Do I achieve anything by complaining?

Just had a first gynaecology screening today and I’m lost.

It’s NHS, I had to walk out, but didn’t listen to my intuition.

She was incompetent, rude, inconsiderate, inexperienced doctor, who thought by smiling she would cover her fear of not knowing what she was doing... I had no idea what will happen as I thought I’m just having usual ultrasound and not a gynaecological one.

Thinking of complaining but will I achieve anything?

I hope I won’t be infected by her trial check up and using me as an experience...

Presumably you removed your underwear for the internal. Did you not question what was happening at that point?

AnneLovesGilbert · 21/10/2018 19:38

Were they able to see anything on the scan that would explain your pain OP?

What are the next steps for you now? Are you still in pain?

Bombardier25966 · 21/10/2018 19:39

You don't have to answer this, but are you a survivor of sexual abuse? That might explain your confused feelings, and help others to offer support.

SoyDora · 21/10/2018 19:40

I’m confused as to how they did an internal without your knowledge/consent, as I presume you had underwear on for an abdominal scan?
Would you be able to type out clearly what happened? You may have grounds for complaint but it’s really hard to tell from the information provided.

Inexperiencedchick · 21/10/2018 19:40

No, she handed me a letter saying all clear. Even mentioned about urine test which she hasn’t done. Lie on paper, black and white. I had a very nice experience yesterday at A&E, and that’s how I have been referred here for today morning.
I know the positive sides, but never experienced someone so rude. I’m not saying it lightly..

If you genuinely feel that she did wrong then I suggest you talk to PALs about it and let them investigate. You’re going to have to be very clear about your points and what happened.

PlateOfBiscuits · 21/10/2018 19:48

Are you still in pain love?

Wolfiefan · 21/10/2018 19:53

Your posts aren’t coherent. Not sure you understood the person doing the scan. She mentioned a urine test? They can mention tests and not have to do them.
You’re still not saying how she was rude.

You are asking if you should complain. You haven't explained the situation. If you do so we may be able to advise.

SinkGirl · 21/10/2018 22:12

You don’t have to remove your underwear for an internal scan, they can just be moved to the side, but they should always tell you what they’re going to do and get consent - in my experience, they usually ask you to insert the wand yourself as this tends to cause less pain.

It’s also not wrong that she didn’t let you look at the screen - they often don’t.

I’m feeling better Plate, thank you for the support 💐
