For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

here you go...

TooTicky · 12/09/2007 12:44

That would be great 3.

I hate the way supermarkets exploit farmers and animals and drive small shops out of business. And the fact that they don't care about food miles, etc.

TooTicky · 12/09/2007 12:48

Thanks 3 I wonder what the peanut butter one is like...

3andnomore · 12/09/2007 12:51

it does sound interesting, doesn't it

Oh, and I know what you mean, but I don't think I am ready to avoid supermarkets...

IdrisTheDragon · 12/09/2007 12:52

DH makes hummous. It is very good .

ahundredtimes · 12/09/2007 12:59

Are you ok Idris?

Am on a lunch break. Am eating delicious soup, has not been made by me but by Prince Charles.

TooTicky · 12/09/2007 12:59

My hummus always turns out bland, or else scarily garlicky.

TooTicky · 12/09/2007 13:00

There you go again 100x. A different world

ahundredtimes · 12/09/2007 13:01

Oh yes indeed, TooT, but he's made a bloody mess of the kitchen and I hope he's planning on tidying it up.

ahundredtimes · 12/09/2007 13:03

I can't find MsC's boots link. Please link again, I want to look at the boots MsC.

I quite like your new name, but I don't know if it suits you really. When you were called Carota it made me always think of Nicholas Sarota.

TooTicky · 12/09/2007 13:03
Grin
ahundredtimes · 12/09/2007 13:04

Am also sorry to hear about the cart.

I loved that cart.

Can dh fix it do you think?

ahundredtimes · 12/09/2007 13:05

Talk to me TooT.

What is dd1 doing NOW.

3andnomore · 12/09/2007 13:07

100,oh, it's not broken...basically it is meant to be taken apart...only , when it fell backwards (probably both of their weight at the back didn't help) it came apart where it is meant to come apart, if you want to collapse it....not sure if that makes sense at all!
And lol at the soup made by Prince Charles...I assume you mean a tin from his food factory....I wattched a programme recently where they were slagging it off a bit...as it as to high in salt and fat and whatever...

3andnomore · 12/09/2007 13:08

Oh Idris, when you have the time and feel like it ( I know, now is not the right moment)...maybe you could share the recipe with us

ahundredtimes · 12/09/2007 13:09

Hmmm. Yes, soup was both fatty and salty I think.

Okay, I've finished soup. Am off. That was quick.

Good to hear about the cart.

TooTicky · 12/09/2007 13:13

100, she is moaning because we are hungry and has decided a domestic science lesson is in order and I think she should make rock cakes because they are quick and easy and popular and she wants to make complicated and fiddly things. We may compromise on apple buns.

TooTicky · 12/09/2007 13:14

have not has

MsCarrot · 12/09/2007 13:15

Was it beetroot annd dill? I lurve duchy beetroot, mmmm.

boots

3andnomore · 12/09/2007 13:15

Oh, clever ones...
I am trying to fill out an aplication form, and dh is not here to ask him anything...
am stuck on 2 things right now....

  1. they obviously asking for 2 references...one being my present emploer, which is easy and a character reference...now usually I would give my present and the employer previous to that...but if they want a character reference...would a friend be better...I am a bit confused about this.

  2. ther e is a section headed:
    Background and Personality:
(Tell us about yourself, e.g. where you were born, your family, school, your employment, personality, etc...)

The space under neath is very little, but I suppose one can always continoue on another sheet...however, how much shoudl one give away?
Where I was born easy...do, tehy want to know that my mum was a single mum and have a sister? employment, well, they will obviously find out more in teh usual category, in which you state emplyment history and with school, well, that is already in teh educational bit....and well, then tehre is another section in which they want additional info, i.e. why you reply for the job (and ther is a huge space for that...hm...)

Oh, I hate applicationforms, lol

TooTicky · 12/09/2007 13:18

Oh I hate application forms. I believe honesty is usually the best policy. Good luck

TooTicky · 12/09/2007 13:20

For the reference, unless you are intimate with a vicar or policeperson or something, how about a teacher you have known for a few years?

TooTicky · 12/09/2007 13:21

Sorry, the bit about being "intimate with a vicar or policeperson" doesn't read quite as I intended it
In my defence, I am bf and teachiong domestic science atm

TooTicky · 12/09/2007 13:29

Teaching!

3andnomore · 12/09/2007 13:34

lol...erm...not intimate with policemen and vicars here...lol!
Teachers...as my sons teachers, or somehting like that?
Hmmm...maybe my ds's Nursery manager...she's known me for 2 years now (that is an criteria isn't it, the length they know you)and she will write nice things about me, lol!
Or next door neighbours maybe...hm...however, he just had an hipreplacement, so, probably crap timing...
hmmm, thing is, I have a relaly good friend, that I actually met when she was a trainee nurse and I was working as a staff nurse on teh ward she had a placement...but she now is back in Germany, and I was told before, that they can't accept referees from other countries...I mean, her english is fabulous (she actually , because she couldn't finish her trianing in germany at the time, started her Nursing studies back over ehre and is a peadiatric nurse..now)
