So sorry for being so crude, but im concerned.

What is normal for doing a number 2 in an adult?

I eat an average diet, not fantastic but not utter shite, and drink water/squash like its going to run out.

I will expain why im worried once i have some answers!

Well that's only 1-2 portions veg/fruit and if you're not drinking enough water then it will make you constipated, for sure.

gotta go, but try eating more veg/fruit and less meat and drinkinb more water and then cmoe and tell us, bet it's fine.

thanks guys, i think i do need to up my water intake, probably average 3 glasses a day and 1 cup of tea.

ive got to be so careful with some fruit and i cant have nuts as they have me in agony and on the toilet for hours, which i feel i need at the moment, but when im nearly 23weeks pregnant im trying to avoid that as much as possible.

Only fruit i can eat is strawberries, bananas and grapes unforutantely.

congratulations on your pregnancy and in that case this is probably happening because you are pregnant...most bodily things change when you are pregnant.

Do try increasing fluid intake and also mention it to your midwife/g.p, they might have some more suggestions for you too.

ice-lollies can help too!

Hope you feel better soon.

bozza · 27/07/2007 21:01

JARM I got constipated at that stage in both my pregnancies. It is quite a normal thing, but obviously to be avoided. I used to eat dried apricots to combat it. Can you not eat dried fruit either?

JARM · 27/07/2007 21:02

i might try some dried fruit, havent had any for a while, so not sure what effect it will have on me.

thanks for the advice guys, my biggest fear has been put aside now x

Dryed apricots will sort you out - the same sort of effect as prunes. Watch out though for flatulence

You can also buy probiotcs at a health store in tablet form they will help to keep you regular.

JARM · 27/07/2007 21:16

thank you. am going to hit sainsburys tomorrow.

those yakult drink things

ivykaty44 · 27/07/2007 21:23

Its just that the yakult drinks have sugar in them and this always has a bad effect on some peeps and you get thrush (sorry) So you get rid of one problem and can end up with another

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 27/07/2007 22:23

JARM - you have my sympathy. I once didn't go for two weeks - flying, two weeks abroad, dehydrated, just completely cocked up my system.

I have bowel problems and have had some surgery. The main thing for me is exercise - it's made a huge difference. Obviously if you're pg then that causes its own problmes (congraulations ). Dried apricots can help, prune juice and loads and loads of water.

Can understand your worries though, especially with your mum.

Lyndag · 28/07/2007 16:34

Jarm - my cousin and a friend both have Crons and I don't think its herediatary (SP) but I had constipation when at your stage of pregnancy...

For peace of mind over the Crons go to your GP once you have had the bubba if your still having the problems.... my cousin can't eat too much fibre and my friend can't eat too much meat so each person with Crons has different triggers..
