I gave up for 4 months earlier in the year, got super fit and felt wonderful.
But just before I went on holiday I had 2 disasters and just reached for the fags, and am still smoking now 3 months on.
I am currently working in a cancer hospital and even though this should put me off, I get so stressed and upset there that I smoke, and then get more stressed and upset because I'm still smoking.
I have tried since coming back but everytime I pick a day it never happens. I havent been to the gym for ages and feel like shit most of the time.

So please help me try again, I finish this placement on Saturday so that might be an option, and I have a nicotine inhalator that I used previosuly to give up.

Any tips or advice?

think you can get them on prescription from the NHS stop smoking service. If you can't get to the service, a lot of pharmacies are in the scheme.

TheQueenOfQuotes · 02/08/2007 20:43

no it's not my prescriptions are free .

......and there's only 6!!! It makes me cross when I see the price of these stop smoking aids - for people like us that don't smoke many a day they are very expensive. I can buy a box of 20 cigarettes which will last me for 3-4 days (depending on how stressed I've been lol) for £5.15.

mosschops30 · 02/08/2007 20:47

Come on now dont be like that those six cartidges will last you about the same days-wise. Its cheaper than the patches which I agree are robbery at £17 a pack.

You could buy this then get a script from the doc for yourm refils. Dont leave me to give up all on my own we have a pact, you me and fakeblonde

moss - you had the ciggie for me yet - I'm aching for one here - and I could do with it before I go and sort the kitchen (bombsite) out ......

southeastastra · 02/08/2007 21:04

put me down as a possible. tonight i lost a packet and went through the bin to find them. tragic

fishie · 02/08/2007 21:05

i gave up four years ago after smoking 20 a day for 18 years. it wasn't easy but it wasn't half as bad as i feared. this book was excellent. i didn't like allen carr.

i used an inhalator jobby, it is good because not particularly pleasant. dp ended up on nicorette gum for 5 years so beware swapping addictions and plan to cut down pretty sharpish.

mosschops30 · 03/08/2007 13:03

Hi mammya and gothicmama how are you getting on today?

I read some of allen carr last night, and actually woke up this morning not fancying a fag. However I have smoked 2 today now as he says to continue smoking until youve finished so I will finish it by saturday night (probably tonight actually as have a 11 hour night shift to get thru).

Plus I went to the gym this morning, and one of the personal trainers who I know asked why I hadnt been for ages and I told him I had got really lazy, started smoking again and generally feel like shit. He reckons I need a good kick up the arse from him and is gonna sort out some cheap training sessions for me

Hi Mosschops, I'm doing OK actually, I didn't smoke today or yesterday. Had terrible cravings yesterday, a bit better today. I am quite pleased and rewarded myself with some chocolate. I think I should also set aside the £5 or so a day I was spending on fags. Imagine! I'd be saving £35 a week! I could treat myself to something nice in no time!

How about you? Looking forward to Sunday?
