Please tell me your positive stories! I got my letter through and it explains all the risk's so now I've convinced myself I will probabily die! I have anxiety / ocd so that doesn't help! Looking for reassurance please.

Trampy, Maxy remember to play on it afterwards for a few days at home. Tea, sympathy and a bit looking after and you will both be right as rain.

Good luck to both of you 🍀

TrampyCat · 09/05/2017 14:37

Thank you. Bought some new slippers for hospital it says to bring some and a dressing gone. Times going too quick now!

TrampyCat · 09/05/2017 18:28

Yeah me too Hmm x

pnutter · 09/05/2017 18:36

And I can't get off the loo !! Only half way through the prep stuff Shock

maxybrown · 09/05/2017 19:01

Thank you! Sorry for invading the thread Blush

You are all helping though. I'm actually really scared of taking the moviprep as I don't need any help sitting on the loo! The closer it gets the better I'm actually feeling. You know, in a "onwards and upwards" type way!

viques · 09/05/2017 19:12

Agh! Don't wear slippers in a hospital! take flip flops that can be put in a bag, taken home and put in the washing machine. hospital floors, boak........

maxybrown. the prep drink is pretty gross, but the actual loo bit is not as bad as you think it will be! Have some Vaseline handy as your bum will be working overtime and will get a bit sore, but after the first few bouts the production rate slows down and if you start at 6 pm you will be done by 11. ( don't understand the pp who claimed it went on for 2 days) . what you produce is very watery, not like having diarrhoea, just a lot of it! Get in your Jammies for comfort and it will be over before you know it .

pnutter · 09/05/2017 19:13

The moviprep is no worse than the usual bowel problem in my case just a lot to drink. And just water coming out which is a bit weird. Tmi. It tastes ok. A bit like diarolyte. I'm feeling a bit dry mouthed though. I can't wait to get it over in the morning and eat I'm so hungry!

witwootoodleoo · 09/05/2017 19:17

I had one a few months ago without sedative (my choice) and honestly it was completely fine. Bit uncomfortable but not at all traumatic. I'm an anxious wuss and was surprised how alright it actually was

gobbin · 09/05/2017 21:00

Sigmoidoscopy is a breeze, you'll be in and out before you know it. No sedation needed, they'll likely only go to the first bend though they may see if they can get a little further if you can tolerate it (I can't, so they stop there).

Watch the screen, it's fascinating!

TrampyCat · 09/05/2017 21:50

I've eaten! They never said anything about not eating to me? It does mention only drinking clear fluids 2hrs before. My appointment is late afternoon so I have all morning to worry / Google!

How are you doing now pnutty?

OP posts:
TrampyCat · 09/05/2017 21:52

Thanks Gobbin, I'm hoping it'll be in and out quickly!

I bought these new slippers especially! I'll sling them in the washer when I get back

Mines a colonoscopy so no eating today. My arse hurts apart from that ok. X

pnutter · 09/05/2017 21:55

One and a half more glasses of the moviprep to go !

aheffalump · 09/05/2017 22:06

I wasn't allowed to eat at all the day before! And only low fibre (white bread etc) the day before that. The moviprep was rank but the actual pooping part was less intense than I expected. The colonoscopy was a breeze - I had sedation but didn't feel any different, they kept telling me I'd forget everything but I was totally alert (must have a high tolerance or something!) But even so it was fine, not painful at all. Bit embarrassing seeing the consultant face to face a few weeks later though ...

TrampyCat · 10/05/2017 07:38

Good luck today pnutter...we can exchange experiences later Smile

Good luck to you too x I hardly slept so I reckon I'll be out like a light with the sedation. My poor bottom hates me right now Blush

TrampyCat · 10/05/2017 09:46

I hardly slept either, I'm hoping well both come back on here and laugh about how anxious we were!

Good luck - I had my first before Easter although I have an ileostomy so the prep is different. The sedation - take it, but it's really light. I wasn't really worried - maybe because of that it was worse than I'd expected. But I have to have another in y months and I'm pretty philosophical about it so it can't have been too bad. Most big hospitals have dedicated endoscopy units where nurse clinicians do most of the procedures - and you never have to see them again! Hope it goes well - and enjoy your tea tonight!

RedStripeIassie · 10/05/2017 10:45

Good luck for today. I was so scared about going back for an endoscopy (down the throat) resently but the sedation made it much easier. I was recovered that day though it was nice to have my mum come and look after me for the rest of the day. Promise I didn't milk it!

TrampyCat · 10/05/2017 11:43

Been drinking tea all morning then realised I shouldn't of been ffs

OP posts:
maxybrown · 10/05/2017 13:22

Good luck both of you!

I've started my more limited diet today. Had to stop myself from grabbing fruit.

Some hospitals say ok to eat mash potato but mine says no potato at all.

I'm used to sitting on the loo constantly so should be second nature Grin

I just wish I didn't have to get up at 6am on the day to take he second lot. Wish I'd changed it to a morning appointment now.

TrampyCat · 10/05/2017 15:10

I'm recovery will update later

I dont remember an awful lot as i was so tired the sedative put me to sleep (was a lovely feeling)
The staff were so kind and nice.
I don't remember it 'going in' Grin
I do remember waking up and it was hurting quite a bit and they calmed me down
Then I was back in my room!
I was fed and given tea and went home after a couple of hours to sleep it off.
I have an appointment to see consultant. That's all I know. So, it wasn't bad at all.
