Some of us have been here a while and others have only just joined. If you're lurking, feel free to say hello. We are quite friendly really.

You are welcome to join us, whatever sort of cancer you have, or if you're waiting for tests to find out whether you have cancer or not (we hope not!)

Our previous thread is here. Do check it out if you're new as there's lots of useful information in the first few posts.

Best wishes to everyone who finds themselves here Flowers

Sorry guys wrong thread 🙄 have reported my post

penguinsandpanda · 23/04/2018 02:01

😱 I wondered what you were on about Duckland when you said these posts are becoming more and more sinister and I can see it ending in violence Was it Leslie and the veggie burger or Tayto with the chicks. 😃

On the lucozade diet now, thankfully I love lucozade but don't think my teeth will, hopefully it won't end it lucozade fuelled violence.

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 23/04/2018 07:11

penguins enjoy your Lucozade!

Thankfully my veggie burger rage did not progress to violence and I managed to forget about it eventually.

Looks to be another beautiful morning here, but I know it's not going to be an easy week for many of you so I am sending love Flowers

purple and wombat good luck to you both today.

mrspotter good luck with your breast clinic appointment.

Duckland hopefully you might hear back about your blood results this week.

The testing is unrelenting, or at least that’s how it seems sometimes. Possibly never as bad as that first diagnostic rounds, but the uncertainty of hope/fear difficult every time

Good luck and much calmness for all those with important appointments this week,

It’s 3 months since my last major round of testing - about time for the next lot

Mrspotter12 · 23/04/2018 07:28

Thank you, it's been a roller coaster of emotions this last week to say the least!
I can't believe the tests are tomorrow....

penguinsandpanda · 23/04/2018 08:19

Arrgh my online antibiotics order has been turned down, they must have spies on me Grin Cost me £40 yesterday and several hours to get nowhere. Start the battle again today. Round one me vs GPs receptionist. I may just cry.

penguinsandpanda · 23/04/2018 08:24

I got through and I got a callback agreed. Now just round 2 vs doctor. I may try crying.

Mrspotter12 · 23/04/2018 08:34

I've always found crying to be an effective tactic!

penguinsandpanda · 23/04/2018 09:31

DH reckons I stand no chance but never underestimate the power of a hysterical woman. Grin Especially one on lucodaze.

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 23/04/2018 10:30

It dominates everything doesn't it iVampire. Good luck with the next round Flowers

penguins I'm not familiar with the online ordering thing - is it one of those virtual GP systems? I hope you manage to get something from the GP today. It's baffling that you've got all these nasty symptoms and nothing really being done!

Mrspotter I hope you have some nice distractions for today :) I know it's nerve-wracking, but the sooner you get the tests over with the sooner you'll have the results.

I went to the gym this morning. I only did 15 minutes, but that's my first trip in several months so I'm easing in gently.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a hayfever nasal spray?! I'm completely bunged up and snuffly. You'd hope chemo would dampen down the whole allergy/immune thing, but alas, no such luck Grin

OP posts:
penguinsandpanda · 23/04/2018 12:13

Well done for doing 15 mins at the gym Leslie

It was Push Doctor and then Lloyds online chemist, at least Lloyds refunded. Just had doctor on phone and she's agreed to do urine analysis if DH takes it over, and then give antibiotics if it is. So that's progress at least. Probably no point in starting antibiotics until colonoscopy med is over, she didn't think I'm well enough for it but I will have DH with me and I'm always ill and I think I will get charged if I cancel as its private.

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 23/04/2018 13:21

Yes I think I'd try and go for it anyway too. You'll be lying down for most of the time and it's not actually particularly strenuous. Really the fasting/preparation is probably the more physically demanding bit, so once you've got through that hopefully it'll be OK Flowers

Nothing is ever simple eh?

iVampire · 23/04/2018 13:36

I’ve just emailed my specialist nurse to ask about hay fever remedies, and am vaguely expecting the answer ‘no’ as I wasn’t allowed lemsip during the colds season.

I’ve used the Sterimar nasal spray, which is just saline so I guess that’ud be OK for all. Beconase has an active ingredient - it’s better from the hay fever pov (I used it last year before diagnosis).

The Optrex eye spray is good if you get gritty eyes too. I thought it couldn’t possibly work, but it does (3x the price of the drops, though)

Mrspotter12 · 23/04/2018 14:13

Just told my mum about the tests tomorrow. I wanted to wait but just couldn't. But she did give me a quick family history of breast cancer - nothing in her side and three ladies on my dads side.

Having a weird day today, had a proper talk with DH as we have been biting at each other all weekend, do that was good as well, but after the talk I just wanted to cry!
So am sitting at home now binge watching outlander!

penguinsandpanda · 23/04/2018 14:25

Just had my pre assessment and the lady said to go in. Getting a bit bored of lucozade now

I think its normal to be up and down going through testing MrsP and watching TV etc is one of the best distractions. My DH is quite good on the whole since he's stopped with his why don't you do more exercise that will cure everything line Grin though my DD gets really cross at times as she's bored of me being ill. DS is really sweet though spent yesterday showing me lots of puppy pictures and in the cinema he insisted it was just me and him to watch Peter Rabbit. He pretended he didn't want to see it but was giggling and shouting genius pretty much the whole way through and quite a few people were watching him. He had a Peter Rabbit obsession for years but now he pretends he doesn't. It's not cool at 11.

purpleunicorns · 23/04/2018 14:34

I hope it all goes well penguins and you're able to eat soon Cake

penguinsandpanda · 23/04/2018 14:52

Thanks Purple about 30 hours to go to food. 3 large bottles of lucozade Grin

Hope your appointment goes well.

Mrspotter12 · 23/04/2018 15:20

Thanks penguins!thanks penguins xx

Mrspotter12 · 23/04/2018 15:21

Not sure what happened there ....,

purpleunicorns · 23/04/2018 17:14

Well no news from me. The hospital I had my scans at haven't sent the results over to my consultant so I have to wait another 2 weeks to find out

penguinsandpanda · 23/04/2018 17:23

That's frustrating Purple though hopefully it means the news isn't too bad, the bad news tends to come faster though sometimes they've just lost things. I would be phoning, I have no patience with waiting unless I am not worried.

I so want to eat now. I have to just think if I do I may see it back shortly after the meds then the urge goes away but maybe eating my duvet by tomorrow. Wink

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 23/04/2018 18:17

Oh purple Flowers how frustrating when you've been waiting so long! Sad do you think you'll be able to nag them to speed it up a bit?

penguins with fasting I've always found after the first say 6-8 hours I lose interest. By tomorrow you'll probably not feel hungry at all. Just have to power through this tricky bit! :) and have some substantial, but plain, snacks lined up for afterwards

Mrspotter I'm glad you could talk to your mum and husband. It often makes it easier to share the burden. Binge-watching seems like a good plan :)

iVampire thanks. I decided to just risk it... hopefully it won't kill me. I do have some of the Sterimar seawater stuff. But I was so bunged up I felt I needed something more hardcore. It seems to have done the job as my face doesn't feel like it's going to explode anymore :) I hope your nurse will let you have something too!

OP posts:
purpleunicorns · 23/04/2018 18:47

My consultant got on the phone to them, they said it could take 8 weeks to get my results back but she demanded them to get them done faster, so 2 weeks it is. She's also referred me for a lump in my breast but said she doesn't think it's anything to worry about, that's what they said before my referral for cervical cancer so I'm not taking her word for it.

I'm going to try and spend the next 2 weeks in ignorant bliss by pretending it's fine, and that if it is bad news I would have been told by now.

Good luck for tomorrow Mrspotter Thanks

Did you manage to tell the family over the weekend swaying? For me that was the hardest part of it, I hate the thought of people worrying about me

Well done on the gym Leslie, I keep threatening to start going again but never get round to it, it's only a 2 minute walk from my house so I've got no excuse not to go

penguinsandpanda · 23/04/2018 19:20

On the first litre of meds now, another litre at 6am, yum. Doesn't taste as bad as I feared though does seem like drinking acid so will see what effect it has. DD made it for me and was telling me how nice it smelt. Smile

I find its better to assume things are fine and normally the slower the news the more chance it is. Just watch lots of Netflix etc. I haven't done much proper exercise for ages but its good if you can manage it but I wouldn't worry if not.
