This is one of those questions you can only ask on a place like Mumsnet:

when you have a cold and you are all snotty and catarrhal, do you find that you also get an increase in your vaginal secretions?

Do you think maybe you've got a cold at the same time as you're ovulating?

DumbledoresGirl · 09/02/2007 08:56

Well, obviously that might contribute Twiglett, but, no, it is definitely a cold related thing. I have noticed it for years. And let's just say, it is more pronounced than the increase in secretions around ovulating - a lot more . I wonder why some get it and some don't? Interesting. But I don't get the thrush bit afterwards - that sounds horrid DT.

NQC, I am made of iron I tell you. Dh said the same thing as you about not taking the non-drowsy stuff at night as it prevents him from sleeping, but I have taken it two nights running now and been OK. I don't find medicines have a great effect on me - that includes side effects, so it is good in that respect, but also, I often need a lot of something to see the benefit too.

Margo - I am OK. Dh doesn't want to come to close for fear of catching the bug!

LWTG - hi! Fortunately, I have woken up a lot less congested, but I will try that one next time I need to. Last night I was burning my face off with Karvol too close to my skin, in an attempt to clear the congestion so the pain of saline should be nothing!

I don't know why I get it but I do. I have a cold at the minute and without going into too much detail - well - it is more moist down below. I have taken decongestants but has not had much effect. The thrush is often only at the end and I don't know why this is either and sometime it doesn't happen.

I get the usual changes throughout my cycle, but this is much more pronounced. If you want me to be more explicit I can but I am kind of guessing we are singing from teh same hymn sheet here!

DimpledThighs · 09/02/2007 11:12

to clarify - it is enough to qualify for a change of pants. When it first started I began to question my pelvic floor until I realised that the dampness was not wee.

Yes - I know ovulation plays a big part in conception!

It was just the strangest (imo) suggestion when trying to concieve that i had read

DumbledoresGirl · 09/02/2007 12:08

Oh no, no more detail needed DT!

I can clearly tell from what you have described that we are talking the same thing. I am so ashamed as I was in bed from Monday afternoon till Thursday morning, and, although I was changing my nightie daily, I only had the energy to change the bedsheets last night.

sorry twiglett - i just misinterpreted your post

Twiglett · 09/02/2007 12:16

but have scanned down and seen your Benilyn post

the fluid women produce around ovulation is to AID conception so reducing it is a bad bad bad idea

margo1974 · 09/02/2007 12:49

yep - i think i should steer clear of offering my opinion. i'm nowhere near an expert

SnottyFanjo · 11/02/2007 09:49

Yep - me too.

The other morning I thought DP had had his wicked way with me the night before and I had forgotten about it .

...maybe I will try some decongestant

MamazonAKAfatty · 11/02/2007 10:12

errmmm.....should probably namechange as well but can't be arsed........I have noticed this.

it was most embarassing and i just pray they no one noticed.
