QUICK HELP My 2 year old swallowed WASHING UP LIQUID

StarryStarryNight · 13/08/2007 11:36

I was in the other room, and I heard him cough, so went to check, he has climbed up on a chair to the sink, managed to reach the washing up liquid, half the bottle is gone, most is in the sink, but his arms are covered in it. Dont know how much he managed to swallow.

What is the best course of action? I have given him some milk (base vs acid) and a waffle.....

Should I just leave him to it? He is eating waffle and watching tv.

I wouldn't be in any hurry to encourage stomach-pumping on anyone, let alone a two year old - read this

What's the official MN position - worse for you Fairy or Fruit Shoot?

Hope wee one's ok now, Starry, some days there's just no stopping them....

ledodgy · 13/08/2007 16:12

I think you'd be hard pushed to find anyone that can physically swallow half a bottle of washing up liquid.

Desiderata · 13/08/2007 16:14

... but then again, fuck it. I'm not very nice

casbie, you seem to be deliberately spoiling for a fight and you're in a minority of one at the moment. If you carry on making these ridiculous statements, I'm going to squirt fairy liquid in your eye.

And then we'll all have to get you eye-pumped.

LOL

desiderata, now YOU also owe me a new keyboard (only this time its juice insrtead of coffee ive snorted all over it)

diplodocus · 13/08/2007 16:30

God, is this still going?
Let us know if he farts bubbles SSN.

JeremyVile · 13/08/2007 16:38

Oh, Casbie.
I have the urge to give you one of those 'boy' hugs - where you squeeze a bit too tight and grind your knuckles into the other persons scalp.
Its a love-hate thing.
You are, in not quite equal measures, infuriating and hilarious!

magnolia1 · 13/08/2007 16:49

Hope he's ok Starry

clumsymum · 13/08/2007 17:05

Starry, I'm sure your LO is ok now, certainly hope so.

And this thread is giving me a giggle.

Love your post, JeremyVile

this still going, with Casbie fuelling for a washing up liquied bubble fight?

(I left my laptop as my powercharger was in the luggage that accidentally went to zurich, and just now found my spare power charger)

My son is still fine. Tired, after getting to bed at 11 pm (flew back in last night, delayed by lost luggage) and been up since 7 am.

I suspect his stomach is so full of bubbles, he will stay up for another few days. I shall encourage him to jump up and down a lot to see what happens - JOKING!

Casbie, are you the only one who did not get that he did not actually drink the lot?

Thanks to all of you who have given sound advise, encouragement, and shown a sense of humour....

StarryStarryNight, just to pass on what I found out today when I phoned nhs24 due to my 15mo drinking liquid soap -
they said that giving some infacol can help their tums afterwards, as may be a wee bit sore and windy.

MerlinsBeard · 13/08/2007 19:55

just checking in tosee how he was...laptop ran out if battery earlier and DS2 had "safely put away" the charger

Have to say that i did at first think you knew that he had drunk half abottle then it became clear that he hadn't but then i got mixed up with dishwasher stuff and wash up.

Apologies for my posts earlier SSN!!

StarryStarryNight · 13/08/2007 20:04

Thanks, he is just fine, eating drinking, being chased by his brother, running around with a torchlight, really he should be in bed! LOL!

It turned out to be a right funny thread, did this!!

I'm glad he's fine, Starry!

StarryStarryNight · 13/08/2007 20:34

Indeed Desi! It sure did put a smile on my face (though initially I was far from smiling)

Get yourself over to my CRUSH thread!

Starry - I agree with all advice thus far excluding casbie's.

I would ask you to have considerable caution when he next uses the potty/fills his nappy.

He is most likely to be blowing bubbles for some time

Desiderata · 13/08/2007 20:43

I'm on my way!

diplodocus · 13/08/2007 21:36

Glad it's all turned out well
...wanders off to make pan fried brillo pads with a toilet duck coulis for dinner....

Desiderata · 13/08/2007 21:39

Ha ha ha!

Very funny, dip!

So, what's happened to the Flying Doctor?
