Husband feeling unwell. Advice off any docs? (photos inc)

Wondering if anyone can shed any light. 11mo ds was at gp on boxing day and diagnosed with tonsillitis. The next day he came down with chickenpox.
5 days later dh comes down with flu like symptoms. Today he is feeling better but has a rash over his body and it's spreading. We are wondering if it's chickenpox for him also (although has had it as a child). But we've also just noticed these very odd red pin pricks on his lips and roof of mouth.
Does anyone have any advice as to what this could be or if he should see a doc? Thanks

FFS go and see someone. He has a spreading rash and weird dots in his mouth. If this doesnt warrant seeing a GP I don't know what does Hmm

cheesecadet · 02/01/2017 15:15

Could be the same virus, could be something totally different.

Has he been checked out?

drinkyourmilk · 02/01/2017 15:17

I would have him checked out.

MollyHuaCha · 02/01/2017 18:03

Hope he's better soon

MYA2016 · 02/01/2017 22:21

We called 111 to get an our of hours appointment and they said to just get throat spray, they wouldn't do him an out of hours referral Confused
Said that rashes are normal with viruses! He's no better so he will see his proper doctor tomorrow.

I'll be viral - my kids always get rashes with viral - as long as they've passed the glass test then I've never taken them the GP - I e had the dots on the throat every time iv had infection

In this case I defo wouldn't go the gp

MYA2016 · 03/01/2017 18:04

Okay he's been gp today as he really feels unwell. They've said streptococcus. But he's getting worse! These are tonight's pics. Is this really really normal? I'm actually pretty worried about him :-(

Could be coxsackie virus. No treatment needed.

pnutter · 03/01/2017 18:11

Streptococcus is a bacteria not a virus ? If he's getting worse personally I'd get him seen again.

FannyFifer · 03/01/2017 18:12

Are those spots vanishing when you do the glass test? Any other symptoms?
Was thinking hand, foot & mouth but doesn't look like that.

Buttercupsandaisies · 03/01/2017 18:27

Some people are just prone to rashes - DD gets one all over her body - looks like measles. It goes as quick as it comes

AliciaMayEmory · 03/01/2017 18:30

Hand, foot and mouth? My kids rash looked like that when they had it.

FannyFifer · 03/01/2017 19:06

Actually yeah, agree with above re hand foot & mouth, just remembered mines didn't blister right away.
It does look like it when you look at photos.

Natsku · 03/01/2017 19:09

Looks like hand, foot and mouth to me too, my hands looked like that when I had it. Are they painful?

StylishDuck · 03/01/2017 19:51

My DH had hand foot and mouth a few months ago and his hands looked exactly like that. As long as the rash is disappearing when you do the glass test (please reassure us that you have done this!) then I would just get a GP appointment for tomorrow.

BigBroIsWatching · 03/01/2017 20:29

I had a similar rash after a virus. Which coincidentally happened after my daughter had Hand, Foot and Mouth.

Quartz2208 · 03/01/2017 20:33

First thought when I saw the throats was first sign hand foot and mouth my Ds throats looked the same the day before his appeared. Until the spots appear on the hands/feet etc it's difficult to diagnose (the gap sentds to a&e he was that ill before it came out)

Are you sure your Ds had chicken pox, it's very similar but hfm appears everywhere apart from the trunk of the body (stomach and back) and chicken pox never appears on the palms of hands and soles of feet. Ds had them all over his face, arms hands feet and legs as did oh

Haudyerwheesht · 03/01/2017 20:36

I'd say HFM too. When I had it as an adult I felt ridiculously unwell.

MYA2016 · 03/01/2017 20:46

Sorry for the delay. We've done the glass test and it does go thankfully.
Dh has an extremely sore throat, headache and feels slight confused. His hands are painful and very tingly. His face is also sore. He has the rash on his tummy too but that doesn't hurt him.

Ds we were told by Dr and a pharmacist has chicken pox but my colleagues don't agree based on the pics I showed them. His spots were only on his hands (blistered) and a few blemishes on his legs too (no blisters) and they haven't changed for a week now. I though hf&m but doctor said no as he had nothing in or around his mouth? !

So are we thinking ds had hfm and passed to dh?

Thanks for this :-)

Ds 'chickenpox' on hands

OP posts:
blueberrygoose · 03/01/2017 21:07

I'm not a doctor but that really doesn't look like chicken pox on your ds hands.

Patriciathestripper1 · 03/01/2017 21:11

My DD hands looked like that and it was hand foot and mouth.

MYA2016 · 03/01/2017 21:12

Blueberry do you think hfm?
He's even been back to docs tonight as nursery said they'll only take him back tomorrow if he gets go ahead from doc! Today's doctor just said "yes he's no longer contagious"
