How do i get rid of it quickly? Have taken 3 Rennie Deflatine so far. No burps/farts yet..

Sooo painful just under ribs and across back and shoulders.

Need to get DD's tea cooked but can hardly walk.

BigEggLittleEgg Thanks. I did eat a lot of naughty stuff yesterday!

jackieglyn Thanks. I think the pain started under my ribs then went across back and shoulders. It does feel a little tender when i press there but it does further along too.

I have got a Drs appointment for next friday. Should i get one sooner than that if possible?

Hi tortoise, unfortunately for you it really sounds like you have them, it will be slighty tender around that whole area, not over tender - but just more than your tummy on the other side- if that makes sense?

Your doctors appointment should be fine for then, unless you have anymore attacks then you may want to bring it forward.

If you have gallstones the you can control your attacks (most the time) by basically not eating anything with fat in it. and i mean nothing. No using oil to cook with, no milk, choc, cakes, fatty meatetc and definately no chips.

The doctors wont be able to say for definate, they will press your tummy were i said to press and if its tender they will send you to hospital for an altrasound to see if you have any of the little buggers in your gallbladder. If so then its an op to remove your whole gallbladder.

Sorry dont mean to scare you, its only keyhole so its ok.

X

Thanks. Sounds scary!
I will try and be extra careful woth what i eat just in case.
How long will it take in hospital? I have no one who could have my two DD's. They would have to goto a foster carer.
I hope its not anyway!

Will post on this thread if anything else happens.

I hope its not either for you and your childrens sake.

You are only in hospital over night (one night - if its a straight forward op) so you would only need someone to have them overnight.

They let you out the next morning if someone collects you from hosptial. but obviously you cant do alot for about 3 days. (you do need to rest). and you definately cant carry them for at least 14 days.

Anyway wait and see what happens.

Let me know how you get on.

tortoise · 22/03/2007 16:14

I don't think i can wait another week to see the Dr! I need to know now if it is or not or i will just worry more.
Thanks for your help. Glad i asked now.

Sounds to me like gallstones, I suffered like that for months until a friend told me she had seen the dr due to the same symptoms and had had a scan and it was gallstones.I went to the Dr the next day, was scanned et voila! We were operated on within days of each other. I still have to be careful though if I eat things like carbonara or fatty foods, then I just lie down and deeply massage my abdomen foloowing the colon. It helps. Good luck.

tortoise · 22/03/2007 20:54

Thanks.

I've had the odd twinge tonight but not the full on pain i had last night thank god!

Dr sending me for a scan. Got to wait for an appointment to come in the post! He said it may show gall stones but many people have them without knowing so it won't prove the pain is caused by them. Got to use pepto bismol/gaviscon after meals in case its just an indigestion/heartburn type thing.

Bought gaviscon and used it after late breakfast. It made me feel sick for ages afterwards. Hate the stuff! Does pepto stuff taste any better?

OP posts:
olivo · 26/03/2007 13:20

tortoise, i used the gaviscon tablets as couldnt stomach the medicine. i thought pepto was gross too!

hope you feel better soon.
