For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Haaaaaaaapy Birthday to you
Haaaaaaaappy Birthday to you
Haaaaaaaaaaaaappy Birthday dear Boco........
Happy Birthday to yoooooooooooooooooou

hello you luverly lot...
Ds & I have had apple, pear & cinnamon porridge with hemp seeds & an avocado, carrot, apple & basil smoothie.
We are plodding off to farmers market for supplies soon ,ds NEEDS more cob nuts...apparantly.
Then...we are off to the pantiles for tea & scones with my grandparents in a lovely little tea room & then taking ds to the park.
They are in their nineties but so incredible...My grandmother & I have always been soul mates & now I am seeing ds developing the same amazingly powerful bond. She is the strongest, wisest soul I have ever had the fortune to know & has always enriched my life & guided me when I am lost.
At a time in her life when I should be caring for her,she has journeyed up here and managed to centre me again. Her words & reassurance, hugs & physical practicalities she has put in place have once again given me hope & strength & a more positive approach to getting through all this.
Ds has been delightful...my happy ,carefree little boy full of utter nuttiness & laughter has emerged again. They have played numerous games of hide & seek, made fairies on the ceiling with mirrors, made acorn animals, done leaf prints, built tents, made salt dough etc etc
He will miss them terribly when they leave tomorrow....& so will I..

Can you tell am emotional & monthly.....?
Off to find a sweater...am permanently freezing these days..my hands are like frozen fish

LL, you lucky thing- what wonderful grandparents! It's great you've had such a good time together.
I need a kick up the arse- got to do my German homework for tomorrow. 3, do it for me, pleeeeeeease

pinkspottywellies · 12/09/2007 08:51

Greengages, orange juice, raisins.

I'm going back to my exercise class this morning [terror] after 6 weeks off because I've been working. Apparently everyone was saying last week 'pink will be back next week, she's not working any more!' so I can't just sneak off the radar! So, wish me luck and I'll be back on later if I can move!

ahundredmines · 12/09/2007 09:26

Happy Birthday Boooocoe. for you

LL - Am swooning at your Grandmother. I heart your grandmother. I also need for you to start writing down your food so we can make it into a cook book and read it every morning and cry whilst eating a couple of greengages.

3andnomore · 12/09/2007 09:38

Franny is the name change because of the mn postal strike?

Lullaby, your grandma sounds absolutely amazing....wow...
me and my grandma also had a very close bond, but of course living in the UK, I oculd not see her as regular as I would have wanted too since moving to the UK....and she died a few years back, which was a great relieve for her, I would think....she had diabetis for many years and over the years had lost her limbs and most of her eyesight. She also suffered with dementia, so,she wasn't taking part in the world around her the last few years....it was sad seeing this strong woman, who gave Birth to 13 children and raised 11 of them (1 died, as he was born when they were fleeing from selizia (sp?)in the war and the eldest one was raised by her own mother), she used to have this huge plot and they had animals (it wasn't a farm or anything...just enough for their own needs) and she had to do most of that by herself, as my grandfather had lost a leg....I used to stay with her, over the holidays, and often I would go to them in teh beginning, not returning home till the last week....I remember getting up , when it was still dark, and we would go downstairs and she would put the fire on, and we would have tea and something similar to Melba toast, with butter, and me also with some sugar sprinkled on...and then we would feed the animals and I always felt that my nan always had time to talk with me, etc...
When my mum told me that my nan wasn't to good, and had been in and out of hospital, after they amputated the remaining leg, etc...I knew I had to go to Germany, she had not met our youngest son yet, and that didn't feel right...when we went to see her, she actually was more aware then I have seen her in many years, and she remembered my name and she looked at Flynn and actually saw him, and smiled saying how happy she was that I had another beautyful little boy....a week later she died (which I kind of knew she would....I suppose being a Nurse and having seen a fair amount of people pass away...there is part of me that thinks she waited to say good bye to me...)....
oh god...look at me rambling along...sorry!

Sauerkraut, I would be happy to help (aslong as it isn't anything to do with grammar...lol...)

Pink, lol....well, hope you enjoy your exercise class

3andnomore · 12/09/2007 09:39

Oh, I forgot to mention food, lol....

had dried apricot and plums and a banana and some grapes

Boco · 12/09/2007 09:41

Thanks for the happy birthdays! FMV i love your poem, you need to go into greeting card making - i could draw the pictures if you like?

LL your grandmother sounds wonderful, and I'm so glad she's helped you feel better - that's such good news.

DD1 made me several birthday cards, all with lamps on, as she's learnt to draw lamps with perspective. They're very good. And a pile of cut out fairies, flowers, and bees that i am supposed to decorate my room with. My friend in London sent me the dvd of one of my favourite films - 'Together' - lucas moodyson - I was amazed as i must have gone on to her about it years ago, - can't wait to watch it again.

IdrisTheDragon · 12/09/2007 09:42

Happy Birthday Boco .
