Steve has got much worse since yesterday morning. he was sick six times and he is the same today, he has a lot of swelling around his head and eye
i phoned the docs and got thou to NHS direct.
they asked if steve would go into hospital, had to say no as he wants to stay at home.
just need to get the swelling, pain & sickness sorted out.
the doctor will be here within an hour

sorry to hijack... but i could do with you MALO... I dont qualify for any help at all, due to my age. imagine the uproar if it were the other way round... I really need a home help. cant afford to pay the full cost of anything like it.

sorry your man has had a difficult day OJ. we used to have really strict guidlines on usage of ondansatron at work, but now, its used if the need is there. they do start off on smoehting different, but if it doesnt work they get it.

Pateints on chemo get it straight off thank god.I hate that the NHS are failing your DH due to money in this way.

Hi MALO and OJ .Will get off high horse now!!!MALO do you enjoy your job?I did a stint on an elderly ward and loved it.I remember so many of the stories the ladies told me.One had nine members of her family wiped out in the Blitz in one night, hard to imagine!!!! and I will never forget Ethel who used to sing rude songs the miners used to sing in the old days(she was a miners wife.Am originally from Nottingham,OJ)Eeey oop,me duck!!!

onlyjoking9329 · 21/10/2007 22:40

it is nicer to be able to stay at home. steve won't hear of having any help. it took him a while to accept the Mac nurse and he struggled with the daytime respite familys we have for the kids

wrinkly...yes I do enjoy my job. We not only help the elderly but also younger people who are ill or disabled. With two young kids its not easy finding a job that I can fit in around school/playgroup but this one does.

I started doing it a few years ago and then I lost my Dad very suddenly a couple of years ago and it made me realise how precious life is and if I can just help a little bit to make life happier for someone then I will.

wrinklytum · 21/10/2007 22:46

OJ,I really admire your fortitude.I have one SN child and one NT child and, though DP is very poorly, he is not as sick as your dh and you have 3 sn children with SN IIRC!hOW ON EARTH DO YOU DO IT!I am in awe!Where in Nottingham are you?.I am always astounded when I go" home"-I have to take ds on the trams as we do not have them here and he is SOOO chuffed by them!!!!

minesalargeone · 21/10/2007 22:47

OJ - your girls are soooo pretty.

wrinklytum · 21/10/2007 22:49

MALO,good for you.I think lookig after people as a job is THE most interesting job in the world.(As well as frustrating and sad at times)

minesalargeone · 21/10/2007 22:56

Yes, sad....very sad. Despite how hard we try you do get attached to people and I've lost some lovely people and no matter what you never get used to it.

Frustrating...yes. Especially the very elderly gentlemen of this country and especially with their shopping requirements....ie 'those potatoes you bought last week were too small' or 'that toilet roll was too soft'....grrrrr

wrinklytum · 21/10/2007 22:57

lol, sounds like dp at the mo...."That orange juice you bought me was crap...." 39 going on 99 bless him

minesalargeone · 21/10/2007 22:58

Go buy it yourself then matey!...and whilst you're at it here's the list for the week.....

minesalargeone · 21/10/2007 22:58

minesalargeone · 21/10/2007 23:01

wrinklytum · 21/10/2007 23:04

onlyjoking9329 · 21/10/2007 23:04

we live not far from ikea.
Autism is our "normal" now amazing what you get used to isn't it. the kids are indeed beautiful in a serene kinda way, things are much easier now all three are at the same SN school.
i did voluntry work for the gateway organization from 16-24 then spent a few yyesra working with kids who have SN so i do mostly just get on with it.
i do support a few parents localy thou the DX HV often phones me and asks if i will help someone, i did set up a local autism group some years back but i pulled out a while ago. i do enjoy doing that kind of stuff but i don't have the time these days.
