Thighs rubbing together, advice on how to soothe the soreness

KissMyShoe · 19/06/2017 13:23

I'm not overweight but my legs right at the top have always touched and in hot weather they rub together and become sore.

They're really sore right now and it's like friction burn. They sting whenever I walk.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to soothe this and stop it from getting worse, I've tried baby powder and it's ok until the sweat makes the powder come off. I haven't tried anything else and can't think of what to try.

I'm sure I'm not the only one with this problem, can anyone help?

I'm in the same boat. Roll on antiperspirant has been the best solution I've found. You probably have some lying about the house. Just put some on the bits that rub and once it dries your legs will start gliding over one another as opposed to sticking together.

If your thighs are really sore ATM hold off and just use cycling shorts or spanx-style control knickers to create a barrier.

treaclesoda · 19/06/2017 13:30

This is prevention rather than cure, but I got really great knickers from Primark that have a sort of lightweight 'leg' in them, like a pair of tights at the top, and they just come far enough down the legs to stop the thighs touching. It's really hard to describe, but they are really comfortable, not like the usual 'long' underwear which is also elastic Spanx style shorts.

OhHolyFuck · 19/06/2017 13:31

Body glide, it's a product runners use or a small pair of cotton shorts under shirts/dresses

KissMyShoe · 19/06/2017 13:33

Never would have thought about the roll on deodorant. Will defo give that a try and looks like I'm in need of a trip to primark

Yy to deodorant. I give my thighs a good spray with my Mitchum antiperspirant and it works really well. You need to heal first though or it'll sting like hell.

ALoveWorthKeeping · 19/06/2017 13:36

Lanacane Anti-Chafing gel from Boots works for me.
And yes - Sudocrem to heal.

KissMyShoe · 19/06/2017 13:37

Ok will use Sudocrem because I have some, done appear to have any roll on deodorant which is just as well because it needs to heal up first. Thank you so much for advice. If roll on deodorant works I'll love you ladies forever lol

Lady Anti Monkey Butt powder. It's like a talc but specifically to prevent chafing, works really well.

KissMyShoe · 19/06/2017 13:38

@QueenMortifauxcado monkey butt powder? Lol where do I get that?

KissMyShoe · 19/06/2017 13:42

Ok next question, will sudocrem come out of a black maxi dress in the wash??🙈😒😒

Oh its horrid, I have this problem too! I went on a walk last night, in so much pain today xx

welshweasel · 19/06/2017 13:45

Bodyglide is amazing stuff. And yes sudocrem will come out in the wash.

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 19/06/2017 13:47

I came on to say roll on deodorant too.

moonbells · 19/06/2017 13:47

I buy cheapo thick ladder-resistant tights from the supermarket and have at them with a pair of scissors so they are effectively cycling shorts length. Anti persp, talc then those on will make it a lot more pleasant in these temps.

QueenMortifauxcado · 19/06/2017 13:48

I don't know, I think I got mine off amazon but it seems less available now. Ebay still have it in varying quantities. The regular anti monkey butt is very similar from what I remember so that'll probably do it if it's easier to get.

colouringinagain · 19/06/2017 13:48

I was just about to post this question! Thanks everyone

Any of the 'max protection' range of deodorant liberally applied to your inner thighs will work wonders!

I have large thighs and they are comfortable even in today's heat.

GhostPower · 19/06/2017 13:51

Sudocrem is very good. Give it a try

hazeydays14 · 19/06/2017 13:54

Glad someone posted this thread so I didn't have to! Some great ideas to try.

I usually wear thin tights to work which solves the issue but I think it will be too hot this week for that!

Ollivander84 · 19/06/2017 13:57

These. I need to buy another pair in nude actually for under a pale skirt!

OliviaBenson · 19/06/2017 13:58

Bodyglide was a game changer for me. Nothing else has worked. I ordered it from amazon.

Clalpolly · 19/06/2017 13:59

Lanacane anti chafing gel.

Wonderflonium · 19/06/2017 14:02

I just wear cycling shorts under dresses now. Lanacane works, as long as you keep re-applying.
