Thanks jimjams, we are in the West country and have a Steiner school in the next county from us, never heard of them and just had a peek on the website though.
It would be great to meet like minded people.

I'm west country as well mistressmary. There's a big steiner school at totnes. it's not as friendly (ime) as the greenwich one. And - probably because its bigger- is VERY full on about the Steiner philosophy (which has some great bits to it it has to be said). However last time I was there I sat in a room chatting to 5 random mums with kids at the school- none vaccinated- so you wouldn't get any tut tuts that's for sure.

Sorry, I've been offline for a few days and have only just now been able to 'check in'!
Thanks for the info Aloha. I thought there must be some research on this somewhere, especially since I've recently read about how thiomersal affected the IPV component when combined with dtaphib and that's the (supposed) reason as to why they removed it [thiomersal] from the new vax. However, if that one thing could affect IPV what other components could be knocking out other bits of the vax??

I just can't believe they have taken away the right to have jabs separately and over the time decided by the parents.. and the age change to DT.. and the fact that a women has to get the MMR if they aren't sure if their rubella inoc is still adequate is outrageous.

One other question for anyone who knows, I would like to ask my surgery if they will give Repevax (dTaP-IPV) to my 14mo ds rather than Pediacel (DTaP-Hib-IPV), however, the NHS website only refers to it as the preschool booster (which incidentally was the same for Infanrix). However, I can't find anything on Repevax on the web, nor the BNF website and so far have only found out that NZ use Infanrix-IPV as their preferred jab (not Repevax). I can't seem to find any links on the NHS site saying which vax will be used if there is a contraindication..

Is there anywhere else I can look to see how safe Repevax is and if it can be given as part of the primary vax? TIA

interesting article suedomin, but it doesn't really help make a decision...it make sit harder if anything....

suedonim · 26/08/2004 18:35

I don't think it was meant to be a decision making article; it's just a reflection of what every parent now has to face up to. Very difficult.
