How many times would you say you fill yours during the course of a period?

I think Franny said it was about three times for a whole period, but let's just say I'm ahead of that on day two alone... and [ow]

I'm thinking of getting a ticker... [wry grin]

Sorry abracadabra, I don't know...worth doing a search I would think, on washable pads?

FrannyandZooey · 28/05/2007 17:26

Glad to hear it is going well alfiesmum

lljkk · 28/05/2007 18:12

2x/day for first 2 days, and then just 2x more before all finished.

I hesitated to buy one for years on basis it doens't save me that much money.

NineUnlikelyTales · 28/05/2007 19:34

Thanks Franny. I might get one in anticipation then (though keeping fingers crossed that it doesn't hurry the dreaded event along)

bristols · 28/05/2007 20:01

Thanks Franny.

I got mine from Bodykind. Can recommend them for service. Excellent. And bargain prices too!

NannyL · 28/05/2007 21:58

bristols you can practise at any time, not just while on your period.

Just b sure to sterlise it before and afterwards!

bozza · 28/05/2007 22:09

Mine would sometimes fill up in 1/2 hour when I have my dodgy implant in (and was also bleeding 3 out fo 4 weeks, but not all so heavily). Now on the pill (which lightens my periods significantly) on the first couple of days it will fill up every couple of hours, and in bed I need to wear a towel as well to be safe. I read all that 30 ml and 80 ml stuff as well. At it's worst with the implant it leaked (as in full and overflowing) in 15 mins.

nally · 28/05/2007 22:15

i actually find my mooncup pretty fantastic for the first 2 days, when my period is heavy. it fills up about 2.5 times on each of those days and isn't noticeable. in fact i have wondered if it is in there, as have not been able to feel a thing! then my period suddenly gets very light and my mooncup turns into scary, scratchy, hurtful bastard!! haven't figured out why, but have changed to skinny tampon for the last couple of days as am sure my mooncup is out to get me!!

hunkermunker · 29/05/2007 00:48

Bozza, that's sounding familiar

Am on day three and still filling the thing regularly. Probably four times today, maybe five?

HOW am I not anaemic?!

OP posts:
bozza · 29/05/2007 14:30

I think mine settles down to every 4 hours or so by day 3 which is much better. It is definitely much more manageable with being on the pill. And I can also do the two packs together thing, so never have to have it on holiday which is a massive plus. I jsut hope DD has a more average flow.

FrannyandZooey · 29/05/2007 14:34

Hunker how has it been this month? Any improvement at all or still grim as grim?

hunkermunker · 29/05/2007 14:39

It's one reason I'm glad I have boys - the hereditary thing.

I used to run two packs of pill together, but started getting leg cramps and blinding headaches, so I figured Not The Best Plan to continue with that!

I tried provera and it had horrible effects on my state of mind, so can't do that either.

I think I just have to have my babies, then have a hysterectomy

OP posts:
hunkermunker · 29/05/2007 14:44

Heavier than it's been since I've had the boys and more painful

I've applied to do a Chinese medicine study - hopefully it'll bring a bit of relief.

Thank you for asking, Franny.

FrannyandZooey · 29/05/2007 14:45

Very sorry to hear that

was I right in thinking that Aitch thought it might improve long term by using the Mooncup?

hunkermunker · 29/05/2007 15:05

I think Aitch's theory is fairly sound in that I think you're healthier not using tampons because they do dry you out and change the "environment" of ones vestibule.

But I don't know whether I'll ever get the "healthier" loss she describes - mine's...well, horror-movie-esque

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 29/05/2007 15:27

Oh hunker

Legacy · 29/05/2007 15:30

Hunker - have you tried tranexamic (?-sp) acid tablets - they helped me loads with heavy flow on Day 1

TyrannosaurusRex · 29/05/2007 15:34

chinese meds really helped my periods, i think, but that was after i'd had my first ectopic and before the second and then dd, so who knows how long the effect lasted? but i know for a fact that the gorier elements changed.

then after dd they were back again but the mooncup (or just the time, who knows?) stabilised things again.

i also like doing the kegels thing in the shower cos that's when a lot of my clots come out, i find. i have even been known to feel my cervix while bearing down to, urm, pull them out a bit, because for me so much of the pain of my period came from my cervix being irritated by clots as they came out slowly... [gross beyond belief emoticon]

don't give up hope, hunks, things might improve a bit. [weak smile]

TyrannosaurusRex · 29/05/2007 15:34

oh, am aitch.

FrannyandZooey · 29/05/2007 15:34

hunker someone was asking about adhesions earlier, I don't know if you saw the thread

TyrannosaurusRex · 29/05/2007 15:35

and i can't rememeber who it was who said they had 'clots like cherry tomatoes' on here once but i've certainly never eaten one since...

FrannyandZooey · 29/05/2007 15:35

oh jesus christ aitch

you poor soul

am totally squicked now btw

TyrannosaurusRex · 29/05/2007 15:38

oh no i'm fine, franny. i hardly have any pain at all. but the shooting pains at the tops of my legs were caused by the cervix being irritated i think. anyway they're much better if i kegels and use the mooncup. i should say that i also do it every time i go to the loo to change my mooncup (withouth the rummaging, of course) and i very often hear a 'sploosh' as bits and bobs come out. it's exciting stuff.

FrannyandZooey · 29/05/2007 15:42

oh, still no mucus

I am suffering from mucuslessness

FrannyandZooey · 29/05/2007 15:43

do you know Aitch, I think I know more about your cervix and vestibule than I do about my own?
