For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

oh dear..could it be something to do with the river?

BBBee · 27/08/2007 21:35

we too had a docotr who was 12. Mybe he wasn't a docotr in had wandered in from the children's ward having been playing dress up. He did that thing of calling me 'mum' - "now we will sit you on mum's knee," "how is mum doing" and it really annoyed me and I was thinking how can I be annoyed by this in such a scary situation.

Maybe I was his mum and I had blocked out the whole birth and adoptiona nd he didn't know how to broach it.

BBBee · 27/08/2007 21:36

what would she had done if you didn't seem sensible?

BBBee · 27/08/2007 21:37

okay imposing inapproapite logic - you have been sent home and they wouldn't let me go home so I imagine if they really susepct they keep you there? No?

HArd to imainge that you seem sensible in RL thoguh.

HOw is the rash now?

Boco · 27/08/2007 21:42

Surely they couldn't send you home if they thought meningitis? It can get worse so quickly - there are big boards in carparks saying that - they'd surely only let you home if they were pretty sure it's something else? If not, you should go back!

TooTicky · 27/08/2007 21:43

Oh 100x! I hope she perks up.

Now why is it, when our connection goes down for the night, that you all end up in bed together? Did you wait until I wasn't here? Well did you? You will be all intimate now and have in-jokes and at the meet up I will sit in the corner and pretend I don't care at all.

Now, 100x, where is that river? It's not near Farleigh Hungerford is it?

Franny, thank you very much for your Document. I have only skimmed it so far as it has been an odd day - will digest later. It looks jolly good

BBBee, your chicory complaint made me smile. I like Riverford because you know what will be in the boxes and can choose accordingly, although we do always seem to get more lettuce than we can use. I am not good at lettuce.

Today have eaten apple, peach, cucumber and alfalfa, divine stew with lots of homegrown peas, greengages, another peach, another apple, ratatouille with lentils. Total of 11 or 12 I think.

Off to Bath tomorrow to return dd1's school shoes and do girly things.

BBBee · 27/08/2007 21:48

TT - where aer you sourcing greengages? Arethe rife or only in 100x sainsburys?

BBBee · 27/08/2007 21:49

and are they the same as plums really?

TooTicky · 27/08/2007 21:51

Our lovely neighbour gives them to us
I think they are a variety of plum.

BBBee · 27/08/2007 21:53
ahundredtimes · 27/08/2007 21:58

I don't think they'd have said we could go home - would they? There was a lot of 'where do you live? oh that's not far. Early meningitis can look like this, but it is early.' WTF?

I couldn't work out whether she thought it wasn't but was hedging her bets because she's been qualified for about 4 minutes, or whether she was genuinely undecided.

I don't think it's the river zippi. Is a proper under the skin, totally non-blanching thing. Also more appeared whilst at the hospital. AND she had a terrible temperature, and said she had a headache and her neck hurt.

Why am I sitting here doing this? I shall check vigilantly. I shall wake her every two hours and shout in her ear 'Are you drowsy?'

FrayedKnot · 27/08/2007 22:01

100x worried about you & DD

I do know someone who got rash / temp after swimming in a river when we were kids. It was very common sorry, I thought it was just our particular river had something nasty in it.

How frightening will you take turns to sit with hr tonight?

TooTicky you can come to bed with me

BBBee · 27/08/2007 22:01

surely if they really suspect they don;t send you home they do a lumbar puncture.

You need to be doing something other than worrying but I cannot think what. can you put her on the seatee in teh kitchen where you can monitor her closely and get on with other things?

BBBee · 27/08/2007 22:05

"Swimming in algae can cause skin rashes and allergic reactions. "

there are a few sites taling about blue/green algae and river swimming. I hope it is that.

ahundredtimes · 27/08/2007 22:05

Yes I could, but she wanted to be in her bed, so I've put her there. DH and I are on shifts.

Ooh do you think the river FK? I hope so. This makes me feel quite cheerful. Only thing is she only really dipped in a bit, and then got out because it was cold and she was quiet all afternoon actually and just lay about on a rug wearing my sunglasses. And ds's jumped in and out in and out, and they are rash free.

Anyway. I reckon it's just a normal viral flu thing, because at the hospital they gave her double amounts of whatever to get her temperature down as it was so high, and then after that she cheered up and sat up and asked the doctor about her shoes. SO therefore she can't have meningitis.

Also they wouldn't have sent us home.

There. Fine. Okay. I'm going upstairs now to rock in the corridor outside her room.

FrannyandZooey · 27/08/2007 22:08

100 I am sorry

someone else asked for my Document and I forgot who, sorry

I have just blocked the upstairs sink by trying to unblock it

I am not sure if dp is speaking to me

he has been up since 6 am this morning looking after ds and doing jobs around the house for me and he has just gone upstairs with a plunger, some rods and a rather grim expresion

OP posts:
BBBee · 27/08/2007 22:09

seems to quick to be the river thing too.

Now she perked up and asked the doctor about her shoes - that must be good. they kept me there because DD seemed very drowsy and disorientated AND it tuned out to be a chest infection not anything worse but the drowsiness was a bad sign. Medicine working and asking about shoes is therefore a good sign - surely.

BBBee · 27/08/2007 22:11

how did you block the sink by trying to unblock it? surely it was blocked already - anyway they like doin all that kind of stuff really.

Was me who asked for bulk cooking. Oh and I didn't mean I wasn't myself on here I meant that there are somethings I don;t like that I do so I don't tell you!

FrannyandZooey · 27/08/2007 22:11

Oh and WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO ABOUT THE SUPERFOODS??????

do I have to do anything? New thread? New rules? I feel I have taken this suggestion on board very well and now no-one else is really getting into the spirit of it [harrumph]

OP posts:
BBBee · 27/08/2007 22:12

oh god and I started that meet up thread too - as I say introspective!

FrannyandZooey · 27/08/2007 22:12

It was only partially blocked. The water was taking a while to go down so I thought I would take out the stopper thing and have a rummage around with a hair grip

now it is wedged solid and no water can go down at all

OP posts:
BBBee · 27/08/2007 22:13

no no I like the superfoods thing - can't work out how we could do it though - hmm - try and have a certain numbe a day? Or have eaten 10 superfoods by the end of the week? all quite complicated thoguh - bit like a gameshow.

Have ben doing really well 10/10 wise but my tummy is taking a while to - hmm - adjust.

BBBee · 27/08/2007 22:14

oh and the things I don't share are silly things like warbortons white sliced bread and cheerios (NOT NESTLE SAINSBURYS OWN)

FrannyandZooey · 27/08/2007 22:15

Have sent it BBB - no-one I sent it to has replied so I suspect it is crap and everyone too polite to say so

100 I am off to bed shortly but I truly hope your dd is ok. I hope you have a decent night. What a nasty, worrying thing

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 27/08/2007 22:16

Well there are things everyone does that we edit, surely?

I was picking my feet just then but I didn't tell you about it. Oh.
