So sorry for being so crude, but im concerned.

What is normal for doing a number 2 in an adult?

I eat an average diet, not fantastic but not utter shite, and drink water/squash like its going to run out.

I will expain why im worried once i have some answers!

once a day is normal.

I have IBS and you don't want to know how may times I go when it is bad.

Imawurzel · 27/07/2007 19:48

I can go a couple times a day (not lots though ) or nothing for 3 days.

tortoise · 27/07/2007 19:49

Once or twice a day.

mslucy · 27/07/2007 19:51

always in the morning.

then maybe an extra one if I've eaten lots of fruit/veg.

I eat quite a high fibre diet so they're usually quite impressive!

Dh is always on the shitter - his bowels are a legend.

btw. poos are known as trout in our house - one of the coppers in Life on Mars came out with the classic phrase
"I've just left a few brown trout swimming in the bookies khasi"

ivykaty44 · 27/07/2007 19:52

regular - twice a day

LadyMacbeth · 27/07/2007 19:53

Ummm.... once a day, usually in the morning after my coffee!

whoopsfallenoveragain · 27/07/2007 19:54

Regularly twice a day!

Wisteria · 27/07/2007 19:57

Twice (maybe 3/4 times during time of the month ahem )

paolosgirl · 27/07/2007 19:59

Every 2/3 days - doesn't matter what I eat or drink (but I have a good diet w. lots of water)

Gross Alert - DH goes 5/6 times a day

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 27/07/2007 19:59

Used to be about once a week! Now it's once a day and sooooo much better

Idobelieveinfairies · 27/07/2007 19:59

When consulting my ds'd peadiatricain about such matters a while ago..he told me there is no such thing as 'normal' bowel movements as everyone is different.

What people need to watch out for is a 'difference' in your bowel movements..ie going twice a day to going once every 4 days..or vice versa. colour etc..

IdrisTheDragon · 27/07/2007 20:00

About once a day.

PersonalClown · 27/07/2007 20:00

About once or twice a day. Average diet.

coleyboy · 27/07/2007 20:00

Once or twice a day.

Wisteria - I had to read yours twice. I thought you meant you done three quarters of a poo, then I realised what you meant!! Was trying to work out how on earth you would go about doing part of a poo!

Wisteria · 27/07/2007 20:03

ROFL

Note to self - Must preview in future...

JARM · 27/07/2007 20:04

I havent been since Sunday night

I usually only go 3 times a week, but this is getting silly now.

Im going through phases of nothing for nearly a week and a day of non-stop

Just wondering if there is a reason for this, or whether its actually ok.

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 27/07/2007 20:06

Do you have any pain JARM? Either now or when you're going alot?

Wisteria · 27/07/2007 20:07

Try putting some bran in your meals and up your fresh fruit intake. Caffeine helps too I think.

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 27/07/2007 20:20

Are you on the loo at last JARM?

JARM · 27/07/2007 20:28

Pain when i go - most of the time yes.

Have just managed a small poo (TMI!) but i do feel uncomfortable, very bloated.

The days I go a lot, its the runs, probably a once weekly occurance.

I guess im scared because my mum had chrons disease and died of it nearly 3yrs ago. But im slightly clueless as to the symptoms

Idobelieveinfairies · 27/07/2007 20:31

I think you should go and have a chat with your g.p about it. It's probably nothing but at least you will feel better for checking. The stress of it will just prolong it all anyway so best get it sorted.

WideWebWitch · 27/07/2007 20:32

Only read OP but expect to find this thread bizarrely fascinating

LadyTophamSortingHatt · 27/07/2007 20:33

Jarm, I had horrendous constipation when I was PG with DS4.

It was agony and resulted in a lovely episode of piles which, 6 months one still appaear at times!!!

I tried all sorts to make it easier to go but in all honesty, nothing worked fro longer than a day or 2.

You have my sympathy.

WideWebWitch · 27/07/2007 20:36

OK, just skimmed and I think you should look at your diet, in particular:

are you eating enough fruit/veg/stuff with fibre in it?

are you drinking enough water?

do you get any exercise?

Post what you eat, I bet it's related, that doesn't sound enough to me, once a week. And it really shouldn't hurt to go to the loo,

I think it's perfectly normal to be worrieda bout crohns if your mtoher died of it but I'd look at your diet before you started getting remotely worried about any of that malarkey. Really, tell us what you eat.

JARM · 27/07/2007 20:47
