Good evening lacies Glitterball and welcome to another thread. We filled the previous one rather quickly with dog stories Grin

Hello to any new posters. Feel free to join us if you've got any sort of cancer, or if you're waiting to find out if you have it. We are always happy to share our experience and hold hands, and even happier when we get to wave goodbye to people who have had the all clear :) (please do come back and let us know either way - sometimes people just disappear into the sunset, leaving us wondering whether they were OK or not!)

It's helpful if you can post a quick (re)introduction, even if you're a regular on the thread, to save people having to remember or to refer back to previous threads. There's no need to "catch up" - just join in whenever you want to.

Tx Purple and Noodles. My nurse rang me yesterday at 5.30pm to say the scan results weren't back so she's pushed me back until tomorrow. I'm thankful she rang but the DDs are coming home tomorrow pm/eve and I was going to bake and cook tomorrow am but I can't do that now. Not sure energy levels will be up to cooking in the afternoon...

I'll have some of your steak Purple!

HugAndRoll · 21/02/2019 11:12

Can I just say that you're all brilliant?! The likelihood is that after tomorrow I'll no longer have a 'need' to be on this board, but with your permission I'd like to nip in to see how you're all doing evey now and then.

I'm really dreading the amount of poop that's going to happen later today, but the end of the worry is in sight, and I'm more convinced than ever that it's going to be nothing.

Wombat22 · 21/02/2019 17:27

Hope it all goes well Hug Thanks

Caz What area of the country are you in? If you're near me I would gladly collect you and take you for your radio. You could have a treatment at Maggies and I'd pick you up when it suited you.

purple blimey you must be fed up with the infections. Hopefully you won't be in too long Thanks

Leslie I hope you are feeling more comfortable and managing to keep food down Thanks

TQ fingers crossed for tomorrow Thanks

I hope everyone else is getting all they need Thanks

HugAndRoll · 21/02/2019 18:32

I've taken my first dose of Plenvu. It was disgusting, and made me feel quite sick. I'm now waiting anxiously for it to kick in while sipping on some fizzy water.

How is everyone today?

Borntobeamum · 21/02/2019 18:33

Hope we can wave you on your way Hug. You'll be very welcome to pop in as long as you bring cookies! X

HugAndRoll · 21/02/2019 18:40

Always Born.
How are you doing at the moment? Have you spoken to your wider family about your diagnosis?

CazY777 · 21/02/2019 19:46

Hi everyone, hope you are all getting on OK as possible, its been quite spring like today hasn't it?
3rd rads session done today, with only a short panic, which was due to having to wait nearly 2 hours because they were running very late. Came home to a fairly tidy house, DH and DD had gone to the park so I got to sit outside with a cuppa for a while before they came back which was good.

I was wondering how you are getting on noodles, you're past half way now aren't you? I do get emotional too. Someone rang the bell for the end of their treatment today while I was waiting for my appointment, and that made me emotional.

wombat thanks for the offer, I'm in the north east so probably miles away from you.

TQ good luck for your results tomorrow, and hope it goes OK for you Hug.

Waves to Leslie and purple and everyone else I've missed.

purpleunicorns · 21/02/2019 20:19

I have plenty of steak to go round TQ Grin

Hug we will be glad to see the back of you in the nicest possible way of course, please do pop back now and then to let us know how you're doing Thanks

Glad it's getting a bit easier each time Caz, I didn't realise you were from the North East too. I thought I was up here all by myself

Doctors rang me back to say they'd accidentally given me my last results and not the most recent ones that aren't back yet so I have to ring back in the morning to see if I need to go through to hospital Hmm

Borntobeamum · 21/02/2019 20:45

Hug all my family know. Ow. My parents took it amazingly well. In Fact, it felt a little bit of an anti climax!!
I've had some lovely flowers. Cards and messages from so many people, and had lots of positive stories regarding colon cancer.
Thank you for asking x x

HugAndRoll · 21/02/2019 21:31

I'm glad they know and that it went better than you expected. Flowers

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 21/02/2019 21:40

Good luck Hug Flowers

Borntobe I'm glad it went well with your parents :)

purple argh! Angry fingers crossed for the new results in the morning.

Caz yay for a tidy house, and a bit of peace and quiet Brew

TQ good you didn't have a wasted journey, but annoying that it will interfere with your plans. The medical stuff just seems to take over every aspect of normal life! I hope you still have a lovely time with your daughters.

Toofarout I hope you got on alright today.

KeepCalm did you enjoy it? I found it so infuriating, but also fascinating. I suppose we all think we wouldn't be that gullible, but in reality we probably would! Sorry about the vivid dreams. Are you on morphine or anything like that? I have very vivid dreams now, and sometimes struggle to remember if something really happened or was just a dream. I often waking up nodding or reaching out to take something in my dream, and very occasionally say things aloud Confused I have to admit I rather like waffles, beans and cheese myself Blush

noodles you're over halfway there now Star I hope you enjoy the cookbook if you decide to buy it. I'm not on commission, I promise Grin it's a shame your children don't like risotto. Cheese risotto is the perfect comfort food.

wombat fear not, I am still eating well Grin just teeny, tiny portions. I woke my mum up in middle of the night a few days ago to make me a cheese sandwich! Blush

I hope everyone has had a relaxing evening. I've been sleeping lots today, now knitting and watching Grantchester. It's pretty dire. Each series is worse than the one before.

OP posts:
Toofaroutallmylife · 21/02/2019 23:17

Leslie! You can’t be rude about Granchester! It’s like Death in Paradise- it’s supposed to be “comfort telly”, not actually any good (I love both in a completely uncritical fashion)

purple how annoying! Hope you get a clearer idea of what’s going on soon

caz a cuppa outside sounds bliss

hug hope all the prooping isn’t too bad and you get some sleep

The scar / graft seems to be healing ok but there were some bits the surgeon used silver nitrate on - luckily I only googled it afterwards. I’m not sure having that dabbed on my fanny is my idea of fun. Bizarrely she’s now prescribed something called medihoney to use on the wound - I bet that’s not as much fun as it sounds either

HugAndRoll · 22/02/2019 06:26

I did manage to get decent sleep, thank you. Up for prooping round two now. This has kicked in faster than round one, but I guess there's less work for it to do.

HugAndRoll · 22/02/2019 07:27

This lot has made me feel really unwell. Hats off to those who have to do this and more on a regular basis.

Namechangeforthiscancershit · 22/02/2019 08:10

Actually hugandroll despite having stage 4 bowel cancer I’ve only had to have 2 colonoscopies, I avoid them like the plague! The prep is pretty rough. You’re doing brilliantly. Nearly there...

Namechangeforthiscancershit · 22/02/2019 08:11

Sorry to be clear it’s the prep I hate! The actual procedure is loads, loads easier than this bit!

KeepCalm · 22/02/2019 08:58

leslie I just can't quite help feeling annoyed with it. She was just so insipid and 'meh'. Anyway, series finished and agree with you about Grantchester, it's lost its edge for me since the gorgeous one left for Africa 🤣 Will need a new something to watch, any more suggestions?

Am in a heap on the couch under two puppies and my aunts are still here so shamefully not doing well replying but still reading!

@HugAndRoll you're doing great and we're all sending positive thoughts to any tender areas in a non perverted way GrinThanks

KeepCalm · 22/02/2019 09:00

Well done on the rads @CazY777 am very proud of you and selfishly watching your updates as I start on thurs!

@purpleunicorns am NE too but probably a little further N Grin

CazY777 · 22/02/2019 09:16

Thanks KeepCalm, how far north are you? I'm in County Durham, going to the Freeman in Newcastle everyday. Purple which hospital do you go to?

CazY777 · 22/02/2019 09:29

I've just googled silver nitrate toofar, and yes it doesn't sound like fun, but the medihoney sounds like it has soothing properties so that could help.

KeepCalm · 22/02/2019 09:41

@CazY777 you need to cross a border and keep going north Wink

CazY777 · 22/02/2019 09:44

Oh, ok proper north then! 😀

ggirl · 22/02/2019 10:31

Hi everyone , juts popping in to say hello , I found this thread so comforting when I went through the anxieties of a tumour on my caecum last year. Thankfully after a hemicolectomy it was found to be precancerous so I am very lucky indeed.
Still ..a year later ,having regular explosions out the back end though..think I have figured out to avoid fibrous things like granary bread as I might as well just bypass my innards and chuck it in the loo Grin

I'm so glad this thread is still giving everyone such support , well done Leslie you are truly amazing and such an inspiration.

Hope you all have a relaxing weekend , looks like the weather will be nice despite the fog I'm looking at out my window right now.

purpleunicorns · 22/02/2019 11:23

Caz I'm County Durham too, I either go to North Tees or James Cook depending on what's wrong with me Grin if I can get on a trial it'll be in Newcastle

I've been awake most of the night in agony with my leg, just waiting for my Macmillan nurse to come round to see if he can do anything with my painkillers then I'm waiting for the doctor to ring back to see if I need to go to hospital for IV antibiotics for this infection. I'm sick of feeling poorly and being in pain Sad

KnickerBockerGlooooory · 22/02/2019 11:47

Too far and all the radio ladies I can confirm Medihoney is lovely and does a really good job - I got sachets given to me by the unit when my skin started to peel off under my boob. The hospital also gave me some very good stuff called Intrasite that I put on the very bad bits.
