Homeopathic treatment for Urticaria

I have this mildly, have been on antibiotics for about a year and suspect that this is the cause.

I just wondered if anyone knew a good homeopathic treatment for this?

It's a placebo effect....if you see any improvement. there's nothing more to it than that I'm afraid.....there are cranks in all professions including my own.

TooTicky · 21/06/2007 23:57

Yes, but it works, DC. And that's what winds you up more than anything, isn't it? Placebo my arse! And homoeopathy is very scientific - more scientific than allopathy if you actually look into it.

mozhe · 22/06/2007 00:10

How's that ??

CountessDracula · 22/06/2007 08:53

My sister is a homeopath and sad as I am to admit it nothing homeopathic has ever helped me much as I wished it would.

CoteDAzur · 22/06/2007 18:59

CountessDracula - I had severe urticaria as an allergic reaction to antibiotics after two weeks. Cut antibiotics, hospitalized, IV antihistamines and it was gone in two days.

Sorry I don't know enough about Crohn's to know if you have to stay on antibiotics, but if should at least be possible to change the antibiotics you are taking. That one group of antibiotics was the only one that gave me urticaria, and I have taken many others.

On homeopathy - It's great if it works for you, which is also what I say to friends who believe prayers work. But DominiConnor is right in saying that in that granule you take, there is not a single molecule of the active substance written on the bottle.

Not only has homeopathy never been proven to work, there is a $1 million award outstanding to anyone who proves it is effective. Read here BBC's test where they tried to get the award and failed - homeopathy was again shown to be ineffective in their scientific tests.

well next time my one year old is constipated i might just get sign her up for this experiment and get $1m when she does a mega shit.

she can go for 10 days sometimes, with the homeopathic remedy it always works within 24 hours, even if it is only 2-3 days since she went last time.

CoteDAzur · 23/06/2007 10:16

When DD is constipated, I give her a couple of sun-dried apricots. It works in minutes. And they have no additives. You might like to try it as well for your DD when she is next constipated.

amidaiwish · 23/06/2007 10:55

her constipation is behavioural not diet related. Therefore nothing i "feed" her really works quickly. i tend to give all my friends' children diarrhoea with all the vegetables/fruit i dish up and DD2 eats well.

She has seen specialists in hospital about it and it has arisen from a fissure she had last year after dairy problems/goats milk trial resulting in putty-poo. The fissure made it so painful for her to poo she now refuses unless completely relaxed/desperate.

it is getting better, but homeopathy is the ONLY thing which i can rely on to be effective.

CoteDAzur · 23/06/2007 19:06

Yet you say homeopathic granules solve her constipation? Clearly her constipation, even if psychological in origin, can be alleviated by food that favors quick transit.

Unless, of course, her constipation is psychological, and so is its cure (she picks up on your enthusiasm?), which is why the homeopathy stuff appears to work

amidaiwish · 24/06/2007 18:55

i am not going to bother.
