To visit the walk in centre?

Sienna333 · 02/12/2017 08:55

The top of my bumcrack has a small white/flesh coloured spot on it and although it looks insignificant, it is stinging like mad and I can barely sit. AIBU to go to the walk in centre? I can't take a minute more of this and what's worse is that I am on my period :(

What if it is UC? You can't change it if it is. Worrying about it won't make it better. But you can't spend the rest of your life waking up every day and wondering what you might have. You need to make an emergency appointment

MichaelFabricantsHair · 19/12/2017 21:39

You don't know anything for definite. As I said upthread, my DD had rectal bleeding, weight loss and a very high faecal calprotectin level which were massive red flags for IBD. But tests showed nothing abnormal.

You seem more concerned with potential physical issues that haven't even been investigated/diagnosed than your obvious health anxiety, which you admit you have.

Your mental health is equally as important to your overall wellbeing, why are you avoiding seeking help/treatment? Please make an appointment to discuss both your gastro issues and your anxiety Flowers

Sienna333 · 19/12/2017 21:43

The bloody diarrhoea is the new symptom. I knew I wasn't being silly when I thought I had UC. It's clear now that this is what I had back in October, it is following almost the same pattern.

OP posts:
Wolfiefan · 19/12/2017 21:47

You don't know it's UC or worse.
You need to seek help for the anxiety. Make the appointment. But make it about the anxiety. You are catastrophising.

Etymology23 · 19/12/2017 21:51

Hi Sienna,

I hope your panic has subsided now. I have IBS and so I do understand why you’re concerned. I think the thing is that there are two things going on here, and both can be fixed.

The first is your health anxiety - this level of concern will be playing havoc with your stomach so may also be causing some (or even all) of your physical symptoms. When I’m stressed I get more gas, worse diarrhoea and then end up with irritation and bleeding.

However, on the off chance that it’s not being indirectly caused by how anxious you are, the other symptoms are then separate and can be treated separately but concurrently with your health anxiety. Even if those symptoms are from something else and something serious- which is unlikely- it will still be much Much easier for you to deal with them if you have a better grasp on your anxiety. The anxiety will permeate everything until you get a grip on it, and you will always read the worst into everything anyone says unless you take some help.

Please book a doctors appt and not just to talk about your physical symptoms. Why not write down everything you want to say first, so if you panic you can just hand it to them and not have to think there and then.

All the best,

Ety

Oh ffs give it a rest with the 'it's clear that it's' 'it's obvious that'

Emlou07 · 20/12/2017 07:11

My partner has UC. Even IF you do have it, it really won't be the end of the world! He's medicated and very rarely has a flare up.

KiaOraAura · 21/12/2017 22:21

Did you make the appointment? I really dont think engaging with the OP about what her symptoms might be is doing her any favours - no level of reassurance will help at all.

Please get help for your health anxiety Sienna.

Sienna333 · 21/12/2017 22:37

I went and they seemed very concerned about the fact I have diarrhoea still and sometimes blood with it. I have that same horrible, vile, rotting, suflur smell when I fart as well just like with the 'bug' which was now clearly UC back in October. And yes, My doctor did say it sounds like it could be an inflammatory disease even though I have no pain. I was right all along. I haven't been officially diagnosed but this wasn't all in my head.

OP posts:
Wolfiefan · 21/12/2017 22:50

Your physical symptoms aren't all in your head but your continual catastrophising and certainty that this is a worst case scenario are indicative of severe health anxiety that you refuse to address.

sillysausage16 · 21/12/2017 22:59

Clearly 🙄

sillysausage16 · 21/12/2017 23:02

At the start of this thread it was about a small spot on your arsecrack. How on earth did we get here? Tell you one thing, it's put my health anxiety into perspective I'm so pleased I value advice and actual diagnosis from my doctor

Sienna333 · 21/12/2017 23:02

But I said all along it was an inflammatory disease and now it seems I am right. I have health anxiety but this wasn't something I just came up with. I have all the symptoms except pain and Gp is now concerned. It's clear what I had in October was not just a bug but the first real signs of UC. It went for a couple of weeks and has now returned. Apparently that is common with this disease.

OP posts:
scotchpie · 21/12/2017 23:09

How do you know it's an inflammatory disease? You have had no tests!

Sienna333 · 21/12/2017 23:09

I started a thread back in October as I had weeks of what started with stomach cramps which led to diarrhoea which turned bloody for a few days then a few days of acid reflux. I was then feeling great for three weeks but once again, felt the need to keep going for a BM and was passing small amounts of stool up to 8 times a day. That stopped then I started getting pain and soreness in my bum as well as finding it hard to sit down. Thought it was a cyst which explains this thread but was told it was internal piles. Finally got past that then the acid reflux comes back, the looser stools, and now the diarrhoea mixed with blood here and there. It's clear it wasn't just a bug back in October, this is all linked. I knew it was when I smelt that god awful smell from my farts, apparently UC farts have a certain kind of sulfur smell.

I am utterly drained and terrified.

OP posts:
Dancinggoat · 21/12/2017 23:09

I hope it gets sorted soon. It must be so hard when you have anxiety trying to work out what is a real health issue or not. Thank goodness you persevered.

Sienna333 · 21/12/2017 23:12

Scotchpie, there is really no other explanation. I have diarrhoea, vile smelling gas and blood here and there in my poo. I also (TMI) notice i am farting out blood and poo.
I don't have stomach pain and only losing weight because I can't keep food down through diarrhea but it all points to an inflammatory disease. I wish I could delude myself but I can't anymore :(

OP posts:
JaniceBattersby · 21/12/2017 23:16

It takes weeks and weeks of invasive testing to be diagnosed with UC. I should know.

You can’t self-diagnose.

Please, get some help for both your anxiety and your bowel issues (which are probably linked). I’m sorry you’re feeling so terrible OP and I hope you’re ok soon.

scotchpie · 21/12/2017 23:20

I agree Janice, after having this shitty disease for 30 years

tangledyarn · 21/12/2017 23:20

You may have a chronic gastro issuesl but you have no idea currently it that is the case. Your "knowledge" of 'UC' so just demonstrates excessive googling rather than any facts. I'm guessing your GP is doing further tests which will rule things in or out. It may still be just ongoing upset after a horrible bug who knows..if it is something chronic it's not a life sentence as many on this thread have told you. Did you discuss your health anxiety with the GP?

WildImaginings · 21/12/2017 23:23

My mum has UC.

I'm struggling to keep calm, but I'll try: I seriously doubt you have UC, and you cannot just bloody diagnose yourself.

Trust me; your symptoms do not definitively add up to UC. Have you been going to the toilet 5 times in an hour and passing copious amounts of blood? No? Then don't diagnose yourself.

For the love of god, go to the doctor for your health anxiety.

I feel sorry for you but I'm going to have to hide this thread now because it's actually making me quite angry.

Sienna333 · 21/12/2017 23:25

I am pretty sure it is UC. I am terrified of all the painful procedures that I will need to go through :(
The health anxiety is known but it isn't in my head, I AM very ill physically like I always knew from the start.

OP posts:
Sienna333 · 21/12/2017 23:28

Sorry if I offend you Wild but every case is different and mine is clearly just starting out. There is no other explanation for this and my GP says it is definitely a possibility. Some cases of UC are more severe then others and can come and go in early stages.

OP posts:
tangledyarn · 21/12/2017 23:29

Your health anxiety is telling you you are pretty sure..in reality there is no certainty at all. What tests has the gp referred you for?

sillysausage16 · 21/12/2017 23:31

But if it's a POSSIBILITY that means there are OTHER EXPLANATIONS for it
