A little bit of background, my ds had an operation for hypospadias in march, this is the third stage, so had three ops before. This one was to seperate his willy from the rest of body and to grow skin for next surgery.

Since the surgery he has experienced, for the first time ever 'a hard willy' thats fine and am aware that this happens in boys from early age, but every now and then he has a milky white type discharge, sometimes it is whenms he pee's other time it is a stain in undies. There seems to be quite alot and dries milky white. So what is it? Is it just like sperm or something else. He is never aware of it and it doesn't happen reguarly enough for it to be post operative infection. This is all new to me as he is the first boy born to our family so no body knows the answer!!!!!!!! btw he is 4.11.
thanks in advance.

I ahve 2 ds's & never seen this sort of discharge in either of them.

Peachy · 11/09/2007 20:24

Have never seen this in my three tbh, I would ask GP

popsycal · 11/09/2007 20:25

Two ds here and never seen this

jo25 · 11/09/2007 20:30

Thanks everyone, i did think about going to GP but as he doesn't have any discomfort or pain i was sort of embarassed in case it was just normal boy stuff!! i will do that.

2 here too and not seen that with either of them.

smugmumofboys · 11/09/2007 20:50

2 here and not seen that either (but plenty of hard willies !)

Flibbertyjibbet · 11/09/2007 20:55

2 boys here too and even an infection under the foreskin with DS1 last year didn't give us any thing like this after.
Get to the gp - your boy won't thank you for it later on if you ignore it and his willy drops off. When DS1 had the infection, I waited for dp to come home as I was post c-section with ds2 and couldn't drive us to hosp. he was horrified that I could have left a child's WILLY untreated for a couple of hours!!!

jo25 · 11/09/2007 21:12

I am 99% sure it is not infection as he has had them quite reguarly over the last 4 years,(a side affect of his condition) i think i will make appt tomorrow. Thanks for advice i just wanted to check that it was 'the norm' for boys.

It could be fungal. Does his willy smell at all (sorry if TMI!) Does he get any pain there now?

jo25 · 11/09/2007 21:58

No to both of those, thanks anyway. It doesn't happen all the time, i would say possibly twice in the last 4-6 weeks.

not meaning tobe crude but it may be that his willy is extra sensitive and it makes him leak ejaculate minus the sperm.

chipmonkey · 11/09/2007 22:57

Really don't think there should be ejaculate at age 4. Have 3 boys and have never seen this either.

cluelessnchaos · 11/09/2007 23:00

ds had an infection that gave him discarge, but the end of his willy was REALLY red

tori32 · 11/09/2007 23:09

Yes chipmonk I would normally agree, however, operations to the penis can make them more sensitive to arousal so it is not impossible.(sorry didn't mean that to sound weird) I have assisted with childrens hypospadius op, circumcisions etc.

chipmonkey · 11/09/2007 23:21

Really, tori? You learn something every day!

tori32 · 11/09/2007 23:25

yes, its because the foreskin is sometimes partially removed. So the end of the penis is more exposed and sensitive.

chipmonkey · 11/09/2007 23:39

Would that be true in a circumcised boy as well?

tori32 · 11/09/2007 23:41

Yes it can be. Probably more so if its going to happen because all the foreskin is removed in that op.

jo25 · 12/09/2007 07:30

Thanks tori, thats sounds likely as he had part of foreskin removed and it all placed underneath, so to speak to grow some more. After next years surgery he will be fully circumstised, so i presume it is likely to hapeen more. You have put my mind at rest.

Good to have an expert on willies here tori!

moopymoo · 12/09/2007 14:00

my ds is prone to willy infections, often they mean he has some staining on his undies and a bit of pus when he wees. is it stinging him? we have seen gp and a consultant about this, tis very common and i would think even more so after a procedure. he is nearly 10 now and it happens less often. he may still have to be circumcised eventually though we are trying to avoid.

ju · 12/09/2007 14:02

This sounds like balinitis, very common in little boys, an infection of the foreskin, treatable with antibiotics. The discharge dries to a kind of chalky residue ? Both my DS have had this. HTH

jo25 · 12/09/2007 16:59

ju, that does sound familiar, but he has infections v.v.reguarly and i would have thought that it would be present more often than once every few weeks. I try and avoid antibiotics as i am on them long term and ds is allergic to penicilin. . he doesn't have the staining at the moment.
