I've already booked the GP appointment as I'm getting another issue checked out. I thought this was a pen mark but it's not. I was merely curious about it when I googled but noted skin melanoma is associated with black lines like these. I haven't hit it recently to cause trauma and it doesn't hurt.

Erm - anyone else had this?

Best of luck for tomorrow!! I have everything tightly crossed for you.

I was to wait 6 days for the histology report when I had a brain tumour removed and that was the longest wait of my life. I cannot imagine how hard 6 weeks of waiting has been.

I’m so glad you have such great support around you.

MsForestier · 23/08/2018 23:30

I remember you woah it was a long wait alright.

MsForestier · 23/08/2018 23:31

MsForestier · 24/08/2018 09:21

Good luck this morning.

Still waiting. Same terrible doctor I wrote about a few pages back is walking around again. Might have him. He just announced to his team by the nursing desk, in earshot of everyone in the waiting room “oh so Mr X has melanoma - shall we tell him?” And now the computer system is down and they don’t know where all the results are. Oh and forgot to add - he was half an hour late himself in getting to the hospital!

Just read through this thread - lots of luck for when you finally get seen.

ImmortalityMyDarlings · 24/08/2018 10:56

“Features favour a junctional melanocytic naevus but close clinicopathological correlation is advised”.

Luckily the doctor was amazing at explaining whatever the fuck that means...

I got a copy of the pathology report and I’m taking when I can to my biochemist friend whose mum is a doctor.

“A junctional melanocytic nevus is most likely an "atypical" or "dysplastic" nevus. These are not melanoma but do have some atypical cells or architecture. Depending on how atypical they are, extra margins are usually taken.” says google... because my doctor didn’t explain it.

I go back in 8 weeks for a monitoring visit and then back in 4 months.

What a PALAVER.

Anyway, DM and DP and I are having large Bloody Marys.

Awful that the doctor didn't explain it! Brilliant news that it's not melanoma. Enjoy those bloody Marys!

picklemepopcorn · 24/08/2018 11:40

Thank goodness for Vodka!

Bit of a nuisance to have to keep going back, but better safe than sorry!

Roomba · 24/08/2018 11:48

Just caught up with your thread as I remember reading your OP a long time ago but hadn't seen the updates.

Glad everything is healing well. It's incredible how fast everything heals, isn't it? My son fell and ripped his fingernail off last year (then had to go in and write for his final SATS test next day - ouch) and he was very surprised how quickly it stopped hurting after the initial injury - I think the exposed nerves must shrink back a bit or something? No idea! He had one nurse who was full of doom when she changed his dressings, she thought it was unlikely it would grow back but said 'It might', which upset him lots. As it was, within about eight weeks he pretty much had a full nail again. It is a tiny bit more ridged than his others, but you'd never suspect anything happened.

MsForestier · 24/08/2018 14:11

I hope you have a lovely chill out time today immortality what a palaver indeed. You poor soul. 👍glad it's good news.

< What a plonker of a doctor>

That’s enough biopsies and tears and cancer scares for one year, I reckon. MN has been a really wonderful resource - I’m v grateful to you all. Thank you Flowers
