Good evening lacies Glitterball and welcome to another thread. We filled the previous one rather quickly with dog stories Grin

Hello to any new posters. Feel free to join us if you've got any sort of cancer, or if you're waiting to find out if you have it. We are always happy to share our experience and hold hands, and even happier when we get to wave goodbye to people who have had the all clear :) (please do come back and let us know either way - sometimes people just disappear into the sunset, leaving us wondering whether they were OK or not!)

It's helpful if you can post a quick (re)introduction, even if you're a regular on the thread, to save people having to remember or to refer back to previous threads. There's no need to "catch up" - just join in whenever you want to.

So cute though..

KeepCalm · 15/02/2019 19:55

Hey @LondonHuffyPuffy sorry for your wait. I made the mistake of planning things round my chemo too hope you're feeling better this week

@likeazebra she's a beaut Grin

Borntobeamum · 15/02/2019 20:01

Purple Thank you for remembering 💕
Yes. She called to say the Thoracic CT scan was all clear so carry on with plan A.
The relief was enormous. You don't realise how stressful this journey is until you undertake the first few steps.

purpleunicorns · 15/02/2019 20:14

Oh that's fantastic news, I was wondering if you'd heard from them. What a relief! Thanks

Namechangeforthiscancershit · 15/02/2019 20:20

born that is so brilliant! So happy for you

likeazebra · 15/02/2019 20:20

Born great news.

Ha ha TQ she has been fed and was fed up of me trying to get a picture as wanted to play so they were all blurry!

likeazebra · 15/02/2019 20:22

Trying to get me to play! She's had a good play now and is flat out on the sofa with me.

LondonHuffyPuffy · 15/02/2019 21:24

Thanks, purple and KeepCalm I think they were just scratching their heads as they weren't (and still aren't) sure what was actually wrong with me. Am feeling better today. I ended up having a nice birthday and was spoilt by family and friends with tons of cards and pressies.

Borntobe that's great news. You must be so relieved.

zebra your pup is GORGEOUS! Such a cute face.

Leslie i also meant to say thanks for starting the thread. How are you doing? So glad you got to do a kitchen visit.

TheHorseYouRodeInOn · 15/02/2019 22:42

@purpleunicorns
Thank you for the welcome! I haven't told anyone about finding a new lump yet, then I found this thread and it makes me feel quite humble with my little worries compared to others 😐 like many of you I turn to my dogs for comfort, they always manage to make me laugh!
Here they are , Alfie, Suki and Poppy

Evening all, just popping in to give leslie a hug, I mainly lurk these days. I had stage 2, invasive lobular breast cancer dx in Feb 2016, lumpectomy, chemo, radiotherapy, counselling. I turned 50 last week (which seems ridiculous, how can I be that old?) 3 DC.
Last summer I had an oophorectomy to make sure my letrozole works...
I have the sense that the cancer is always just half a step behind me, hence why I am still here I suspect.
I hope everyone has a peaceful night. Flowers

Namechangeforthiscancershit · 15/02/2019 23:38

thehorse look at those faces! Love them!

LondonHuffyPuffy · 15/02/2019 23:46

Oooooh thehorse they are lovely! I really, really want a dachshund!

Simmi1 · 16/02/2019 06:37

Hello all, Simi here. I’m 43, married with two DDs aged 5 and 3. I was diagnosed with HER2 positive stage 3, grade 3 breast cancer last September. I’m currently having chemo before surgery and have done 8 out of 12 weekly taxols with herceptin and perjeta every 3 weeks. The chemo seems to be working as my 8cm tumour has shrunk right down and my inverted nipple has popped back out. I’m planning a mastectomy with immediate DIEP flap reconstruction. Hope you all have a lovely Saturday xx

KeepCalm · 16/02/2019 07:03

@Simmi1 morning! Glad to hear the chemo is doing what it needs to do Smile

@LondonHuffyPuffy THREE?!? Am so jealous, I only have two Grin

iVampire · 16/02/2019 07:21

Leslie I am ridiculously pleased that you went to the kitchen - I remember mentioning it a couple of weeks ago (weekend of the CRUK run) and so glad now.

My intro - I chose this user name because it’s all about the blood (waves to tahiti ) I have leukaemia (CML) and am stable on treatment (not chemo in the classic sense, but still a targeted cytotoxic drug).

I just made the ‘deadline’for levels of leukaemic cells falling to close to undetectable, even on the most sensitive of tests. My scanxiety will however resurface when my 3 monthly tests come round

That’s

iVampire · 16/02/2019 07:23

That’s what I hit ‘post’ too soon!

That’s when I tend to post more - as I try to forget about the leukaemia as much of the time as possible.

purpleunicorns · 16/02/2019 09:34

Horse they are adorable and look so well behaved 🐶 and your worries aren't little at all, we've all been there and after already having cancer it must be 10 times worse when you feel another lump

Lovely to hear from you Pepper and ivampire and glad your treatment has worked. I love it when people come back now and then to let us know how they are. I do start to worry if we don't hear from them. I'm far too over invested in this thread and the posters on it Blush

Simmi that's great about your tumour shrinking, how are you finding the chemo?

Simmi1 · 16/02/2019 09:57

Hello purple - hope you’re doing ok. I did AC chemo every 3 weeks for 3 months which I found ok as I was very tired for a few days but fine the rest of the time. The weekly taxol has been harder - I’m tired and achy most of the time. Thank you for asking. I’m loving the dog photos too. keepcalm your puppies are just adorable.

Happy birthday for Wednesday London. Great news born. Good luck Horse - hopefully you won’t need to be here long - your dogs are gorgeous too and I’m glad they’ve been making you laugh.

Thank you Leslie for starting the thread xx

Tahitiitsamagicalplace · 16/02/2019 10:29

Hi ivampire ! That's great news about the tests! Long may it continue!
Simmi great news about your tumor shrinking too!

I'm loving the doggy pics! Am hoping I can get day leave to go and see my wee pup today (been in hospital since Monday) as for some reason, they don't let dogs visit hospitals. Stupid rule if you ask me Grin

TwitterQueen1 · 16/02/2019 10:47

Great news iVampire and Simmi! It's good to hear some positive stuff. I have scans coming up next week and I'm suffering scanxiety...

Tahiti are you in isolation again? I hope it's not too dull - time must drag a bit?

Horse sorry you find yourself here. You've definitely upped the dog stakes Wink

Purple are you persevering with the gravity blanket? How are you finding it now? I hope you're feeling stronger too..

purpleunicorns · 16/02/2019 11:19

I'm getting used to the blanket, they do recommend using it for an hour or so a day and building up to all night. It really is comforting and worth the money. I haven't used it all night yet but I may try it tonight

I think I'm feeling better, I'm taking iron tablets and eating loads of steak. I don't go anywhere to spend any money now so I'm spending it on food Grin

I'm actually getting dressed soon and going to see DHs 91 year old gran, no doubt she'll start crying over me wishing there was something she can do bless her. I hate people getting upset over me as then I start getting upset because they're upset Confused

Then as long as I'm still feeling up to it I'm going out for lunch. Then back home, PJs on, rubbish tv and crochet

I'm keeping everything crossed for your scan, hopefully you won't need to wait long for results.
I have one on Tuesday for my pelvis and leg as they don't think it's sciatica that I have as the nerve painkillers don't seem to make any difference to it

Simmi I found the taxol tough too, I seemed to end up in hospital with something or other after every round

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 16/02/2019 15:30

Wonderful news Simmi and iVampire and Borntobe :)

Belated birthday wishes to pepper Cake

Tahiti sorry you're stuck in hospital Flowers

TheHorse I understand not wanting to tell anyone, but you'll only be worrying about it until you've had it checked so you might as well do that sooner than later Flowers

London sorry to hear about your hospital adventures. I hope they find out what it was soon Flowers and good luck for Monday's chemo.

purple I'm glad you like the blanket :)

I'm waving to everyone. I hope you all slept well. I am sleeping more and more. I do try and keep up but I'm not always able to anymore. But I am thinking of you all even if I don't post Glitterball

OP posts:
purpleunicorns · 16/02/2019 16:25

Leslie please don't worry about keeping up, we all know how much time and effort you've put into these threads. Just post when you feel up to it to let us know how you're doing Thanks

I'm glad your sisters still there, it must be lovely having your family around looking after you. Your bunny biscuits looked fab 🐰

Tahitiitsamagicalplace · 16/02/2019 16:58

Leslie don't ask about us, we just wanna know how you are! Don't worry about name checking, ya hear?! I've no idea how you keep up anyway. I'm absolutely dire, especially since chemo brain has well and truly set in. Dh laughs at me talking myself around in knots trying to figure out what I think I'm talking about! Grin
Lots and lots of love to you lovely.

TQ not in insolation at the moment, I actually have some day leave today, woohoo! I had a bad reaction to a drug we think. Or an infection (but if it was an infection, they don't know where it was coming from). I'm in until Wednesday anyway. My doc is skittish. Every time he gives me a bit more of a longer leash from the hospital, I throw him a curve ball he doesn't expect. It's not on purpose! Grin

Fluffysunshinepants · 16/02/2019 17:42

Waves to all, still in blasted chemo fog and can't remember anyones names or concentrate enough to flick back and forth to complete a detailed post, sorry!

But i hope everyone is as well as can be expected xx
