5 days of non stop headaches

So came on holiday five days ago. Soon as I got here. Agonising headaches begin. Nothing has relieved it yet. I’ve tried ibuprofen ,paracetamol, herbal stuff , antihistamines. I feel like crying. My head feels heavy and I keep wanting to sleep constantly. Really weak too like I have wobbly legs. I have pain when I touch my scalp and just so much pressure I feel like my head will burst open. I’m going back home tomorrow but it’s a long drive ( 9 hours ). Any other advice on what I could try?
I have been to pharmacy but they were no help. Only suggested ibuprofen.

Oh sorry. I should have mentioned I’m not driving. My dh is. But it still feels like a mission. I can’t keep my head up more then 5 minuets. Also have 3 dc with us. . I’m already freaking out.

I'm a chronic headacher. My neurologist told me this to identify when to seek urgent help::

Did the headache "strike", was it a sudden blinding onset?

Are your eyes red and watery?

Any numbness?

Is your speech slurred?

Is your vision compromised?

I went to the doctors yesterday for exactly the same thing. It's scary as well as bloody painful. I thought my head was going to explode with the pressure.
I've got to have my bloods done on Tuesday, but he gave me some anti inflammatory pills to take, as he thinks it's stress related.
I've taken 3 so far. One last night and two today (two a day)
They have worked wonders so far! They are called Naproxen 500g

Oh wow. Can I buy them otc? Ibuprofen isn’t touching it. It is very scary.

Does it go and come back or is it constant?

Do you wake up with it? Namely does it wake you up, or you wake up and then it starts?

Could it be a migraine?

I'm not sure if you can get them over the counter. But try and get to a chemist and speak to someone there.
Hopefully they can give you something like what I have. And will ease the pain until you get to your doctor back home x

It’s there constantly. I definitely wake up with it. I’ve never had a migraine so not sure. I was thinking about caffeine withdrawal too. I have lots at home. Non since I got here . I’m literally banging my head on the walls. Kids think I’ve gone mad.

Caffeine withdrawal I think. BUT though you'll be tempted to get back to it, it'll only offer a quick fix and you'll be stuck in the cycle of

Withdrawal - take caffeine - cause headache - withdrawal - caffeine - headache.

I know it's torturous but itll stop when your body's adapted.

(Disclaimer: 6months no caffeine for me as it was a trigger).

You need to get medical advice.Non stop headache for 5 days,severe pain,sleepiness - none of that sounds like regular but annoying headache,and it's not the same situation as someone with chronic headache.
I'm not a doctor but this sounds as if you need to speak to one,not just to randoms on the Internet,however inconvenient it is to do that it'll be more inconvenient if you leave something that needs treatment.

That’s really interesting. I had no idea withdrawals would be so bad. I’ll see if I can get CO codamol tomorrow and ride this out till I get home. What a horrible feeling though.

That sounds very much like caffeine withdrawal. They are nasty. If you usually drink lots and dont get headaches, then come away, have no caffeine and immediately get a prolonged headache that wont go, yes. Caffeine withdrawal headaches are persistent and dont really go with painkillers. As well as all the fatigue, wobbly legs etc. Its a very addictive substance. I would have a small coffee. Whwn you get back, give up gradually if thats what you want to do.

I just nipped out a bought coffee and had a small cup. I just couldn’t take it anymore. Tbh. It’s not totally gone but I swear it’s sort of eased up a tiny bit. I’m a huge coffee drinker ( several a day and they’re espressos ). I knew not having any this week may effect me. But had no idea I could get like this.
I need to give this shit up.

Yep, brutal. I gave up recently in 3 days with no headaches. Day 1: one cup, day 2: half a cup, day 3: half or quarter.
Have fallen off the coffee wagon but will try again soon.

OP not to worry you further but don't take it lightly. Had a similar onset of headaches that wouldn't subside. Turns out I had a sub dural haemorrhage.

Bleeding in the brain. Don't be alarmed but it is a possibility.
