its taking over the world. well, his foot anyway. doesnt seem to hurt him much but is ugly as hell and growing alarmingly and will no doubt spread to us all...

local gp 'verruca clinic' is sporadic. earliest time we are booked for is Aug 5th.

anyone done home freezing? do they work?

what about a chiropodist (dps idea) would they treat it for us?

so we're going to give it a go too.

will you report back glitterfairy? we can have our very own verruca support thread

Can't remember the age limit but i used Bazooka on ds1 when he was about 7 or so. It forms a tippex-like cover on the verruca and dissolves the beast so you can file off the cast off layers of skin. Had tried all sorts of things but this was the one that worked.

glitterfairy · 14/07/2007 23:07

Well dd has been using banana skins for two weeks nearly now and the tiny ones are going but it doesnt seem to have made a big difference on the others.

puffylovett · 14/07/2007 23:15

you could try a drop of neat tea tree oil, it's an excellent anti-fungal/anti-viral/anti-everything. ALso there's a product called Wartner which is supposed to b quite good...

AugustusRookWhooosh · 14/07/2007 23:17

Oh please just don't do what my Dad did to me and yank it out by the root with tweezers-I can still feel it now over 20yrs on!

TranquilaManana · 15/07/2007 09:45

ouch whoosh!

well, he had the banana skin in plaster n all last night and a new one this morning. he hates it, says it hurts and keeps trying to pull it off.

its quite a biggie so ... if you say it hasnt touched the big ones glitter, i dont think we can keep this up for 2 weeks if its not even guaranteed to work.

i bought a wartner home freezing thing... tried it once but he wouldnt sit still enough. could get dp to hold him down i guess, but i dont want to traumatise the poor thing.

hmmmmmmm

oh, bazooka means you have to file it? in stages? hes never going to go for that (hes a little drama queen and a terrible patient, much like his mother)

You could just simply leave the verruca and take care to cover it when you go swimming and wear a plaster for school PE so you don't infect other people. Verrucas often die on their own without any treatment, but it might take up to two years.

Freezing is very painful and I think would be extremely traumatic for a four year old.

stressteddy · 15/07/2007 22:21

I've been on these type of threads loads before and no-one seems to take me seriously grrrr!!
I promise you this works...
Rub a radish on the verruca every day as oftern as possible and within a few weeks it will be gone
None of this mashing up banana stuff!

I would just leave it untreated.

tis me - I have radii around ma front door!!!

(That's not to say you should discount my advice tranquila!)

stressteddy · 15/07/2007 22:26

would it not be great if the plural of radish were indeed radii???
(Stressteddy goes off on her own little happy path....again!)

Reallytired · 15/07/2007 22:28

Have you personally ever had a verruca frozen off? I had by a proper chirropodist and it was really painful. I was 19 years old and I wanted to cry.

Essentially the skin of the verruca is killed by something cold, like carbon ice or I think the chirropodist who treated me used liquid nitrogen.

Unless the verruca is causing pain, I would leave it and just take precautions to prevent infection of other people. It may be unsightly, but your son isn't going to die.

I had a verucca treated for 6 months
Frozen off - didn't work
Cut out - didn't work
Ulcerated off - (fucking hell - how painful?) Didn't work

Radish - worked a treat!

Reallytired · 15/07/2007 22:35

At least the Radish won't hurt the kid.

Prehaps the vitamin C in the Radish helps the body's immune system. Who knows.

Quiddaitch · 15/07/2007 22:37

rofl at the radish cure

Reallytired · 15/07/2007 22:38

"rofl at the radish cure "

No more ridiculous than homopathy.
