What is at the back of my throat?! (Pic attached)

Any ideas what this could be at the back of my throat? It's not causing me pain, but I've had a night time cough for a while, I sometimes feel like there is something in my throat, I've been getting a really dry throat that then seems to go into a spasm? Where I feel like I'm choking, my eyes water, I can't speak & I need to drink fluid. I don't have tonsils, they were removed as a child. I have mentioned to the GP & did ask if may be a tonsil had grown back but he just laughed at me! Also, I've had a couple of tonsil stones (yuk) and they been on this side.

Any suggestions greatly received please

Have you just registered? New users can't post pictures for some number of days, can't remember how many. You could upload it to a picture sharing website and post a link.

Dancingfairydreams · 01/03/2019 06:55

No, think it was just my phone playing up! Seems to have worked now 🤞

Has the doctor seen your throat?

CheeseRolls · 01/03/2019 12:55

I'd get that looked tbh.

CheeseRolls · 01/03/2019 12:56

Looked at

banskuwansku · 01/03/2019 12:57

Let a dentist have a look.

gamerchick · 01/03/2019 14:09

I think I would visit the dentist first OP.

CrazyCatMamma · 01/03/2019 14:13

Has the doctor actually seen this? Please go and have it looked at ASAP!

LizB62A · 01/03/2019 14:43

Tonsils can grow back - not necessarily tonsil-shaped, but it's definitely tonsil-tissue.

I had mine out when I was 28 and then again when I was 44.
They checked what they'd removed and confirmed that it was tonsil regrowth.

Ellapaella · 01/03/2019 15:43

Agree you should go get that looked at either by a doctor or dentist.

Dancingfairydreams · 01/03/2019 21:59

Thanks All. I did mention to the GP a few weeks back but that was whilst I had cold type symptoms, he just said it looked inflamed. Will book another apt as it is worrying me.

So, I saw the dentist today, I'm being referred to oral surgery & should be hopefully seen within a month. She wouldn't be drawn on what it was though. I've stopped googling now as have completely convinced myself it's the most sinister thing! 🙄

Glad you've been seen and are getting sorted op

Akbs5 · 16/10/2019 19:54

Any updates? I have the same symptoms and a spot in my throat that looks the same. I also had my tonsils removed as a child.

Laeeq · 27/10/2019 19:53

I have similar bumps. At the back of my throat on one side. I get dry throats in the morning. Went to see my doctor and he laughed at me and said either it is a tonsil (which I had removed when I was 5) or its tonsil regrowth. He explained that particles get left over from a tonsillectomy and sometimes grow back. Furthermore, a friend of mine also had tonsil regrowth

Kwsot803 · 27/11/2019 20:59

Hi, can you let me know what it actually was as I have something similar many thanks

DRWJ · 18/12/2019 01:36

Hello,

I have the exact same thing in my throat but don’t have an appointment until 1/20/2020 at the ENT. What did yours turn out to be? @

Naknik720 · 27/01/2020 05:49

Same issues, feels like something stuck. It’s really annoying. Tonsils removed when I was 5. Calling doc but I know will be awhile before I can get in. Googling is just making me paranoid any clue what this is? Well apparently I can’t post the picture. Guess I’ll try back later.

Mattymoondog · 12/04/2020 15:04

Hello, I have the exact same thing. I had a persistent dry throat and feeling of obstruction at the back of my throat. I had been finding it hard to get a GP appointment. So looked in my mouth with my camera phone torch and saw it and was very alarmed. I took a picture and what'sapped to my neighbour who is an ear nose and throat surgeon. He said that the tissue is regrown tonsil tissue and keep an eye on it for changes. So If you have this it's probably nothing but best to get it checked out. Smile

Sarbear29 · 04/08/2020 10:25

did anyone find out what it was? I actually just had my tonsils out less than a month ago and have tissue at the back on my throat, really irritating and feels like something stuck back there all the time. Surely tonsil couldn't have grown back so soon 😔
