Fat belly? No. Ovarian Cancer Belly (part 3) still going!

TwitterQueen1 · 25/07/2019 13:10

This is the story of my ovarian cancer discovery and treatment from March 2017 to now. I hope it proves informative / interesting / thoughtful ... and most of all, perhaps make someone think 'actually I need to go the doctor about this and not just assume I've got a pelvic floor / weight problem'.

I am not having treatment - I was on an early phase trial with olaparib and cedirinab, which was going well but the doctors discovered brain mets in May, and after targeted radiotherapy there's not much else they can do.

I'm recently home after 3 weeks in hospital with pneumonia and sepsis so I cannot promise any exciting tales (except falling over). I moan a lot about steroid-induced diabetes.

Happy to hear any terrible (or good) jokes, rants, raves, anecdotes. I was/am a woolly hugger but can't do anything right now.

Here is part 1

Here is part 2

I'm sorry the team haven't been upfront with you, TQ. It's not a good way of dealing with patients. They should be establishing whether you want full and frank information or whether you want minimal information and then doing what you want.

I wonder if Gabapentin could help with the nerve pain? It might be worth telling them about your symptoms and asking if they can do anything.

Pennina · 08/08/2019 10:08

Oh TQ, so sorry to hear you're in so much pain. You poor thing it's so bloody crap isn't it? I hope that while you're in hospital being drained they can attend to this and get you sorted out properly with some decent meds so that you can go on your birthday trip.

You are very much in my thoughts

Gonegrey31 · 08/08/2019 10:42

Another one so wishing that today's procedure brings relief from all the pain and that you get away, or at least can be home, for Sunday. Thinking of you xxx

nakedscientistOfThigh · 08/08/2019 13:20

You have my thoughts and best wishes, you are an exceptional character.

TheTurnOfTheScrew · 08/08/2019 14:42

really sorry to hear you're back in. Fingers crossed for a birthday escape, and for speedy access to some half-decent pain relief.

bookbook · 08/08/2019 15:21

thinking of you TQ - but I don't see why you shouldn't cry when in pain. What on earth does a stiff upper lip help in these circumstances ?
I hope the overnight visit offers you some relief .

anitagreen · 08/08/2019 20:13

Hi @TwitterQueen1 I've just spent the last 24 hours reading through all your threads as they popped up in the active bit on here, I'm so sorry for what you've been through and still going through it's so shit.

If I was your DD I'd be very proud of you. Thanks take care x

FrappeLatte · 08/08/2019 20:19

Shelovesmilktray · 09/08/2019 07:39

Everything crossed that you escape in time to spend the weekend with the lovely dd’s (Ma L) xxx

Bloodybridget · 09/08/2019 14:10

Ah TQ sorry that you have to go into hospital, hope it is just overnight and that you are more comfortable after the drain. Fingers crossed that you are home and able to enjoy your birthday on Sunday.

Wintersnowdrop · 09/08/2019 17:39

So sorry to hear that you are feeling so poorly @TwitterQueen1. It must be very difficult for you and your dd’s. I remember you saying your youngest is in the same year as my ds. I hope you feel better after the Ascites is drained and you are able to get some pain relief sorted. Are you at the local hospital or further afield? Thinking of you 😘

mrsed1987 · 09/08/2019 22:34

Thinking of you TQ. I remember how uncomfortable my mum was but how much relief the drainage gave her

Proseccoinamug · 10/08/2019 09:32

Happy Birthday TQ

I hope you’re home and more comfortable, spending time with your lovely daughters.

Applesandpears23 · 10/08/2019 09:46

Hi TQ, I remember your earlier threads and I just found this one. I hope you got some relief from the most recent procedure. How are your daughters doing?

Abraid2 · 10/08/2019 11:57

Happy birthday, TQ!

mrsed1987 · 10/08/2019 12:00

Happy birthday. Same day as my brother and nephew xx

Wintersnowdrop · 10/08/2019 13:21

Iirc it’s actually TwitterQueen1’s birthday tomorrow. Hope that she is feeling better after the Ascites draining and that she is able to celebrate her birthday tomorrow with her daughters.

Proseccoinamug · 10/08/2019 14:44

Agh, sorry, that’s my fault,I thought today was Sunday 🙈

iVampire · 10/08/2019 17:48

Did your Parkrun for you today - in quite a good time, somewhat to my surprise. I guess it was because it was cooler

Hope you are comfortable, the right temperature (and not affected by power cuts recently or storms today - unless of course you like storms, in which case I hope you had a humdinger!)

TwitterQueen1 · 10/08/2019 20:49

Still in hospital sadly. The asites will keep coming back so they won't take the drain out until the last minute. Girls in Cornwall - lots of steps in the house apparently so it wouldn't have been suitable.even if I had been feeling ok. Breathlessness still an issue.
My father rang to wish me happy birthday today. after 60 years You would think he would know it's tomorrow! Xx

Oh I’m sorry to hear that you are still in hospital and that that you didn’t get to Cornwall. Sorry that the house wasn’t suitable either. Hopefully you are feeling more comfortable. Bless your dad. Is he local to you? When will your girls be back?

soccerbabe · 10/08/2019 21:35

that's a pain that you're stuck in hospital for your birthday. sorry about cornwall.

Brassica · 10/08/2019 22:00

So sorry that you are stuck in hospital TQ and hope you aren’t dealing with it all alone. It must suck big time. I don’t suppose there’s much that words on a computer screen can do to help you feel better but I and evidently lots of others on here are thinking about you and wishing you relief from the ascites, pain, boredom and whatever else might be persecuting you at the moment.

And wishing you a very happy birthday for tomorrow Flowers Cake!

9years · 11/08/2019 01:10

Gonegrey31 · 11/08/2019 05:32

Happy Birthday lovely TQ! Lots of Flowers for you x
