My chest started hurting yesterday for no reason, it feels like I have been winded, my neck aches too and I have a slight headache, should I be worried?

How old are you?Would you describe it as a stabbing, crushing or throbbing type of pain? Do you feel like it has radiated to your neck or arm? Are you short of breath?

burstingbug · 27/05/2007 08:58

My friend at work phoned nhs direct when his chest was hurting, they sent an ambulance round straight away and they monitored him inside for about half an hour. He was fine, told told to rest.

bouncy · 27/05/2007 08:58

call nhs direct 0845 4647 they better to advise you.

Could be something simple like a pulled chest muscle or something, but best to get it checked out.

I am 30, its like a crushing pain, not spread to my arm, but my neck aches a bit, its quite painful when moving around, especially bending, and painkillers have not helped.

I would ring NHS direct to be on the safe side

burstingbug · 27/05/2007 09:02

how important is your job? (not meaning that in a nasty sort of way)

tulip27 · 27/05/2007 09:03

I'm a cardiac nurse and I'm afraid your symptoms sound blike you need to go to hospital asap, it could be muscular but crushing pain that radiated could be somthing more serios. I don't want to scare you but please please dial 999 its better safe than sorry. NHS direct will call you an ambulance too.

noddyholder · 27/05/2007 09:05

Agree that you need to see a doctor.Work can wait

tulip27 · 27/05/2007 09:06

littlemissbossy · 27/05/2007 09:06

Yes you need to be seen please please dial 999. Ive seen people having heart attacks still moving around.

burstingbug · 27/05/2007 09:11

PLEASE call!

My friends pain wasn't crippling either - just there iyswim. He had the pain for several hours, the print out of his monitoring showed he'd suffered another panic attack that morning. Needed to rest and see his GP.

You've had this more than a few hours!!! CALL CALL CALL

tulip27 · 27/05/2007 09:14

They will want yo see you. If you are having an abnormal heart rhythm or heart attack and you don't get seen it could leave you more at risk of serious problems later. Trust me xx

totaleclipse · 27/05/2007 09:18

I will call out of hours GP, dh will laugh his socks off if I called an ambulance, he is always accusing me of being a drama queen
Thanks for the advice.

burstingbug · 27/05/2007 09:19

GP could take a while, nhs direct will get you checked out with para's within minutes

inamuckingfuddle · 27/05/2007 09:29

will DH laugh his socks off if you are seriously ill? am quite amazed that mumsnet should be first place you go to for advice when having chest pains - if you are worried then do something about it

potoroo · 27/05/2007 09:40

Call NHS direct if you are worried. They will send ambulance if you mention chest pains. They did for DH and I was failry sure it was just stress (it was). They will be there quickly and will monitor you for a little while.

If all is fine you can go to work.

Please call them. Please.

littlemissbossy · 27/05/2007 09:45

Don't want to worry you but my DH had chest pains, insisted it wasn't painful enough to be anything serious it was only indigestion - it wasn't - it was a bloody clot
If you call your GP they'll tell you to go to A&E

totaleclipse · 27/05/2007 09:51

OK, dont shoot me, but, I will get it checked out when I finish work at 6 pm, dh still asleep, he finished work at 4am this morning, me and kids all need a bath and get dressed, and I really need the money from work.

OP posts:
totaleclipse · 27/05/2007 09:52
