Gallstones/gallbladder problems

Hello so I need to change my diet to reduce my night time attacks! I am seeing the doctor also so no worries on the seek medical help front.

I'm wondering if anyone else has this problem and if Diet has helped. What are you eating? What are your triggers?

Hi Chaplin I am still waiting for my op too - had my pre op appt about 3 months ago and not heard a thing!

Had an attack at work today and had to lay on the toilet floor for about 30 mins. Lucky it was clean! How are you?

chaplin1409 · 27/09/2017 21:43

Luckily last couple of weeks I have been hood just a few niggles but my last attack was quite bad and I was sick with it too. Doctors said that's normal and just means it's getting worse.

Do you get the sweats with an attack too or is it just me? Blush

Dailystuck71 · 30/09/2017 17:36

I am drenched in sweat when I have an attack. I end up in my pants and bra.

I have my op date. Next Friday. Thank god.

Ooh good luck Daily ! How long have you been on the waiting list for?

EllyOlly · 01/10/2017 08:23

Can I ask you all your advice? I currently live abroad and have private healthcare provided by my company. At a health screening, the doctor discovered 'many' small gallstones. I have never had any symptoms. My mother had gallstones and I remember the horrific pain she endured. My doctor has advised I could live with them for years with no problems. Or they could strike at any time.

It's not our long term plan to stay abroad so they might possibly cause me issues when I'm back in the UK and under NHS care.

Would you elect to have the gallbladder removed preemptively even if you didn't have any issues yet?

TIA

Dailystuck71 · 01/10/2017 08:32

First attack was 27th December
Next attack was start of March
Multiple attacks in April. Many back to back

Saw GP referred for ultrasound which happened in May

Back to GP with confirmed gallstones and referred to see Surgeon.

Further attacks in May and June

Ended up in hospital abroad in July.

Saw surgeon 4th August

Pre-op mid September

Operation scheduled 13th October. I said I'd go to any hospital within our NHS area and see any surgeon and take any cancellation.

Dailystuck71 · 01/10/2017 08:37

Knowing what I've been through Elly, yes I'd elect to have it removed. I really struggle with it hanging over me all of the time. I've cancelled so much. Thing is though, I don't know what my trigger is. I can eat and drink pretty normally and be fine. I have no idea what makes them cross but when they do get cross the pain is unbearable.

Thanks for the timeline Daily and good luck next week!

I think I'll have a long wait the waiting list is pretty long around my area, might tell them to put me on a cancellation list too but last time they said there wasn't one Hmm
