To visit the walk in centre?

The top of my bumcrack has a small white/flesh coloured spot on it and although it looks insignificant, it is stinging like mad and I can barely sit. AIBU to go to the walk in centre? I can't take a minute more of this and what's worse is that I am on my period :(

The rectum has quite delicate lining and is fairly easily irritated or broken.

Sienna333 · 22/12/2017 20:41

I have heard it shouldn't happen with IBS.
I work at a homeless shelter. I have friends and family I talk to. They all thought my symptoms were anxiety based until they knew of the blood, now they are worried which is in turn worrying me even though I am preparing myself for the worst.

Please keep an eye on that Dotty, I am concerned for you.

Youcanstayundermyumbrella Yes, I hope against hope it is an internal pile causing the blood as I had a weird, swelling, painful feeling in my bum a week or two ago. That worried me as I was out in town, needed to fart, felt something wet so checked in the toilet and it looked like poo. That was a few weeks ago when I didn't have stomach pain. This incontinence thing really worries me.

But it does happen with IBS. It happened to me. It's very common especially with a severe bout. But I see you have skipped over my post detailing the exact symptoms you are presenting so I'll bow out gracefully..

SealSong · 22/12/2017 20:47

MNHQ, this thread should be moved to mental health, not general health.

DownstairsMixUp · 22/12/2017 20:48

Why is mnhq allowing this thread to stand? This poster is clearly mentally unwell and is listening to nobody.

Sienna333 · 22/12/2017 20:49

Sorry Womble. I am reassured by your post. I am sure I will be referred which I am terrified about but I need to know what is going on now as scary as colonscopies and sigmoidscopies sound. I am terrified of how painful they are, heard some real horror stories.

Op a few people have told you that bleeding can occur with ibs. It happens to a family member of mine, the worst bout being when she found out her dh had been cheating - stress related.

gobbin · 22/12/2017 20:51

I will have to do so in the morning, I am terrified

Yes, get an appointment.
UC and Crohns are manageable diseases but only with treatment.
If you have IBD and are not treated, they will not get better on their own. The only way is downhill if untreated.

myrtleWilson · 22/12/2017 20:53

Sienna have you read any of the threads on here about colonoscopies? All the ones I've read have said yes it can be a bit uncomfortable but the worst part about the procedure is the prep - and most (if not all) I've read have said it wasn't as bad as they feared. I do wonder whether you actually selective google/read - if you google "colonoscopies bad experience" of course you'll get a skewed insight.

SunnySkiesSleepsintheMorning · 22/12/2017 20:53

Sorry I wasn’t clear, I meant do you have Support in general? Not just health stuff but you know, life worries..? Do you keep yourself busy and distracted away from thoughts?

Rockandrollwithit · 22/12/2017 20:53

I was suspected to have IBD about five years ago. I was very ill for months at a time over about a year (urgency, unable to keep anything down, blood and pain) and I had inflammation markers in my blood. I ended up having a colonoscopy and they didn't find anything, the doctor said I may have an unspecified type of IBD or severe IBS. I was on some medication for a while which did help but it was still horrid. Massive sympathy to everyone on the thread with UC or Crohns, I can't imagine how hard it is.

But then everything stopped as soon as it started. I haven't had a 'flare up' in over three years and just have mild IBS symptoms now.

The body is a mysterious thing, my digestive system was clearly unwell for a while but it didn't turn out to be anything serious, thankfully. I'll never know what caused it and it might be the same for you too.

DearMrDilkington · 22/12/2017 20:58

Op, are you making sure your drinking and eating properly at the moment? It's easy to miss meals and not drink enough fluids when your full of anxiety.

You really need to speak to someone about your HA. Stop saying you'll deal with it once you sort this issue out because you know you'll find another problem as soon as this one is fixed.

Sienna333 · 22/12/2017 21:08

I am terrified of being diagnosed with IBD but think it will happen. I know I got better after what I thought was my first stint of it but I still think that was my first flare up and this is my second bout of it.
Hopefully it is just a case of severe IBS. It is reassuring to hear some of you have had bleeding for no sinister reason.

Wishimaywishimight · 22/12/2017 21:09

This reminds me of (I think) Spike Milligan who said he wanted the words "I told you I was ill" engraved on his headstone...

Sienna333 · 22/12/2017 21:11

Are colonscopies painful at all? I am sure I will be sent for one.

I am trying to eat and drink properly but the food is just going through me and the water is making the acid worse. I am exhausted :(

I find it very hard to distract myself at the moment. Netflix is the only thing that helps.

OP posts:
scotchpie · 22/12/2017 21:12

Yes they hurt and the prep is horrible too.

Aridane · 22/12/2017 21:14

Oh,come on scotch pie, this isn’t helping

Sienna333 · 22/12/2017 21:16

Great, have all that to look forward to :(

OP posts:
Wishimaywishimight · 22/12/2017 21:16

My colonoscopy didn't hurt - I had sedation, slept through the whole thing and woke up back on the ward in time for tea and toast, the anticipation (& the prep drink of course) was worse than the actual procedure but overall I wouldn't worry at all if I had to get another.

Probably pointless to say it but stop worrying about things until you need to.

scotchpie · 22/12/2017 21:19

I'm not going to lie, it did hurt.

Fatso1978 · 22/12/2017 21:21

Millions of people have colonoscopies. The chances of anything truly sinister is very low.

"Terrified"? I think you seriously need mental health support more than anything else.

sahmummy80 · 22/12/2017 21:22

@Wishimaywishimight that quote is exactly what I was thinking off earlier after reading all this, was going to post but didn't. It was Spike Milligan.

Chienrouge · 22/12/2017 21:24

What have you got to lose in seeking help for your health anxiety? Even in the unlikely even it turns out you’ve got a serious illness, surely it will help you deal with it better if you’re not so anxious? Treating your anxiety doesn’t mean you can’t investigate physical issues at the same time.

Sienna333 · 22/12/2017 21:28

I really hope it is unlikely I have anything sinister. I don't have pain and if my first illness was UC related then surely it would be weird for me to recover for almost a month? Clutching at straws here I know.
