For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

agh I hve just found out that trains from my town on a sunday don't arrive in london until 1.30pm. Bollox. Will have to stay over on sat night with my dh's mad business partner and unknown girlfriend. Aggh.

FrannyandGreenychordCarrier · 25/10/2007 16:13

no it just hasn't turned up, TooT

TooTicky · 25/10/2007 16:20

LL, there is a book about a boy who grew flowers on his body. It would be handy if you could do that on your head.

Franny, I will try again.

Ooh good, you are coming then fmf!

TooTicky · 25/10/2007 16:23

Franny, I have just sent you 3 more emails.

Lullabyloo · 25/10/2007 16:29

Toot....yes that would be most useful
I would have a very scented rose garden

TooTicky · 25/10/2007 16:33

I'd be tempted by jasmine, but it might be a bit overpowering. What is that bush that people have in their front gardens that smells like lemon ice lollies? Passion flowers would be fun. Oh, and orange blossom...

Lullabyloo · 25/10/2007 16:38

mmmmmmmmmmm....orange blossom
but no....wild blousy heady roses in different hues would be most lovely
So,do I have to cover my head in manure instead of lotion?

Lentil loaf recipe anyone?

TooTicky · 25/10/2007 16:40

Could you use seaweed? More pleasant than manure and better for your skin. Hope your roses aren't too thorny!
Oh, you could have violets...

Lullabyloo · 25/10/2007 16:47

hmmm...thorny roses could make for sleepless nights
dont like the smell of violets...beautiful though

seaweed,manure....smellwise much of a muchness
i used to rinse my hair in cider vinegar...when it rained I smelled like a chip shop

TooTicky · 25/10/2007 16:48

I've found a recipe for lentil and buckwheat slice - don't see why you couldn't make it loaf shape. Never tried it but it's Cranks so it should be good. Will type it if you want

TooTicky · 25/10/2007 17:03

Oh, I've found a lentil roast too and that is loaf shaped:
olive oil
350g split red lentils
25g margarine
4tbsp lemon juice
4tbsp tamari
4tsp cumin powder
STUFFING:
2 large onions
4 cloves garlic
100g mushrooms
100g wholemeal breadcrumbs
1tsp dried sage
small bunch fresh parsley

Preheat oven to 200c/gas mark 6.
Wash lentils and bring to boil in 1/2 pint water, simmer gently until soft.
Mix cumin, margarine, lemon juice and tamari into lentils & season with pepper and salt.
Chop & fry onions, garlic and mushrooms in a little olive oil until onions are soft. Turn off heat. Add breadcrumbs, sage, parsley, salt & pepper.
Grease loaf tin (1lb or 2lb). Put in lentils, stuffing and then more lentils.
Dot with margarine and bake for about 1 hour until golden brown.

FrayedKnot · 25/10/2007 17:04

The spinach and lentil loaf wasn;t as nice as when made with carrots.

Basicaly you cook some lentils. Then you whisk up an egg, grate some carrots, grate some nice cheese, and mix them together. You can add breadcrumbs if you want but I usually don;t. Herbs & seasoning to taste. I guess you could also use other veg grated - squash perhaps? You pop it all in an oiled loaf tin and bake it.

Sorry that's about as technicaL as it gets (can you see why I can;t bake cakes? because I don;t do recipes, I do throw it all together).

It's also very nice cold the next day with some chutney.

I haven;t eaten much today. Except two pieces of cake (carrot, and apple). Also an apple & a pear and some dried fruit.

I must make amends at supper time....a stir fry I think.

LL it does truly sound awful and I wish you weren;t having to go through this

Boco glad DH reappeared. Is he OK?

FrayedKnot · 25/10/2007 17:11

Sorry i forgot about frying off some onions first as well which you mix in with everything else. This could also include some red pepper and / or celery softened with the onion.

Lullabyloo · 25/10/2007 17:19

Gosh..thanks chaps...yum...oniony,mushroomy one sounds delicious

well had mango, passionfruit, strawberries & banana salad for breakfast

TooTicky · 25/10/2007 19:14

Well, I have just got back from delivering the papers [achey feet emoticon]

littlerach · 25/10/2007 19:36

Jeez, I just did a really good long post about all the veg I've eaten...and it's gone

But i did eat lots. And it was nice.

And FIL brought homemade by MIL chutney and jam, all the way through customs. And a cake.

but nevermind

FrayedKnot · 25/10/2007 19:38

What's HAPPENED?

FrayedKnot · 25/10/2007 19:41

Ah, that's better.

Here I am at the top again

FrannyandGreenychordCarrier · 25/10/2007 19:54

if you don't like the new layout (I fkn hated it but I hate change)

go to customise doodah at the top and select "MN classic"

good old tech

TooTicky · 25/10/2007 20:00

PHEW! That was confusing!

littlerach · 25/10/2007 20:02

Just too ocmplicated now.

Does nayone else remember when MN only had about 12 topics in the list?
And no categories, nop siree, just a little list.

But I have managed to customise mine now.
But may go back to the old style.
decsisions.
