To visit the walk in centre?

The top of my bumcrack has a small white/flesh coloured spot on it and although it looks insignificant, it is stinging like mad and I can barely sit. AIBU to go to the walk in centre? I can't take a minute more of this and what's worse is that I am on my period :(

Well you could do something more. You could seek help for your severe health anxiety and then you would enjoy Christmas more.
Do you just like the drama?

Youcanstayundermyumbrella · 22/12/2017 20:06

You keep saying that anyone else who posted with your symptoms would be told they had an inflammatory disease but that's simply not true. You have an upset stomach which could be from anxiety, or could be from some other cause, but your symptoms are mild and don't immediately suggest a serious health condition.

I bleed from the bottom frequently because I have a chronic but not particularly annoying anal fissure. Any episode of loose bowels or constipation (and hormonal changes give me both at different points of the month) is likely to cause blood in my stools because it irritates the fissure. I occasionally get urgency if I've eaten too much rich food.

Post after post has suggested that your anxiety may well be causing your digestive issues. That is what is jumping out to posters with personal experience of both anxiety AND UC. Other posters have also been told in the past that anxiety can cause bowel upset. I've been on those threads. Many worried posters have been told that blood in stools has many relatively innocuous reasons and have returned to update to say it was indeed a fissure or internal pile or temporary inflammation.

I posted on your original thread to say that I'd had a similar long episode of diarrhoea and it had cleared up eventually, nothing serious. As did yours! Until you started winding yourself up into this state of anxiety over the past few days.

needtogiveitablow · 22/12/2017 20:08

Why “must” you have it at all?! Bloody hell, I get the shits when I’m nervous or anxious (I thought most people did). If I was nervous and anxious all the time I’d always be on the loo! If I was constantly shitting myself with nerves then I’d have a bad stomach, bad gas and probably bleeding as well because of the irritation! What you are describing is a fairly common reaction to anxiety! You seriously need to wait til your results come back before planning on seriously upsetting your child and family, although I suspect if these results come back clear something else will mysteriously develop that leads down another sinister looking path! I feel like an absolute dick getting so worked up but I and my family have been to hell and back as a result of someone not taking their mental health seriously and the thought that another child is going to get caught up in this is genuinely upsetting, please think about what you actually want and get the required treatment (I’ll give you a hint - it’s not your arse that needs looking at)Angry

The best way to help this OP is by not engaging with them here, I’m sad to say.

I've been in the loo for most of the day with bloody stools. I have stomach cramps and vomiting and took a funny turn. We had to cancel a family meal because of the car journey. Why am I telling you this - because not for one minute do I think this is serious. It has been caused by stress and will settle back down again. Will I allow it to affect my Christmas - hell no.

I’ve been reading this from the get go and I think you need some serious help tbh.

When I was 20/21 (I’m 47 now) I became very unwell, very suddenly. I thought I had a tummy bug right before Christmas but it didn’t clear up. My parents were on holiday and were shocked at the amount of weight I’d lost, in days when they got home.

I couldn’t eat anything for weeks. It went straight through me. I was in agony all the time. I was passing mucous and blood and was admitted to hospital because I was that ill. My weight went from 8st to 6 and a half in about 6 weeks.

I had a sigmoidoscopy, a laparoscopy, multiple stool samples and barium swallows. The more the doctors went on about what they thought it was the more anxious I became because I was waiting to start a 3 year nurse training course. I’ve never suffered with anxiety but the more I got worked up and the more my very anxious mother got worked up the worse my symptoms became.

Anyhow, after all the tests nothing came back and they diagnosed me with IBS. I still have it. I suspect it was triggered by a nasty bout of food poisoning, as it often is. I take medication and manage it with diet. I do have flare ups and get quite bad stomach pains, pass mucous and blood.

When I did my nursing my flatmate had UC. She was a million times worse than me, even when I was at my worse.

If I win the lottery tonight i’d bet it all that you don’t have IBD but I do think you will come back and tell us that you do regardless of what you get told.

TovaGoldCoin · 22/12/2017 20:20

Why is this still being allowed to carry on? This thread is really unhelpful

Sienna333 · 22/12/2017 20:20

I can assure you it isn't a wind up. I am just petrified of what is going on in my body and frustrated that Christmas has been ruined because I can't eat without rushing to the loo and having that uncomfortable, acid type feeling all day is going to be no fun at all. Was really looking forward to it this year and I am frustrated and fed up.
I haven't said anything to DD about what is going on although she knows something is going on as I keep rushing to the loo and can't eat the same food as her right now. I will do my best to make Christmas amazing for her but I am bloody fed up.

If it was Chrones you would be in severe pain.
I had exactly the same symptoms as you. It was IBS brought on by severe stress.
I had colonoscopy, blood and stool samples. My gut was inflamed but this was again stress related.
It flares up from time to time when I'm stressed. And yes I've shit myself on more than one occasion.
I have blood in my stools also but that's from massive piles after my second child.
Do you not think your GP would have been a lot more proactive if they thought it was something more serious?
Honestly, calm down, get your anxiety under control and I bet you a pound to a penny your symptoms will go.

Sienna333 · 22/12/2017 20:23

Dotty, doesn't it scare you that you have blood? Unless I am mistaken and you already have an inflammatory disease?

TheFairyCaravan, I so hope you are right and I don't have anything but I can't see it.

My DD has UC and associated arthritis plus an inherited condition that causes chronic pain. She is on fortnightly injections of a last resort immuno-suppressant drug along with an oral one. She is also the DM of a 2 year old (who is a happy little soul who has no clue that her Mum has a chronic condition). DD is a teacher too. She is a fabulous DM who puts her little girl at the top of her priority list.

When she first had UC and it was undiagnosed she was taken into hospital with suspected appendicitis. She was dreadfully underweight and looked like a famine victim the poor thing. Yes she gets tired and the drugs make her feel sick but she still has a fulfilling life. So even at the worst and you do have UC (although it doesn’t sound like it) it can be controlled and managed. I think health anxiety sounds worse I really do. Please promise yourself that if these tests come back clear you will get proper help for your anxiety. You don’t have to live like this and you and your DD deserve better.

Reporting the thread for a third time in the hope it gets moved.

DottyS · 22/12/2017 20:28

No - why should it?

Doingthebattybat · 22/12/2017 20:29

And truly the power the mind has over the body is absolutely incredible. It can convince you that you have the most dreadful illnesses and mimic the symptoms. Anxiety can cause truly amazing phenomena from numbness in the limbs, dreadful itchy rashes and cardiac symptoms. It can mimic blindness and stroke. Never, ever underestimate what the mind can convince the body of!

AllIWantForXmasIsLouMumsnet · 22/12/2017 20:32

OP, we think it might be best if we move your thread to General Health now so you can seek advice on there. Best of luck.

Sparklesdontshine · 22/12/2017 20:33

How old is your daughter op? Do you have a partner to share your worries with?

Sienna333 · 22/12/2017 20:35

Dotty, I am concerned for you, genuinely. Please don't ignore that.

Yes, I agree, the thread should be moved to the health section

Sienna333 · 22/12/2017 20:36

She is 9, I am a single mum although her dad has her every other weekend.

Can we also ask folk not to troll hunt please? We've deleted a number of posts breaking talk guidelines. By all means, report posts which concern you but please don't troll hunt on threads.

Thanks all.

SunnySkiesSleepsintheMorning · 22/12/2017 20:37

Blood in the stool of a young person is not actually as serious as you think. Of course it should be checked...but it’s common in many conditions e.g. IBS.

SunnySkiesSleepsintheMorning · 22/12/2017 20:38

Do you work? Who do you talk to about general life worries?

DottyS · 22/12/2017 20:38

Thank you - I am not in the least bit worried. I am feeling a tad miserable but that is all. No need for hysterics as I know when my stress levels fall everything will be back to normal.
