Thighs rubbing together, advice on how to soothe the soreness

KissMyShoe · 19/06/2017 13:23

I'm not overweight but my legs right at the top have always touched and in hot weather they rub together and become sore.

They're really sore right now and it's like friction burn. They sting whenever I walk.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to soothe this and stop it from getting worse, I've tried baby powder and it's ok until the sweat makes the powder come off. I haven't tried anything else and can't think of what to try.

I'm sure I'm not the only one with this problem, can anyone help?

Bandalettes are your solution! Took me years to find them and now I never look back!

www.bandelettes.com/

TheHodgeoftheHedge · 19/06/2017 17:07

You can get Bodyglide from Amazon as well

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 19/06/2017 17:08

At least try the roll on first though. Cheap & easy to get.

SingaporeSlander · 19/06/2017 17:08

Pink Bodyglide claims to be "more moisturising for a smoother finish". Or some such.

Just wanted to recommend anti monkey butt again as it lasts pretty well on me. It'll need reapplying after a few hours on a really hot day though. It's miles apart from other talcs, I have the lush one and that does almost nothing for me. I think it's a cycling product by the way, apparently monkey butt is an american term for arse chafing Grin

Tortadellanonna · 19/06/2017 17:21

Stick deodorant works

TheHodgeoftheHedge · 19/06/2017 17:26

@picklemepopcorn fabric pantie liners? Are they reusable? Where do I find them?

KissMyShoe · 19/06/2017 17:44

@TheHodgeoftheHedge I'm ashamed to say this happened to me yesterday, went for a wee and wondered where it was and it was stuck to my lady parts 🙈😳😂

Waaaaaaah I am so relieved it's happened to someone else @KissMyShoe
Although, also sorry ;)

GavelRavel · 19/06/2017 17:46

I use Johnson's baby talc does the trick

GavelRavel · 19/06/2017 17:47

Careful not to chuck it up higher than inner thighs though as it's not great in the vag supposedly

purplenessy · 19/06/2017 17:54

Comfort shorts
Or get a cheap pair of leggings and cut them down to cycling shorts

picklemepopcorn · 19/06/2017 18:08

This kind are nice. There maybe be thinner ones, these are actual pads rather than liners. Still slim and comfy though. I wear them all the time.

@SnickersWasAHorse the Primark knickers cost around £5. They are like big granny knickers at the top and then have a few inches further down the legs that are made out of very sheer fabric. They are reasonably lightweight so you don't get the added heat of wearing shorts. I love them.

HundredMilesAnHour · 19/06/2017 18:19

I used to use Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream but then I switched to using (much cheaper) Aussie favourite Lucas Pawpaw cream. It stops the chafing and helps help any bits which are already sore. I also use it as lip balm and cuticle cream so I always have a tube in my bag.

TheHodge
I have some washable panty liners (and pads) from Honour Your Flow. Sooo comfy. There is a 10% discount for Mumsnetters.. the code is MUMSNET if I remember rightly.

mrsBeverleygoldberg · 19/06/2017 20:15

Bandalettes. I prefer them to shorts as my pants get less sweaty. I sweat a lot.Blush

KittyandTeal · 19/06/2017 20:16

Body glide is brilliant. I use it running and have never suffered chaffing

SnickersWasAHorse · 19/06/2017 22:23

I love the look of the bandalettes. However I like the look of them on the beautiful thighs in the pictures. I think mine would look dreadful.

DerelictWreck · 19/06/2017 22:36

*snickers I've size 18 thunder thighs and my bf loves them on me! Haven't told him why I wear them though ;)

NameChange30 · 19/06/2017 22:37

I considered the bandelettes but decided against them because I assume they're a bit like hold-ups. I used to wear hold-ups instead of tights but I found that the silicone bits holding them in place got sweaty and uncomfortable after a while.

The bandelettes definitely look sexier than long cotton knickers but I favour comfy undies over sexy ones sorry not sorry DH Grin

SnickersWasAHorse · 19/06/2017 23:21

I thought they looked like hold up tops too. I fear they would roll up.

Clalpolly · 20/06/2017 09:56

Bandalettes just look like nylon sweat makers that dig in to the chubby of thigh.

Maria1982 · 20/06/2017 09:59

Body Glide!!! I read about it on mumsnet and it has really changed my life in summer!
Yesterday I went to London all day, walked loads in a dress and was fine at the end of the day. Without Body Glide my thighs would have been rubbed practically raw in the old days and take days to heal!

SingaporeSlander · 20/06/2017 12:49

Maria did you have the pink or blue BodyGlide?
