its taking over the world. well, his foot anyway. doesnt seem to hurt him much but is ugly as hell and growing alarmingly and will no doubt spread to us all...

local gp 'verruca clinic' is sporadic. earliest time we are booked for is Aug 5th.

anyone done home freezing? do they work?

what about a chiropodist (dps idea) would they treat it for us?

I second Cod: Wartner is rubbish. Tried it 4 times on DS - did absolutely nothing and now the verruca - which was little - is blooming enormous. Off to buy this other stuff you recommend.

why thank you orrible (lovely name btw), i shall take your wise words as fortification on my crusade against this foul growth.

update: have been doing the banana thing faithfully...and now it hurts him. he was all owowowee when i changed the plaster this AM.
have bought radishes.
have much skepticism tho.
still booked to go to docs in aug. only hope it works first time, or at least the second as hes starting to get all precious about it and thats a PITA. the smeggin things foul and enormous now - hope its not too ingrained!

Aitch - new thread you think? for airy dismissivness etc... ive got some crap ideas if youve got some airiness to spare...

try verugel - you can buy it over the counter. It is a cream you put on then cover with a plaster. I tried that wartner crap and bazuka crap - useless! but now my cluster of verrucae has virtually gone with a couple of weeks of careful filing ( nice) and verugel. Good luck!

TranquilaManana · 16/07/2007 14:09

there is no way he will ever let me file the thing. and even if i get him to let me do it once, theres absolutely no way hed let me do it again. and again.

nope, its the instant fixes we need in this case.

he wouldnt even sit still to let me take the plaster off it this morning. did that 'ow ow, dont touch it it hurts!!!' routine.

cant see him allowing me anywhere near it with a file. but i guess you dont know till you try...he might surprise me.

(yr ds's didnt hurt at all?? is it odd that my ds's one does do you think??)

Orrible, I'd had one for 20 years too. There's a Dr Khan at the London Homeopathic Hospital, which is attached to UCH, who specialises in hard-to-shift verrucas, you can Google him. You need a GP referral. Unfortunately I couldn't get it on the NHS but as mine hurt when I walked or drove it was money well spent.
FWIW went to GP this afternoon with DS1's verrucas. He says persist with Bazuka for up to 3 months before admitting defeat. We'll see...

TwoToTango · 16/07/2007 18:26

Been reading this thread with interest. My DS has got a verruca and have started filing and Bazuka this week. He is fine with the filing but annoyed because he can't go swimming - what do you do if you have a verruca for years if you want to go swimming - is it OK to cover it with a plaster?

Enid · 16/07/2007 18:27

I put tea tree oil on it with a plaster over for 10 days

it fell off

Thanks OrribleTrotters. The Doc said not to go swimming but what you say makes sense.

WilkiesWizardWheezes · 16/07/2007 20:57

Bazuka - was awful, had a reaction to it and it made by toe bright red and incredibly itchy

Scholl freeze stuff - bought off ebay (saved £6) and worked a treat. Doesn't hurt too much, just stings a bit. Just about rid of it now but had to do 2 applications as it has been there for 4 years

Orrible - I did, I tried putting vaseline around the area too to stop any spread but alas it didn't work. GP thinks I just had a reaction. There was some other painty on stuff I tried that had exactly the same effect.

I'm obviously a delicate little soul

TranquilaManana · 17/07/2007 08:30

twototango - you can buy a plastic sock thing to wear swimming to save others from infection. get them from the chemist i think. i had one when i was little and had a verruca.

hmmmm... am interested in the UCH recommendation... thank you

TwoToTango · 17/07/2007 14:57
