morning oj, has steve decided where you're going for lunch?

morningpaper · 16/08/2007 09:36

OJ xxx

robinpud · 16/08/2007 10:04

Go somewhere nice- if he's up to driving then what about Derbyshire- I like the cafe at the Chatsworth shop or the Monsal Head cafe.. anywhere that does buns and proper tea will do for me!
Hope you got some sleep and that you can have a good day together.

LilyLoo · 16/08/2007 10:06

Have a lovely day out today! It's good to see your humour coming through in your posts it will help you through this difficult time if you can find things to smile about.

Mhamai · 16/08/2007 10:16

Enjoy your lunch today oj. x

DutchOma · 16/08/2007 11:05

Sorry to ask, but are you alright for money?

IsabelWatchingItRainInMacondo · 16/08/2007 11:15

OJ, Enjoy the lunch, and the quiet

... and think about making a formal complaint to the hospital. I'm not known for advocating sueing but please consider the idea, if not for the money, to scare them enough to revise the services in offer. They will put enough mechanisms in place/revise procedures to prevent such case being repeated in the future, if you do. I know is not good for Steve now, but it may save someone else's life.

Rhubarb · 16/08/2007 11:16

It's so sad that today we have the good news about Peter but sad news about Steve.

I'll keep them both in my thoughts. It must be very hard for you onlyjoking.

TigerFeet · 16/08/2007 11:24

So very sorry OJ

onlyjoking9329 · 16/08/2007 11:31

the kids have all gone out, steve is asleep and i am catching up on stuff.
we are going to caudwell mills in rowsley as it is steves fav place all food is veggie.
money is not an issue for us right now. steve is adamant that he won't claim DLA or anything else, as long as social services come up with some extra money for the kids to have their days out with their direct payment workers we will be ok.

So sorry OJ. It's so desperate isn't it. So angry they made such a massive mistake. We were told though when we were told dh had months and we were furious it had taken 5 weeks for the biopsy results to come through and then they were inconclusive, that the timing of treatment doesn't make a huge difference to the outcome. The other way to look at it is you've had all that time from Jan - Aug not knowing it was high grade. If it's true that starting the treatment earlier wouldn't make much difference to the outcome (and I'm not sure if that was a cop out), you've had those few months in semi-blissful ignorance. Not sure if that's good or not ...

I considered contacting Winston's Wish who have a helpline and can give you advice on how to prepare children for this.

Sending you love and prayers x

onlyjoking9329 · 16/08/2007 12:18

thing is steves remaining time is precious and they should have done the scan much sooner. you can probably tell i am argry about this, steve says you can't change what has happened.
