I am really struggling with pms today.
I feel so low and full of self loathing yet so angry. I feel like running away till its gone so i dont have to face anyone feeling like this. I have been so horrible to everyone and feel full of guilt as well. I really hate this.

chopin, i was like this last week and i am not usually too bad. you have my sympathy

TrinityRhino · 19/03/2007 09:35

do you have a couple of old plates you could throw at a wall? not forgetting to clear up afterwards of course

or could you go for a run, sweat out some anger and frustration?

failing that what about screaming into a pillow?

or...the sun is over the yardarm somewhere in the world.... so you could just start on the wine and then by lunchtime you'll be drunk and can just go to sleep

Not possible if you have littluns though

sorry I'm not sure what say

ChopinRocks · 19/03/2007 09:35

tell someone, chopin. remember too that it is temporary.hard, i know. and remember, thoughts are just thoughts. you might not feel it at the moment but you are in control

TrinityRhino · 19/03/2007 09:40

thats a shame, sorry can't make it that far with the 2 little ones

Do you have kids?

Can you remeber anything that has helped you in the past when you felt like this?

ChopinRocks · 19/03/2007 09:42

my dd is at school (only child) i am too embarrassed to tell anyone and its so hard trying to hide it. Yesterday, mothers day, i did such an awful thing cos i felt so angry. I felt such nasty bitch afterwards. I just dont feel "me" at all. I just want to run away.

nickytwotimes · 19/03/2007 09:43

chopin, if this is happening regularly, maybe you should see doc?

ChopinRocks · 19/03/2007 09:44

i am going to phone my doctors and talk to him because it is just getting worse and worse with each month. New Years eve was awful, i made loads of lovely food for a party and refused to eat it and sat at the table with my arms crossed staring at the wall.

nickytwotimes · 19/03/2007 09:45

you should definitely do this chopin.

Rumpel · 19/03/2007 09:46

Chopin - if you suffer form major PMS a lot, start taking agnus castus tincture (Holland and Barratt or google) It helps to regulate your hormones and after a while you should feel a difference. If you feel angry try pressing your finger into the top of your foot. Follow the bone of your big toe up to where it meets the next toe, on the foot, and gently press in there. You could also try a foot massage - it will help to ground you. Very practical advice I know but I hope it helps and sending healing thoughts too.

just called doctors and have managed to get 11.20am appointment for this morning.

Thanks for listening.

ChopinRocks · 19/03/2007 09:49

rumpel thank you for that advise - i will look in to that holland and barrat stuff - i would prefer herbal medicine for this sort of problem. thanks

well done for calling the doctors, make sure you go

don't make light of how your feeling when you go and see him, PMS is a very real and sometimes very severe thing, the doc can help you

Good Luck

ChopinRocks · 19/03/2007 12:18

Been to the doctors, he suggested antidepressents which i am not keen on. I also visited Holland and Barratt and asked about the agnus cactus and they recommended these 100% for pms and hormone problems. I got 3 jars! (they are on special offer at the moment).

I also spoke to my dh, he said he knew it was "that time of the month" but hadnt at all realised the emotional hell i was facing over the last few days and it has been hell. I said i was ashamed and he said it isnt my fault. I said i hated myself for the way i have been treating and speaking to him and dd over the last few days. The self loathing is overwhelming.

Thank you so much mumsnetters for your advise. I was sat at the computer this morning trying to think how the hell i was going to get through today in such a destructive frame of mind. I was scared.

I feel like a weight has been lifted off my back and no longer like a complete lunatic.

Did you get tablets or tincture (liquid)? The liquid gets into your system quicker. Either or though will help.

Good luck.

ChopinRocks · 19/03/2007 13:49

i got the tablets. Have you tried them before? Have they really helped?

bobsyouruncle · 19/03/2007 13:54

You're not alone, I get terrible pms & don't feel rational or anything like my usual self. Its scary feeling that angry & destructive and out of control. Then when it passes you can't imagine feeling like that again!? Will try the agnus cactus too, let me know how you get on with it.

ChopinRocks · 19/03/2007 14:28

Hi bobs, am feeling more positive just by letting it all out. What scares me is what goes through my head when feeling so crap. I hate it.

Yes, get down to holland and barratt as the tablets are in their sale. best of luck, let me know how you get on.

Chopin - yeah. I started taking it a couple of years ago as I was suffering from post traumatic stress and my hormones were manic. I take the tincture added to juice 2x daily and it really helped. Stopped taking it for the last 1 year or so as I was pregnant, however, started on it again about 6 weeks ago and got my first period in over year a couple of weeks ago. It really does help. Good luck.

Pimmpom · 20/03/2007 15:32

Thanks for starting this thread Chopin. I have had an absolutely awful weekend due to PMS. Felt better immediately on Monday morning when I came on. Will get myself down to H&B. Thanks too to Rumpel for the suggestion. x
