A good PILLOW for a SIDE SLEEPER?

I don't want to buy latex or memory foam due to dangers to our health with these pillows. but feather pillows have almost killed me with neck pain everyday.. got some hollowfibre ones they are better than feather but I'm looking for something firmer,

Bamboo, orthopaedic neck support - having rested my head on it when it arrived, I'd say that's it's very comfortable. Now down considerably in price from the nearly £70.00 that I paid. I'll think I'll get myself one.

Ooooh thanks for this thread! I'm a side sleeper and desperate for a new pillow. Wasted my money on a silentnight memory foam one last week, chucked it away after one night!

What's wrong with latex pillows

One of the things that was terrible about the memory foam one I bought was an overwhelming chemical smell from it. Made me feel nauseous but also worried me.

Not quite answering your question but I'm a side sleeper and a lot of my back and neck issues have improved since I started sleeping with a theraline pillow between my knees and arms during pregnancy. Youngest DC is 2 now but I won't sleep without it and have considered packing it for holidays

Latex and memory foam give off harmful gases overtime it can lead to minor complications respiratory problems , asthma or extreme such as heart attack. These things are not safe.

Latex and memory foam are bad for your health? They're in all sorts of things, not just beds/pillows etc.

How is it they're still being sold?

I know you are right,,,,,but if they are in the pillow and we would be directly breathing it in so thats why I was thinking to particularly avoid pillows,....ofcourse my double bed mattress has foam

I have a silk-filled pillow from Soak and Sleep. Firm and non-pouffy. Also does not give me sweaty scalp, which others do.

Love it.

We have the John Lewis pillows linked to above, best pillows I've ever bought and cheap.

I always sleep on my side and love my "pillow that loves to be washed" from Dreams. I bought a pillow from M+S that was rubbish and gave me terrible neck ache.

Well it is true actually
My new pillow from silent night from Amazon.co.uk has a thin layer of memory foam in the middle and in the instructions it does say to air it 72 hours before use. It stinks and I'm sending it back 😁
If a tiny bit of foam needs airing imagine what a full foam pillow will be like 😯

I've had neck surgery and have tried just about every type of pillow going. The best for me by far is a water pillow, it goes everywhere with me. You can adjust the water to what is comfortable for you, and then add a bit more as the pillow squishes down over time.

This dunlopillo is brilliant. But it's latex.

But for anyone not bothered about that it really is a brilliant pillow if you're a side sleeper. Saved my neck and shoulders from hideous pain.

I second a Baavet pillow, I previously had a medium one and got on well with it. They are dear though.

Bought the IKEA pillow below two weeks ago. It's feather/down and comes in softer or firmer. I have the firmer one which isn't hard but gives good support. No neck pain.

I have a normal shape Tempur memory foam pillow (ie not the moulded humpy one which I didn't get on with at all) which doesn't smell at all and has been brilliant for my neck and back.
