Anyone else had this chesty virus?

I haven't been to China or abroad anywhere, so let's get that out of the way first.

I have a viral chest infection (gp confirmed) and I'm on week 3 of hacking my lungs up. DD has had it for six weeks, DS and DH started with it last week. According to the GP there's a nasty bout of it going round and recovery is taking ages.

Does anyone else have it and want to share their misery with me?

Had it 4 weeks and counting 😭 no longer infected but still have coughing attacks when I can't breathe and thick mucus.

KoalasandRabbit · 27/02/2020 20:39

I've had a cough for 6 weeks or so now, don't feel especially ill with it more annoying. Hope everyone feels better soon. Mine's definitely just an annoying cough but it's one that you sometimes feel sick with, kids always seem to pass that one on.

bestbefore · 27/02/2020 20:54

Gah me too; feel crap. Mine started with a very sore throat and developed into a dry cough which is worse at night. Getting bit better now, been about 2 weeks. Sad
Pelvic floor also not holding up and I have painful ribs so am reluctant to cough...Sad

SophieLeGiraffe · 27/02/2020 20:59

Yes! Mine started as a heavy cold/flu-like thing which turned into extreme breathlessness (am asthmatic) which nothing would shift. Finally developed cough/more flu like symptoms and finally an infection they can treat with antibiotics. I’ve been ill since end of jan and hope this is the end of it as I don’t think I’ve ever been so ill! Not sure if it’s the same as you though as there’s another strain going round that starts with sore throat/cough and takes everyone down quickly and for a long time.

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 27/02/2020 21:05

Oh god I’ve just got this. It’s killing me. I was so hoping there would be a quick solution... I’ve got loads of green phlegm now that I keep hacking up, but I’m not sure if it’s worth seeing the doctor given all the coronavirus issues!

justanothersugar · 27/02/2020 21:12

Yes! I’ve had it for 3 weeks and am also pregnant, so dealing with morning sickness and only being able to take paracetamol. It is showing no signs of shifting. Send help for my family!

boogiebogie · 27/02/2020 22:24

Oh i feel for you pregnant... Out all day at work... Etc...i have allot of stuff on but am just too wiped out to do any of it and working from home but actually not. 3.5 weeks and am feeling a little better in myself. Have had a few showers which means i am on the mend i really hope as it is so horrid. I have paid an absolute fortune for liposomal vit c.. Herbs.. Etc :)

Fred578 · 27/02/2020 22:29

I had this throughout most of January. It was the worst illness I’ve had in years and I really struggled to shift it. I got better at one point only to go back downhill again. I feel for you all, it’s grim

Topseyt · 27/02/2020 22:33

I had it over Christmas and the first half of January. It was shit.

Bunnybigears · 27/02/2020 22:35

I've had it since early January, so hope it goes soon as I fear being kicked off the plane when I try and go on holiday!

Rhapsodyinpurple · 27/02/2020 22:51

I've had this too. Started with cold, then raging sore throat, then fever and fatigue- couldn't shift off sofa. Now I have a cough and loads of sticky green/bright yellow gunge. Delightful.

randomsabreuse · 28/02/2020 07:33

I've down joined DC2 in vomiting after coughing. Feel dizzy, shaky, random stabbing pains in my ribs.

No travel history at all - only been to Scotland and Liverpool since Christmas and live in an area with no likely contacts with more exotic places. DC1 has had cough for about 4 weeks too - so very unlikely to be Covid-19. Dc1 and I both flu vaccd too.

Think it's a ride it out job!

boogiebogie · 28/02/2020 11:48

Oh yes the weak shakyness :(

randomsabreuse · 28/02/2020 12:10

Felt worse than the day after a 10 mile race I was horribly under trained for just going downstairs then coming back up. Had to crawl. My legs are burning!

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 28/02/2020 12:23

DH had this virus. He had a terrible cough and pain in his ribs from the coughing, lost his voice, etc. The coughing at night was terrible. He still has the tail end of it with occasional coughing a month later! Luckily I seem to have avoided it so far, although have a sore throat which comes and goes so am hoping my immune system is fighting it off!! Hope you are all better soon.

nicki02 · 28/02/2020 14:58

I have had a nagging chesty cough since before Xmas. Had a chest X-ray done and it is all clear. Not to mention my ears are always popping and cracking. Had some antibiotics a couple of weeks ago but they have done nothing, has anyone got any ideas how to beat this.

moOmOoMooo · 28/02/2020 15:08

Yes I've had it. Was sick with it about 3 weeks ago, and it came back a few days ago although starting to ease. I haven't been bed bound though or high with a fever. Strange thing is, is that it's rare for me to get this sick.

boogiebogie · 28/02/2020 18:06

I havr baked some biscuits and actually wanted food today for 1st time in over 3 weeks so am hopeful i am on the mend. The symptoms for me have been exactly that of coronavirus... This bug has been around our school. So now wondering if we have all had the cv..... Or maybe flu.

TossACoinToYourWitcher · 28/02/2020 18:36

moOmOoMooo same here. I'm a runner and I'm hardly ever ill and if I do get a cold it doesn't last long but this has floored me.

Been ill with this since New Year. Had the sore throat, a temperature, bunged up nose, coughing so much I've retched, chesty cough. Haven't been able to smell or taste anything for nearly 8 weeks. I've never ever felt ill for so long. So fed up.

feelingdizzy · 28/02/2020 21:38

I've had this sore throat and an awful cough for weeks, couldn't lie down flat at night for about 10 days, and the tiredness was awful.Just starting to feel better it's been a month!

Surfer25 · 29/02/2020 08:11

I've just had it.

Started mid January and it appears I have finally stopped coughing

joystir59 · 29/02/2020 08:20

Definitely sounds like Corona to me.

Butterfly98 · 29/02/2020 08:21

Just out of curiosity has anyone's GP suggested testing for coronavirus? When do they decide that someone might be symptomatic of it rather than just a normal virus/bug?

Surfer25 · 29/02/2020 08:25

Corona?!

No temperature

People just have to don't they 🙄
