To visit the walk in centre?

The top of my bumcrack has a small white/flesh coloured spot on it and although it looks insignificant, it is stinging like mad and I can barely sit. AIBU to go to the walk in centre? I can't take a minute more of this and what's worse is that I am on my period :(

Have you had a feel of the area, can you feel a lump or anything like that? Do you feel well otherwise?
Instead of ringing round pharmacists surely it makes more sense to just go to the walk in centre and be assessed by the nurse. Or if you think it can wait until Monday book a GP appointment for then. People on here can't say for sure whether you need to go as we can't see it and many are not medically trained. You need to make the decision whether to go or not. Not trying to sound harsh, I know anxiety makes things difficult.

Pharmacist said she can look at skin conditions so will try that first, see what they say.

Yes YABU. You have a spot or a scratch or a cyst at the top of your bum crack. Anal cancer is a tumour IN your anus and you would have bleeding (from the anus) amongst other symptoms.

Sienna you have posted about your health anxieties before. It doesn’t sound like you’ve addressed this. With the best will in the world you’re not going to get any comfort from posting these things on MN. The best thing you can do is make a GP appointment to discuss how to move forward and if whatever it is that is causing you pain is still present, you can ask them about that at the same time.

Just looked in the mirror and arsecrack looks very red. A pharmacist can check and tell me if she thinks I need to get seen by the walk in centre so it will save me a journey if she just thinks it is just sore and a simple cream will sort it.

Have you spoken to your doctor about your anxiety? That seems to be the main issue here.
Anal cancer won’t present itself as a scratch nowhere near your anus, so try not to worry about that anyway. And no one will have any idea about your period by looking at the top of your bum.
No harm getting the pharmacist to look in case it is a cyst anyway but by what your sister described it doesn’t seem like it is one.

Good idea consulting pharmacist - hope you get some relief.

It sounds like an irritation. I get this if I get too hot, the top of my crack becomes red and sore, it can last a few days/weeks depending on the climate. Sudacreme or similar offers some relief. If there is a lump there it's likely to be a cyst or skin infection that may need to be lanced/antibiotics. I have had both and neither have involved any more diagnosis that a quick look and feel of the area. Didn't even take trousers/underwear off, just pulled down slightly.

Do not panic but do get it checked out in case it's infected. Wearing pads in heated houses is likely to cause sweating in that area which can irritate it more.

If you've recently used a salt scrub then I suspect you didn't rinse it off completely, hence the skin irritation. Wash and dry the area carefully and either apply a little Sudocrem or Savlon cream or a light dusting of unperfumed talc. It could also be from a sweat rash so same treatment.

I'm pretty sure you don't have anal cancer op. Keep the area clean and dry and it will heal quickly.

You need to get it examined by a medical professional who if you'll pardon the expression won't give a monkey's bum crack that you're menstruating. Nobody in healthcare will, or they wouldn't/shouldn't be in the job. And while you're there you also need to seek treatment for your anxiety, otherwise one day it might be the death of you. Really.

I second the mention of germaloids with the anesthetic - It's great stuff.

I even use it on occasion when plucking my eyebrows (which you totally shouldn't do but it does help hahaha!)

Report
lololove · 02/12/2017 11:41

(sorry should clarify - i meant use it on the area because of the anesthetic stuff - there's also other chemist buyable numbing creams that aren't so bum related - hope they'd help you!)

Got her to look and she said (Like my sister) that she couldn't see anything in terms of growths or cysts. I said I had a particular worry about the cyst but according to her I don't have one. She did say it looked red and inflammed but that's it. Gave me sudocream for it. Seems a bit extreme to have so much pain for just an inflammed bumcrack but sure she would be in big trouble if she said that there was definitely no cyst or growths when in fact there was. I was an idiot yesterday as I self diagnosed with piles and smothered myself in germolid cream. No wonder it stung like mad and didn't do any good.

Major panic attack as convinced I now have anal cancer or that i do have the beginning of a pilondial cyst but she just missed it. It stings so much and I read about people with anal cancer who have a lot of my symptoms as in finding it painful to sit down and a stinging sensation. I am booking in again for emergency doctors appointment for Monday due to anxiety but how I will keep strong until then I don't know.

I think you need to get your anxiety looked at, you do not have anal cancer.

juddyrockingcloggs · 02/12/2017 19:46

I had/have a pilonidal cyst (sp) - they f**king hurt! And I mean hurt! Mine wasn't even close to bad enough to operate - since Iv had it iv probably had 2 to 3 lots of antibiotics which have got rid and fingers crossed it's not flared up for a long time.

The main symptoms were
^Pain and I mean pain not just stinging
Red and hot to touch
^
If you're still worried about it in a day or so then go to your own GP.

I also have a morbid anxiety when it comes to my health and the worry it causes cannot be underestimated especially in a day and age where google diagnoses you in the click of a finger.

I spent two months of this year in tears and a literal panic because I had convinced myself I had ovarian cancer. You have my sympathy for that because it's really not nice.

What you've described really just sounds like simple sweat rash, to me! It's a really common place to get it. clean the area regularly, dry it properly and use sudocrem.

I'd definitely keep that doctors appointment- but to discuss your anxiety, not to get your crack checked!

You can't be sure I don't Honey :(

Judy, mine doesn't hurt to touch and is smooth, white and very small. Maybe the pain is coming from the fact it is right in the bum crack and I have a slight rash in the crack too. Just terrified

You must get this attended to, could be a pyonidial cyst, if it is, or will need attention, quite urgently.

Report
thonlassie · 02/12/2017 20:07

I would put money on it being a pilonidal sinus - they are incredibly painful considering the size but can usually be kept under control with an antibiotic- might also be worth buying some hibiscrub from the pharmacy as this seems to keep it at bay.

Sienna333 · 02/12/2017 20:09

It has been seen by the pharmacist. She said she is sure there isn't a cyst.

You can't be sure I don't Honey

Well I think to begin with you would have some symptoms around your actual anus for anal cancer, and not a bit or reddening all the way up the top of your bum crack (which is not your anus).

Report
TammySwansonTwo · 02/12/2017 21:06

Obviously I can't be sure you don't have cancer but the symptom you're having seems to be directly related to the skin and quite a distance from your anus so please try to put that out of your mind!

I have endometriosis and I've had to have several internals during periods. Doctors don't care at all. I also get severe skin abrasions from pads that cause so much stinging and pain so wondering if that's exacerbated things here.

Report
Xihha · 02/12/2017 21:07

Your sister can see a scratch, scratches on your bumcrack can sting like fuck, especially if you've got cream in it. It is probably sore because you keep touching it to check, have a bath with no strong perfumes in it, dry, put some sudocrem on and leave it alone for the night, it will probably feel a lot better in the morning.
