What's the grown-up word for sleepy-dust?

I've suddenly realised I'm 58 and still using baby-talk to refer to the crusty bits in your eyes when you wake up. All I can find by Googling is 'rheum' - but I've never, ever heard anyone refer to it as that!

What do you call it?

I'd say ' Oh there is a bit of sleep in your eye'.

BoneAppleTeaa · 11/06/2020 16:15

I’ve only ever heard it referred to as ‘sleep’.

Nah, duck muck (or duck meat) is the gunk you get between your toes!
FlamedToACrisp · 11/06/2020 18:59

'Sleep' sounds much better - I might have to use that. I'll pass on the pixie poo and duck muck, thanks!

I love the term sleepy dust, adorable.
I think the correct name is gound.
We tend to refer to it as crust which isn’t pretty at all.

thatcarolebaskinbitch · 11/06/2020 19:07

Sleep or as @LakeTittyHaHa said Eye Boogers for the dogs Grin

waltzingparrot · 11/06/2020 19:09

Isn't the proper grown up medical type word, Blepharitis.

YesItsMeIDontCare · 11/06/2020 19:11

You are all wrong. It's sleepy jacks.
