I also have a memory foam pillow. It doesn't smell at all. I got it because I was getting a lot of neck pain. It seems to have improved since getting to pillow.

I use a v pillow which I find the most comfy for side sleeping. I've just replaced it with a memory foam v pillow and yes, it stinks. Sort of petrolly.

I thought latex was ok as it's just natural rubber?

Latex sense are a good website.

I've found my people! I have broad shoulders, and need a higher pillow. I was looking at this one. Anyone tried a walled construction one?

That wool pillow looks good, I have a wool duvet and LOVE IT.

I have the latex Dunlopillo. Not heard that latex pillows were bad for health. Great pillows for a side sleeper though, my neck no longer hurts in the morning.

Interested in the bamboo pillow.

Does anyone actually NOT sleep on their side? Apart from my mother who claims to sleep on her stomach.

mumznet · 08/01/2017 19:17

yeah some sleep on their back all the time or some on their stomachs

I start in the recovery position and then seem to spend a lot of the night on my side but tend to wake up on my back.

LazySusan11 · 08/01/2017 19:23

Also on the hunt for pillows! Dh has a degenerative neck disease and is awaiting an op, however he cannot get comfortable and rotates at least 4 pillows on any given night.

Isn't there somewhere that measures your neck etc and makes a pillow specifically for you? Failing that I'm looking at all the suggestions on here!

mumznet · 08/01/2017 19:29

i have ordered the John lewis ones so will update on those its £10 for one pillow. so far the ones I posted above have cured my neck pain Smile

mumznet · 08/01/2017 19:30

lazysusan yes there is something similar they don't measure your neck but you can choose the filling ...i saw it on the wool pillows above that some people mentioned

OP posts:
mumznet · 08/01/2017 19:30

sorry the amount of filling...less filling, medium or very firm etc....

mumznet · 08/01/2017 19:32

Update.....
My neck pain has reduced with the Argos pillow but noticed some pain is still there..... Will update after using John Lewis pillow it's still in the post Grin

OP posts:
mumznet · 10/01/2017 10:06

It's been a huge improvement but not 100% I would say the pillow reduced pain by 70-80%.

mumznet · 23/01/2017 22:04

Thanks I like the Pillow from John Lewis neck pain gone! only feel it midly sometimes so it is definitely an improvement. The argos pillow was too high! but using it as a pillow for side sleepers for support Grin

an update on John Lewis Pillow....
it felt great and reduced my neck pain significantly but since a few days it was feeling flatter...so opened one pillow and stuffed the others with some of the filling and they look much more firmer now....

sometimes you just have to take control yourself :-)

I've had memory foam for 10 years. I very much doubt they give off 'harmful' gasses

mumznet · 06/02/2017 19:50

maybe you are right. i read it on the internet about harmful gases don't know if its true

OP posts:
TheCakes · 06/02/2017 19:53

Surely they wouldn't be allowed to sell them if they emit harmful gases?!
Seems bonkers to me.
