beene xactly helpful. I will come in my boots and my sponge bob pants and sip special coffee at a nearby table.

they do sell coffee don;t they?

BBBee · 27/10/2007 17:37

oh hang on - fruit and vegetables - I ate some apples (god how I am sick of apples already) and a satsuma (hurrah!)

Tonight we are having vegetable lasange, green beans and salad.

I have lost half a stone since my course started - I have sorted out my diet a bit more - baked potaoes and bags of apples - and I think getting up at 5am is an effective weight loss regime.

FrayedKnot · 27/10/2007 18:01

Buona serata carissime 10/10ers

We are having lasagne too BBBee but not veggie tonight (we have drifted into eating meat just at weekends really which seems to work fine).

I have made butternut & spinach soup for tomorrow / next week at work, and am baking a quince cake in my trusty loaf tin (they do seem to work better for me than round cakes).

We have been to an Antiques Fair which cost us £ to get in, and bought notheing except a train for DS so it was an expensive train. It was nice to go and riffle though.

DS has been to sleep and is all perky so goodness knows where we will be with sleep / clocks etc.

usually when the clocks go back we end up with a very long Sunday which I assume is the same for everyone with small children.

Franny enjoy the party!

foulmoonfiend · 27/10/2007 18:37

womblingalong · 27/10/2007 19:15

TooT,

Thanks, Aubergine Bharta is chargrlled aubergine, mashed and cooked with onions and tomatoes and spices, it is so lovely and tasty, with a slightly smoky flavour.

Ooh! my ocado delivery is here, got to dash, back later.

FrayedKnot · 27/10/2007 19:22

No, no, I am not out having any kind of fun whatsoever.

We got the offer of a babysitter last night but I just couldn;t be bothered I have been so tired. I think DH was a bit miffed though.

We have a busy few weekends coming up so I need to pace myslef

If I go out and drink, I am so tired I have to spend the next day in bed, pretty much Either that or I wander about like the living dead in PJ's snapping at everybody

FrayedKnot · 27/10/2007 19:23

at Aubergine Bharta.
Could you elaborate on the spices, wombling?
I am never very good at getting it right.

FrannyandZooey · 27/10/2007 19:24

No i am not out having fun either

I am hoping to be in having fun though

Okay,

Here is my recipie

4/5 large aubergines, brush with oil, and chargrill untilskins are almost crisp. when they have cooled, peel off skin and mash flesh.

In a large wok or saute pan, melt some butter and oil, add chopped green chillies, 2 chopped onions, and finely chopped garlic (2 cloves)and ginger (an inch), and fry , stirring constantly until the onions go translucent, add some tumeric, chilli powder, fry for a few more minutes, add 5/6 chopped tomoates, or a can of chopped tomates, cook for about 5 miutes, add the aubergine, cook for a bit longer, add garam masala (mine has green and black cardamom, cloves, mace, cinnamon, cumin, coriander, fennel, black pepper, fenugreek) and salt, serve with fresh coriander. Hope you like it.
