I had a fit last night

Just need some hand-holding and impressions.

My DP was woken up last night by me "having a fit" - me eyes were open and vacant, I was completely unresponsive and shaking violently.

I hope this isn't epilepsy etc. Thankfully I already have a GP appointment booked for this afternoon.

Really, really, scared...

Flowers for you OP, I hope you get some answers soon and are able to rest too

PointlessUsername · 25/11/2016 00:46

Hoping you get some answers quickly Flowers

PotOfYoghurt · 25/11/2016 01:08

How frightening for you op. I hope they get to the bottom of it quickly for you, good luck.

Wonderingwoe · 25/11/2016 01:26

Hoping you get some answers very soon x

Ihadafit · 25/11/2016 03:22

Am now resident on a surgical assessment ward, they think I have problems with my gall bladder as well as the seizures. I'm waiting for a surgical doctor at the moment and he will make the call over both gall bladder and seizures.

Had loads of blood taken.

I'm scared shitless.

Oh you poor thing. Anything to do with the brain is somehow more worrying than any other organ. It really gets to the core of you.

I hope you get news that things aren't serious. Wishing you all the best.

Trumpton · 25/11/2016 03:37

Wide awake here in the middle of the night and thinking of you . Of course you are scared it's a very frightening time . I do hope you get some sleep and some answers and good news . Best wishes .

SpaceDinosaur · 25/11/2016 03:40

You may well be scared shitless but you are in the absolute best place now which is really really good.

Is your DH with you too?

honkawonka · 25/11/2016 03:48

To be quite honest , your partner needs to be on red alert right now with all these seizures and also needs to be completely on top of hospital admin as you will likely have to push for an MRI date , as well as getting suitable meds to control for the time being. I am highly surprised you're in any way fit to be typing regular messages though. This happened this year to my mum, she has a stage 4 tumour.

PetalMettle · 25/11/2016 04:42

How scary for you. I hope you get.some answers soon. I've been on keppra and epilim so if it is epilepsy and you're put on either of those happy to answer any questions.
Have they done a CT scan yet? They normally do those first and take bloods and then mri as follow up. Although given the amount of fits they may do mri immediately

PetalMettle · 25/11/2016 04:44

I'm also surprised you're able to type messages - so maybe they're not epileptic but for another reason? My last one i just got a cab home after my husband was called, came in, threw up and went straight to bed

SureStartRedemption · 25/11/2016 04:50

Ihadafit - I'm really sorry this is happening to you. I am glad you are now in the right place for them to get to the bottom of this. Take care and I hope you get both some answers and some treatment soon.

shinynewusername · 25/11/2016 08:51

Wow, that's helpful - questioning the OP and throwing in a worse case scenario in one go Hmm

There are many different types of fit and most people have fits are fine in between them (though some are groggy for a while straight after the fit). It's not surprising at all that the OP is able to type.

honkawonka · 25/11/2016 09:27

That's reality though and Pp's have mentioned this too.

Secretspillernamechange · 25/11/2016 09:51

Hope you're resting OP and you find an easily fixed cause today Flowers.

Maudlinmaud · 25/11/2016 10:38

Have you had an eeg? An mri? A ct?
I find the treatment or lack of as the case may be quite alarming, given that your collapses have been witnessed and lasted so long. Sorry you now have issues with your gall bladder, you really are being put through the mill. Are you in the uk op?

Hope you start to feel better soon and get answers.

missyB1 · 25/11/2016 10:53

Hopefully the Surgeons will get a Neurologist consult on the ward. Hope things start improving for you OP, and that your gall bladder behaves itself.

Ihadafit · 25/11/2016 11:33

They are dealing with the abdo pain first, have had a doctor examine me thus far. I can assure you I am not a troll. After a fit I am extremely disoriented for a while.

They are now sending me home, I have to wait for outpatient appointment....

OP posts:
Ihadafit · 25/11/2016 11:36

Pretty pissed off about it. I'm in agony with this pain - could be gall bladder but they think it's muscular so if it gets worse go to GP or A&E...

Scared and pissed off...

OP posts:
gingeroots · 25/11/2016 11:47

Surely not right to be sending you home ???

Pressure on beds ...no active treatment ...???

You poor thing .It wouldn't be surprising if your muscles were in agony after the nos of seizures you've had .

onmybroomstick · 25/11/2016 11:52

How scary for you op hope you get some answers ASAP

luicy · 25/11/2016 12:21

I developed epilepsy suddenly about a year ago (in my thirties). They've done all the tests (ecg, EEG, MRI, echo, blood tests etc), and they only abnormalities was seizure activity on the EEG, no reason or cause found. I'll be starting medication soon to try to control it.

Just wanted to let you know that it is not always a brain tumour or anything disastrous or life threatening, sometimes there is no apparent reason. There have been a lot of worst case scenarios described in your thread - try to stay calm if you can as it is perfectly possible you have just developed adult on-set epilepsy without a brain tumour or anything like that.

Ihadafit · 25/11/2016 12:23

Had a bad seizure on way from assessment unit to car park. Super disoriented now, was surrounded by concerned people.

I'm now back at A&E waiting to go through triage. On the verge of bursting into tears, super emotional and scared.

Incidentally I use speech to text on my iPhone/iPad a lot. Makes these messages a lot easier.
