What's the grown-up word for sleepy-dust?

I've suddenly realised I'm 58 and still using baby-talk to refer to the crusty bits in your eyes when you wake up. All I can find by Googling is 'rheum' - but I've never, ever heard anyone refer to it as that!

What do you call it?

Discharge? That’s what the pharmacist always asks if you have before they prescribe the eye drops.

Sleepy Dust here too. I'm not from the NE.

No idea why but my family have always referred to it as "bed"
Iv only just realised how strange that actually sounds

‘Sleep’ in your eye
But for some unknown reason, it’s called having a ‘googly’ eye, if it’s the dog!!😁 As in “come here, you’ve got a googly eye, let me wipe it”

Eye bogies Grin

None of us seem to be prone to it, I've never noticed it on DH or the DCs. One of the cats gets a bit, we call it eye gunk. It was sleep in my family growing up which I always thought was silly, I've also heard it called sleepy dust.
