Please tell me your positive stories! I got my letter through and it explains all the risk's so now I've convinced myself I will probabily die! I have anxiety / ocd so that doesn't help! Looking for reassurance please.

How are you Trampy?

worriedme04 · 10/05/2017 19:44

Well done Trampy-It's looking likely I will be having one of these!(I hope but that's a whole other story)

VLCos · 10/05/2017 19:52

Glad if went OK pnutter,do they give you the results straight away ?

TrampyCat · 10/05/2017 21:03

Glad it went well pnutter! The enema was fine, don't know why I worried about that! The camera wasn't very nice, it was OK till I got too much air then it hurt like a colic trapped wind pain they told me to fart so I did and it eased but it was so hard to do! It seem to last for ages but was only 10 mins. They removed a polyp with some kind of electrical type wire thing. Afterwards I got tea and toast, couldn't stand straight as stomach ache from all trapped wind. Whoever suggested sanitary towels for the lube was a godsend! Once home had some peppermint tea and mints and it's not as bad now although I can still hear the wind moving and have a bit of a tender stomach.
If I had a full colonoscopy I'd definitely have sedation but wouldn't if I had one of these again. Not as bad as I thought but not pleasant. But I'm alive! most important thing!lol

Well done Trampy 😀

pnutter · 10/05/2017 22:38

No results for me got to see consultant (Who knows when )

GimbleInTheWabe · 11/05/2017 09:26

Nice work Trampy, glad it went okay. Yes I remember now the uncomfortable feeling was like having a balloon inflating up there, shudder!

Glad my pad tip came handy, wish someone had told me!! I hope there's someone at home to pamper you now Smile

UnbornMortificado · 11/05/2017 10:10

Pleased everything went well for you both.

pnutter · 11/05/2017 11:21

BrewCake

maxybrown · 11/05/2017 12:54

Ah well done both!

I'm going to try and not have sedation. One thing I am dreading is everything I read says they ask you to lie on your left side. I can't lie on my left side as both my arms go numb Confused and my shoulder.hurts like hell. Hmm this is going to be fun!

worriedme04 · 11/05/2017 13:55

I am being sent for one of these now-I was under the impression they did tell you any new there and then(and indeed if you didn't have sedation you can see/hear for yourself)
I see pnutter is getting her results later...
Did everyone else not get told what the problem was/was not on the day?

TrampyCat · 11/05/2017 14:13

Maxy I didn't have to lie flat on the bed the head bit was half up so if I was pretty much sat up turned on my left side.

I asked her at the end "I'm not dying of cancer am i" she said no so not results as such but she said everything looked fine and she'd write back to the consultant who I haven't got an appointment for again lol. The polyp sample gets sent off as well she said that could take a few weeks.

I got all my results at the end, then and there and the same results sheet that goes to the GP/Consultant. I could see as well - the sedation was pretty light.
Biopsies take weeks tho - our pathology department is notoriously slow.
Mine was done 1/2 on my right side then I had to turn over to my left but wasn't completely flat at all. They worked around me massively (with stoma issues) so don't be too concerned maxy I am sure they will do the same for you. pnutter I am amazed you slept thru and also that they gave you 2 hours to recover - 20 minutes I got then it was clothes on, off you go!!

pnutter · 15/05/2017 22:50

Oh I guess I was lucky Grin I hadn't slept the night before due to the bowel prep working really well!! So I was virtually comatose. Still had no results or follow up.

pnutter · 16/05/2017 17:03

Kind of annoyed actually that I've had no results. All they said at the time was don't worry and you'll get an outpatient appointment.. which I've not had yet. My gp surgery could see nothing on their system about results. Blah!

grannytomine · 16/05/2017 17:12

I didn't have an enema, I had the 24 hrs of restricted diet, then fasting for 24 hrs and lots and lots of laxative to drink. I had a sedative and gas and air. I had a ham sandwich and coffee afterwards, no toast for me. Felt fine afterwards, they found nothing wrong but strangely all my problems seemed to be cured by the colonoscopy.

pnutter · 16/05/2017 17:17

That's strange (but good) granny.. still having my usual bowel problems and wind and gurgling like a goodun here..!!

grannytomine · 16/05/2017 20:21

It is strange, I don't know if it was the erm how can I say this politely? The spring cleaning of my plumbing that sorted things? On the other hand they had trouble with a big king in my bowel in a place where I have always had pain so I'm not sure if they straightened the king out a bit. Whatever it was I'm not complaining.

charliebear78 · 18/05/2017 10:57

What do they think is causing your problems pnutter ?
I am being referred for a colonoscopy as I have symptoms which have been going on for a while-although no one thinks it's anything serious(except me! I am really struggling with anxiety)I want it doing to give me a definite answer.
I guess you do not actually know yet as not seen anyone to discuss results.
Are they thinking IBS -surely anything else would have been discussed with you sooner.

pnutter · 19/05/2017 08:33

Hi charlie I had vulva cancer before and my gynae spotted a growth and some skin irritation on my 'bum' and referred me for colonoscopy as my cancer was very close to perineum. Coincidentally I'd also been having bowel changes ie much looser and frequent 10+ times a day, some blood in poo. My appointment came through it's in 2 weeks . Don't worry about the procedure honestly I'm a wuss and it was fine x

charliebear78 · 20/05/2017 09:43

Thanks for your reply pnutter
Hope everything is ok.

BusterGonad · 24/05/2017 16:07

When I had mine they told me there and then that it was Crohn's, so I knew I had it and they medicated me straight away, I did have to wait weeks for the official results though, as in results of samples they took etc....

TrampyCat · 18/06/2017 23:43

I've only just got my follow up appointment through! The gp said they'll probably want to check again to make sure the polyp hasn't grow back. :(

Has anyone else got their results? Hope all was well
