Hi
I'd be glad of any advice or personal experiences here. I am around 4 stone overweight, so definitely obese. Most of it is on my stomach though, which now looks like I'm 11 months pregnant with triplets. I'm in my 50s so this is not a possibility. It's very painful and I am short of breath when I walk etc.

I've put on a lot of weight in a short period - 10lbs in 2 months.

Six months ago I was bodyboarding in the sea, walking every day and doing an exercise class every week. Now it's a struggle to do anything.

I'm having bloods done on Friday but any ideas / comments? Am I just unlucky to pile it all on in one place?

Well said Barchester. Thinking of you TQ xxx

Gwencooper81 · 10/07/2017 16:41

Thinking of you again TQ. I hope you're recovering nicely and getting waited on hand, foot and finger Flowers

BarchesterFlowers · 10/07/2017 22:52

I have just got home from work and don't drink very often but am raising a Gin to perseverance (wedding anniversary here) and TQ.

I am looking forward to hearing about when you are well enough to slink about the ward in that dressing gown (I need to buy my own bum covering dressing gown and as slinky = not attracting dog hairs I might follow your lead).

🥜🥜🥜🥜 all round.

Fightthebear · 10/07/2017 23:00

I feel worried for TQ, hope the op went well.

Barchester - where did you get to with your treatment? Needing your own dressing gown doesn't sound great.

BarchesterFlowers · 10/07/2017 23:12

I am absolutely fine thanks, need/am having a hysterectomy but nothing to worry about.

Showing my ample posterior on the other hand is something to worry about, hence the slinky non Labrador hair attracting dressing gown a la TQ.

I am sure TQ is being looked after vv well and is as high as a kite on something to help her cope with the pain.

I only had my appendix out last year but was hot, cold, sick, shivering and not in any fit state to log in anywhere. The drain sites hurt like hell and it was all I could do to sleep and try to eat now and then. Morphine brought some relief but made me feel like an alien.

I can only hope that our TQ feels like the absolutely happiest alien on earth 🌏, ever.

Pennina · 10/07/2017 23:21

Yes me too Barchester. When's your op? Thanks for wise words re TQ/ I'm sure you are right, post op must be difficult after such a big op. I'll stop worrying!

Itscurtainsforyou · 10/07/2017 23:23

I can recommend a dressing gown in the posh nightwear bit of Debenhams (jasper Conrad etc) - floaty, stretchy and non-sweaty Smile. Hope your op goes well too barchester

Fightthebear · 10/07/2017 23:27

Yes, wise words.

Good luck with finding a lovely kimono for your op 🥋👘👘 Barchester.

maryelizabeth71 · 11/07/2017 07:55

Thinking of you and your girls. I hope it went very well and that you are recovering and being well looked after xx

Mum4MrA · 11/07/2017 09:34

Thinking of you, TQ1. Hope your op went well Flowers Flowers Flowers

yoohooitsme · 11/07/2017 09:58

Hi TQ
Another thinking of you, and thinking back to when I had my similar op at New Year. Hopefully your pain is well controlled (I learned to never turn down the painkillers - even if a kindly nurse offered the suppository version - she was right it did help Shock).
Y x

Butteredparsnip1ps · 11/07/2017 10:38

Those in need of a dressing gown might be able to get something glamorous in one of the many sales that seem to be on at the moment.

Thinking of you TQ Flowers

hairymuffet · 11/07/2017 22:07

I'm getting worried now Sad

Spookle · 11/07/2017 22:26

RTFT in the last few days. Thinking of you TQ. You sound like an amazing woman and I hope you are up and wafting your kimono around very soon Flowers

Itscurtainsforyou · 11/07/2017 23:27

Thinking of you TQ. I know the first few days after surgery can be a complete fog of painkillers. Hope you're feeling more yourself in the coming days.

BarchesterFlowers · 12/07/2017 07:41

Come on Hairy Smile, we need to keep this thread buoyant for TQ.

She will be back once she is feeling better, her surgery was a massive ordeal. Before long she will be telling us about the cashew nut mountain, big pants, slinky dressing gowns and waltzing to the loo with her new friend the drip trolley (I wonder if it is taller and stronger than the NHS model).

Lapinlapin · 12/07/2017 07:57

Agreed Barchester
I remember feeling really woozy and out of it after a really really minor op. An 8-10 hour one is a pretty big deal. Quite understandable is TQ's first thought isn't to update her mumsnet thread!

LittleMouseontheDairy · 12/07/2017 15:04

another delurker saying hello and sending best wishes.

Hope you got to order gently warmed cashews with a side of chilled cashews and are recovering as well as you can.

Flowers

Also glad that your appt went well Barchester and I loved that your dad went with you!

gonegrey56 · 12/07/2017 15:22

Hello today TQ, you are in my thoughts and I hope you are progressing well . Flowers to you, and to Barchester for her great advice

BarchesterFlowers · 12/07/2017 22:11

LittleMouse, I have a DH and DM as well but have always been a dad's girl, still am at 50! I knew that would prefer to receive bad news alone so banned everyone as I wasn't sure which way it was going but my dad insisted, absolutely insisted, and he drove 50 miles to be there. Such a sweet dad.

Flowers for TQ tonight.

flyright · 12/07/2017 23:27

Indeed 💐for TQ. And her family. I think we're all sending support and love to them all.

flyright · 12/07/2017 23:29

PS. What a really great Dad, Barchester. 💐or maybe Cake for him too.

MrsMozart · 12/07/2017 23:40
