For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Hello! I'm here. I'm drinking wine

Lull, sorry if this is crass or insensitive but how effective is the steroid lotion? I wonder if it's manky and stinky and horrible you might be better off not using it and just letting your hair grow back in it's own time. Are there any side effects - I know other steroid treatments do. It just sounds like one more thing to get you down

Lullabyloo · 24/10/2007 22:45

psw.........i dont 'do' medicine
I rarely take anything at all
only homoeopathic remedies

Now I am reduced to steroid cream for my foot, steroid lotion for my head etc
Natural remedies have not helped, alternative therapies havn't helped

If my skin infection doesn't clear up I am at high risk of cellulitis = disastrous with lymphoedema
as far as my hair goes....i'm clutching at straws because of vanity & coldness
It is unlikely that the hair will ever grow back...so I'm told

my homoeopath thinks it's down to shock rather than illness

Boco · 24/10/2007 22:53

Oh Lully How awful - you're always so chirpy and upbeat and positive sounding. You really are very brave and strong. Why won't the hair grow back? Are they sure? Oh i want to say something good but I'm sitting trying to think of something and i can't. I'm blown away by how totally mighty you are.

Dp hasn't come home yet - it's nearly 11, how late can climbing walls stay open? It's only 20 mins away. Am i fussing? He's been gone 4 1/2 hours.

Lullabyloo · 24/10/2007 22:57

Boco...you are lovely.....am certainly not mighty....quite the opposite

can you call him & make sure he's ok?
Are you ok?

Boco · 24/10/2007 22:59

Yes, i'm fine - just pacing a bit and wondering why he's so late. He doesn't have a mobile.

pinkspottywellies · 24/10/2007 23:00

Sorry Lully, I hope I didn't upset you. It just sounded like another horrid thing that perhaps you could've done without. I thought you weren't really into conventional medicine. How are you finding hats and scarves? I expect you look fabulous! You are amazing - mighty's a good way to describe how you are dealing with all this. Good word Boco.

Boco, can you ring him. I expect he's just having a fab time and hasn't realised how late it is.

Lullabyloo · 24/10/2007 23:01

oh
has he ever stayed this long there before?
does he climb with anyone you know or would he have popped in somewhere to see anyone?

pinkspottywellies · 24/10/2007 23:02

Have you got a phone number for the climbing place to find out when it shuts?

I must away to bed. dd was up in the night last night so I hope it was a one off. Night ladies x

Boco · 24/10/2007 23:03

No, he's gone on his own. Not anyone he would have popped in to see, not that i can think of. PSW is probably right, - just seems strange, he usually goes for an hour or so and is back by 9. I'm going to obsessively fold washing and stare at the door some more

Lullabyloo · 24/10/2007 23:04

psw....of course you didn't lovely
I hope I didn't sound grumpy
I think friends & my grandmother in particular are rather aghast that I'm using it & feel that with my negative feelings about it it probably wont work anyway....but as I said...it's just clutching at straws really.

Lullabyloo · 24/10/2007 23:07

Night psw

Boco....maybe call the climbing place to put your mind at rest.....
but he's most probably fine & lost track of time

littlerach · 25/10/2007 08:11

Boco, I hope he got back okay.

Lullabyloo, a good friend of mine lost her hair, due ot chemo though. She had some great wigs and soem beautiful scarves.
I don't know the details of your illness, but wish you hope and love.

FIl arrives ta lunchtime and th ehouse is already a mess! Does this only happen to me?
Dd1 is so excited about going tho the airport to meet hime. She has made a banner.

We are hoping to take him to the arboretum at Westonbitr tomorrow - fingers crossed for good weather.

zippitippitoes · 25/10/2007 08:15

I don't know how you stay so positive Ll..

are the westonbirt trees the same as batsford arboretum i think i am going there next week hopelfully the weather won't be too awful over the weekend and the leaves will stilll be looking good

i am off to cornbwall shortly

and i am doing another climbing wall with my friend a week sunday i nthink but in guildford

hope he came back ok boco

MrsCarrot · 25/10/2007 08:25

Oh, LL, you are being very brave. I would hate that cream too.

Boco - That does seem strange, hope there's a good explanation. Do I remeber you saying he goes through patches of being down?

F has been very ill this morning, now I have tons of washing to do. I can't see where he would have been in contact with an ill person so I've decided it must be the zoo and I am NEVER going again. Hmmphh.

And we all had dentist appointments and we were going out for lunch to a friends where they all had a friend and the older ones will be very disappointed. So annoying.

I need a cup of tea.

zippitippitoes · 25/10/2007 08:31

i have a suggestion for a thread title

you could humour me and use something from this

Baby this soup doesn't really grab me
Today I need something more sub-stub-sub-substantial
A can of beans, some black-eyed peas, some Nescafe and ice
A candy bar, a falling star, or a reading from Doctor Zeuss

littlerach · 25/10/2007 08:36

I imagine the arboretumn is very similar.
We always plan ot go around christmas when it is all lit up, but have never managed.
FIL is very keen to go, so this hsould spur us on!
We also plan to go to Lyme Regis. Dd1 has geat plans that she will find a dinosaur. Dd2 has plans for ice cream!

Coffee and croissants. Mmmmm. Strawberry jam - one portion?

littlerach · 25/10/2007 08:36

Have we gone onto xmas smileys already?
Too soon, too soon

FrannyandGreenychordCarrier · 25/10/2007 09:09

Boco, what news?

FrannyandGreenychordCarrier · 25/10/2007 09:09

FrannyandGreenychordCarrier · 25/10/2007 09:09

Boco, what news?

FrannyandGreenychordCarrier · 25/10/2007 09:11

oh fgs sorry

these are HALLOWEEN smileys, not christmas ones rach!

LL, losing your hair is so crap on so many levels. I hope the cream helps and wish it could be something delicious luxurious scented organic instead

FunkyGlassSlipupandyouredead · 25/10/2007 09:18

Morning Guys.

You all go so fast for me, if you dont mind I'll just dip in and out every now and again.

LL - dont know your story but it sounds tough. Hope the cream helps.

I like the new smilies too

I am not doing well on my fruit/veg endeavour but I will go and have a glass of OJ now. I think it doesnt help that I'm not a very good cook.

Any tips welcome...

Have a nice day everyone.

IdrisTheDragon · 25/10/2007 09:20

I can't remember when I last posted. Probably Monday.

It is grey and yuck and I am all jittery. Bother.

IdrisTheDragon · 25/10/2007 09:21

littlerach · 25/10/2007 09:22
