For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I'd like to live at that nursery as well LL. I want to swing in the apple tree.

BBBee · 27/08/2007 10:29

LL- oh the jams and jelies is divine and threaputic - there are times whne you forget to pay attention and the next thing you know there is boling jam bubbling explosivly out of the pan and burning you hands and you do that thing where you shout loads of swear words you didn't even know you knew - but that just adds to the excitment. You sound a bit brighter LL - now what would you like to do today? decide that and then come on here and tell us what you would like to do and we will fashion it into an adventrue scenario for your son and then you will have a wonderful time.

Filthy - the idea of you on a sleepover scare me somewhat - you are a bit like the wolf in red riding hood. You can come but we will tie you up (restraints not perversion)

I have had a cup of coffee and two plums.

where is avi? I always miss her.

100- keep displacing - you wouldnt have let them go if deep down you didn't know it was okay.

filthymindedvixen · 27/08/2007 10:30

Elaborate please?

BBBee · 27/08/2007 10:34

PSW -Wait - you have to tell us where you are going first!

BBBee · 27/08/2007 10:35

i think it is purely based on your name.

filthymindedvixen · 27/08/2007 10:36

Humph. One Big Bad wolf and the rest of us get labelled for generations afterwards..mutter mutter

filthymindedvixen · 27/08/2007 10:37

I used to be Fullmoonfiend. Not sure if that's any better )

Lullabyloo · 27/08/2007 10:40

100x...hurray!!!!

I saw numerous nurseries..not really sure that i wanted ds to go at all & was miserable at most that i viewed...but this one was heaven,calm,beautiful,nurturing,fab...I instantly was on an up & relaxed & smiley & so didn't want to leave...if ds doesn't like it...i may well go.The staff are just lovely.I was wondering whether to prime them about what's been happening to us..so that if ds's behaviour is strange they will be forewarned & be attentive & aware of his needs more so than normal.Sensible ...or not?

okay...ds & I are going for a picnic by the river in tonbridge & on a rowing boat, then on to fayre & sheep dog trials/face painting/stalls etc at the Castle..dh will then meet us for a swim.....

filthymindedvixen · 27/08/2007 10:42

LL if you are comfortable sharing that info, it is sensible to let them know at nursery ( I speak as a former pre-school worker). But bear in mind there will inevitably be 'teething problems' for 90 per cent of children starting nursery/preschool for the first time for a couple of weeks so why not wait and see?

BBBee · 27/08/2007 10:51

LL would give it a few weeks and then pick a member of staff who is approachable if you feel like sharing it. It might be helpful for them to know. It will be an extra element of support.

Oh god - I am being so patronising - ahave taken a trip out into the big wide mumsnet world and have been all caring and sympathetic and downright bloody annoying. Am going to so some colouring in with dd before somoen starts a thread about what a bloody know-it-all I am.

Lullabyloo · 27/08/2007 11:02

impossible Bee...you are lovely

ds's behaviour is just 'angry' & out of character at the mo...i dont want them to feel this is normal for him

hi I have skipped through how can you write so much in such a short time?

I took myself to london yesterday afternoon and went to the dali and film at the Tate Modern which was good and interesting but also one of the most tiring exhibitions I have ever been to..I have now definitely seen Un chien Andalou but I still don't know whether i have actually watched it before or not..it is one of those bizarre things that you know so well that you think you have seen it when quite possible you haven't except for the iconic stills and clips

the riverscape is amazing and the scent of incense and clouds of smoke in st pauls was overwhelming..i pretended i was a tortured artist/writer type to distract myself from thinking how romantic the trip would have been with someone else

anyway it was good and I am going to be back there soon because there is a louise Bourgeois exhibition starting next month and hse is one of my favourite artists

ahem no fruit or veg no exercise

I would if i could...Ithink Franny is the one who knows about london

there was something to do with ice at the museum of mankind..ice station antractica which i thought sounds good, but you would have to ask someone who has been

FrannyandZooey · 27/08/2007 13:38

Morning, another one here in utter of the beautiful nursery. LL I would certainly tell them about your health problems (another ex-nursery worker here). It's extremely relevant and will be very helpful for them to know.

Have had raisins, strawberries, 3 kiwis.

House is getting into shape again. My god it takes so LONG. And we now have a spare room! Which you can walk in! And put a bed in! But where do we put the hoover? And my boxes of work stuff? And the huge bag of rejected boots that the courier is going to come and collect sometime this week? Where do you all put STUFF in your house?

and this sounds fun in theory on 2 sept

regent street festival india for the day

zippitippitoes · 27/08/2007 13:41

in fact i might think about going to that it sounds like a good photo project

my stuff is all over

FrannyandZooey · 27/08/2007 13:46

I don't really know London that well but I do like it. Avi when are you going? With a 2 year old I would do the Diana playground in Kensington gardens, and perhaps Discover story trail in Stratford, and of course the Garden in the Basement at the Science Museum. And a play at The Polka if there is something on that's suitable.

zippitippitoes · 27/08/2007 13:59

and I've now had 2 nectarines a banana and an apple

BBBee · 27/08/2007 14:55

hey zippi - how are you? I love the tate - we lived near there - I go all squirmy when people talk about it - ahh!

Avi - I always mis you.

I have had 2 plums and an apple. Am aout to make tatties curry for tea. Have drunk lots of black tea today -feel most serene.

someone (100 I think) had the idea of doing superfoods one week - I love that idea. Am not too sure about what they all are but we need to have porridge and blueberries and beetroot. What else (please not chicory).

Oh and I have done the execreise went with my dad and the children for an hour and a half walk.

filthymindedvixen · 27/08/2007 15:04

pomegranites, alliums (onions, leeks, garlic etc), quinoa (that's right F&Z, you get to look smug ) avacados, goji berries, nuts and seeds, oats, beans esp red beans apparently. there are more I'm sure. A new 'superfood' is marketed at us every week or so....

But you have to weigh up how much of these supposed superfods one needs to consume to have any benefit. Personally, I believe in eating a wide rangeof colours is more beneficial to my health than eating some hideous-flavoured and expesnive seaweed. But feel free to disagree.

Boco · 27/08/2007 15:04

Went to the rare breed farm with friend to cheer her up, and stroked hairy rare breed piglets, but friend distraught and it was only a slight distraction

I had a cream tea - for lunch, which is wrong, but only because the only other option was ham roll, and after playing with the piglets, the ham just wouldn't have been right.

BBBee · 27/08/2007 15:05

yes FMV I get what you mean - a lot of hype around super foods - like goji berries - that is all hype isn't it?

BBBee · 27/08/2007 15:07

oh boco your poor friend - even the pig didn't cheer her up. Has she just broken up from a relationship? Maybe your lovely family is too much?
