Onlyjoking - your bravery through all this is astonishing. I hope things are the best they can be for you in the upcoming weeks.

onlyjoking9329 · 25/08/2007 20:56

Thanks, i don't know thats it's bravery, we are just getting throu the best way we can, we can't change things so we just have to get on with it, thats how i feel today, tomorrow may well be different we have a family BBQ to go to, that might be difficult.

just popped out of lurking to see how you

are doing, it sounds as thou you are coping

really well, i doubt i could be as strong

as you. your kids are adorable and steve

looks lovely too.

i don't come on very often but when i do i

always check this thread.

take care of yourself hun.

onlyjoking9329 · 25/08/2007 23:18

Thanks, love the name. we have days of coping and days of pretending to cope.
i think tomorrow maybe difficult, big family get together.

BandofMothers · 25/08/2007 23:25

OJ, hope you enjoy the day even if it's hard.

Don't feel you have to be strong all the time. You are allowed to have moments, and I'm sure your families will understand.

Didn't realise this was you in the bar earlier.

onlyjoking9329 · 25/08/2007 23:30

Thanks BOM, its just that there will be lots of people there who don't know, so there will be lots of questions and awkward moments.
it was nice to have a drink in the bar with you.

is it this week steve starts his treatment?
make sure and do some lovely stuff before treatment starts won't you.
xxx

onlyjoking9329 · 26/08/2007 21:24

we are hoping to go away wednesday night
we are at the hospital on friday to have the head mould made, if his swelling has gone down enough, fingers crossed as this is holding up his treatment

OP posts:
Tiggerish · 26/08/2007 21:34

how was the BBQ OJ? Not too stressful I hope

onlyjoking9329 · 26/08/2007 22:35

BBQ went well, nobody said anything at all, nieces and nephew mentioned making plans for a family holiday next summer, Steve just said thats a long way off for us to think about.

OP posts:
robinpud · 27/08/2007 02:15

I don't know what must be worse OJ- people saying nothing or people asking you too many questions. I hope you all enjoyed the bbq anyway. I hope the kids' HT is helpful and can reassure you that they will be there for the kids whenever they need support.
thinking of you and sending you a little chocolate to keep you going!

the kids HT wanted to know what info we wanted the staff team to know. it was a hard conversation.
sometimes i can do factual other times i just do emotional

OP posts:
fryalot · 27/08/2007 10:55

you can be forgiven for doing emotional. Did you get across what you wanted though?

onlyjoking9329 · 27/08/2007 11:13

i think i got the info across.
steve has some Arnica cream not sure if that is helping but he keeps using it just in case

we will look at the homeopathic stuff soon i think, steve has just agreed to a homeopathic sleeping tablet as he is awake a lot at night. he is not keen on taking meds, which is a bit of a shame as he will no doubt be having more meds soon , his chemo is by tablet too.
thanls for the blog link will save and read soon.
