Husband feeling unwell. Advice off any docs? (photos inc)

Wondering if anyone can shed any light. 11mo ds was at gp on boxing day and diagnosed with tonsillitis. The next day he came down with chickenpox.
5 days later dh comes down with flu like symptoms. Today he is feeling better but has a rash over his body and it's spreading. We are wondering if it's chickenpox for him also (although has had it as a child). But we've also just noticed these very odd red pin pricks on his lips and roof of mouth.
Does anyone have any advice as to what this could be or if he should see a doc? Thanks

Having seen the pics it does look like hfm. They don't always get it in all areas, DD only got it in her mouth and nowhere else

No treatment for it though

Iambubbles86 · 03/01/2017 22:12

Yep pretty sure that's hand foot and mouth, lucky you.

Flumpsnlumpsnstuff · 03/01/2017 22:19

That isn't chickenpox, I tend to agree with the others hfm

blueberrygoose · 03/01/2017 22:21

I work in a nursery and we wouldn't exclude for hfm (ridiculous I know) yes that's what it looks like.

JammyGeorge · 03/01/2017 22:22

I caught hfm from the kids and I was very very sick, headache, sensitive to light, stiff neck, sore throat - I really thought I had something serious wrong.

My hands looked just like that and turned to little blisters, they tingled and burned.

I had spots on hands and feet (couldn't put my shoes on) nothing in my mouth at all.

Thanks so much all.
So docs diagnosing ds with chickenpox and dh as streptococcus are basically wrong. They've put dh on strong antibiotics for 10 days for strep too!
I agree hfm. Thanks for the advice I'm really really grateful

Ds1 was about 19 when he had hf&m and only had the blisters in his feet. I took him to GP thinking some sort of allergy but GP said definitely hf&m.

I was once told that Fifth Disease may present the same symptoms in adults as HFM. My GP couldn't tell them apart.

Quartz2208 · 03/01/2017 22:39

Yep def him all 4 of us got it me and did mild Ds and oh badly (oh was off for a week from work) the early symptoms from Ds were really worrying (hospital as well) confusion light sensitivity headaches tingly hands and feet. He also cried for 2 nights with the pain in his hands and feet. There is no nursery exclusion as it can be infectious for up to 6 weeks

FourKidsNotCrazyYet · 03/01/2017 22:56

Hfm is so easily underestimated. My children have had it a couple of times but one particular time DD was barely three and had is so badly two ulcers on her tongue went all the way through and she couldn't put weight on her feet as the soles were so badly affected . She was in so much pain. There's nothing treatment wise just pain meds. But it really is horrible.

IwillrunIwillfly · 03/01/2017 23:00

Looks exactly like I did when I had hfm. I was unwell with high temps for 3 days, then can the red blotchy rash and a killer sore throat! After about the 5th day my hands and feet came up into big blisters but I actually started to feel a lot better.

Natsku · 04/01/2017 09:16

Does sound like your DS has hand, foot and mouth as well and gave it to your DH. It can make you feel really ill, especially if its from the entero virus rather than coxsackie. Doesn't always present in the same areas (for instance I didn't get any blisters in my mouth, just my hands and feet and DD got in her mouth, hands, arms and legs)
